Interesting 4 losses in the AAAAAA top ten and Norcross is the cause of two of them. This is a very good Norcross team which will run the table in Region 7 and will go deep in the playoffs.

there is only one team that stands in lowndes way this year imo and that is camden…..if someone knocks them out then it is lowndes state title to lose imo …this is after what i saw against colquitt fri night……..colquitt county had improved a lot since the loss in the dome to north gwinnett……16-14…not taking anything away from north gwinnett but colquitt had a lot of guys hurt and ont playing in that game……..colquitt has one of the top 3 defenses in the state and lowndes ran all over it…….
Lowndes varsity defense had give up 2 tds in 5 games……….and held colquitt county to around 150 yds total offense fri night
i know its early….but i feel lowndes has a defense comparable to the kind of defenses we had back in 2004….05..07…everyone better watch out this year

Hey FridayNightLightsFan, get a towel for your crying, you wont hear any from Griffin fans. Stockbridge is THAT good. The Bears are in one of the toughest regions in the state this year..(look it up.) Griffin had an off night, granted, but that is no excuse as Those Tigers from Stockbridge came ready to play. They are a well coached team, so kudo’s to them. The mighty Bears will have their “paws” full again this week as they have to go to Tara to take on the tough Riverdale Raiders who are probably wanting to get in on the action of winning against Griffin….something not a lot of teams can boast about. GO BEARS!!

Washington’s opponents to date are 3-13. One of their opponents has scored 20 points all season (13 vs Washington) and has surrendered 172 pts in its 4 games this season. Another of its opponents scored 16 of its season total 41 vs Washington. Do you really think you can say that Washington has shown itself to be the 6th best team in 4A at this point n th season?

No. I doubt BTW or Monroe Area as good as the rankings show them. It’s hard to balance those teams w/ good records vs. weak schedules against those that have lost once or even twice against good schedules. Those two might be getting benefits of the doubt that others in other classes aren’t.

Win and fall. Not as if we played a weak team and struggled. I can’t wait for the playoffs. Clearly, I am going to have to repeat myself. Given that we have a whole new audience, I don’t mind. That time is not now though. Congrats to all the winners from this week.

@ Todd == You really, really don’t have any faith in Lovejoy, do you ? Is it because they spoiled your all WR final or is it their past ? I hope it is not their past because you can put it up against many of the teams that are top level and the history of Lovejoy exceeds that of some of todays top programs. A team that goes 28-3 since 2009 to present should be recognized for what it has achieved. They won in dominating fashion as they should when playing lesser competition. Others are rewarded, we are delegated to a lower spot on the poll. It really will be O.K.. Just as it was last year, I will be sitting in the stands as everybodys favorite goes down friday after friday. Was I wrong last year ? Not wrong now ! This time, if we make it to the Big Game and finish 2nd., could you have the heart to allow us to call ourselves the “Runner Up”, or at least claim to be second best.

If Coffee contains Green and puts loads of pressure on Ramsey …….will it be a closer game than Valdosta?????????? Coffee does have a lot of depth and in my opinion should be the sleeper in region 1/6A…..very disciplined Coffee team…..Pruitt has been running the wing-t before 2000 and he is a very good coach and should be able to defend it. Not taking anything away from Camden,,,,,very good program……If Coffee can make it to playoffs they will be a force to be reckoned with…..later than sooner for it will take Coffee program to adapt to the system 2-3 yrs.

bksmith14……..I agree with you about the defense. But there’s one thing you’re overlooking, there are several teams in the Metro Area who can light up the score board! If you can’t score as fast as they can, you’re in trouble. Even a good defense sometimes gives up points. Therefore, you might have to out score your opponent!

Sportsnut. My guess is Colquitt County’s 2nd loss made your loss to them less impressive (no loger a top 10 loss). Grayson’s loss to Parkview would put them higher then Lovejoy because Parkview is a top 10 team. Hopefully that is good enough logic for you.

Golden Isles Fan………Don’t know if you’ve watched Camden this season, but they are not a two man team! There are a number of players on offense that can make the opposition cry. Coffee’s best chance is to score early and often! If your QB is a good passer, if you have a couple of good receivers and a speedy hard runner, there might be light at the end of the tunnel. But, beware, that light might be a TRAIN! Go Camden County Wildcats!

”The AAAA rankings do seem a bit weird. … Washington was ranked 9 was off last week and moved up 3 slots. Jonesboro was ranked 7, played and won, yet dropped 3 slots.”
AAAA is weird, I agree. But note that Jonesboro’s loss to Griffin is less forgiving now that Griffin has lost to Stockbridge.
”Sportsnut. My guess is Colquitt County’s 2nd loss made your loss to them less impressive (no loger a top 10 loss). Grayson’s loss to Parkview would put them higher then Lovejoy because Parkview is a top 10 team. Hopefully that is good enough logic for you.”
Correct. … Parkview moved ahead of Lovejoy because Parkview has two better wins (Grayson, Brookwood) than any of Lovejoy’s wins, IMO. Parkview also has a more ‘decent’ loss (to Norcross) than Lovejoy (to Colquitt). Also, now that Parkview has beaten a couple of other 2011 playoff teams (Archer, Brookwood), it makes Grayson’s loss to Parkview more reasonable.
I’ll say again – I’m not making predictions. That’s for Chip Saye. My predictions this season have been pretty weak, frankly. I’m just trying to rate the teams on what has happened thus far.

@ Todd. There’s a coaching scandal erupting at Lowndes. Former Colquitt County assistant and current Thomas County Central assistant coach Buzz Payne is caught on video allegedley using binoculars staealing plays and conferring with Lowndes coaching staff in the press box. How ethical is this? Thought you might want to be aware. A NBC affiliate is investigating and is going to break it tomorrow.

How is he talking through plexiglass? How could defense adjust fast enough on the field once the guy in the Alabama shirt with binoculars passed his thoughts on to the coaches in the press box who then radioed the call to the sidelines for the coaches to send hand signals to the defensive captain who can then tell the rest of the boys on the field what to do? Might have been trying, but can’t believe it really made a meaningful difference. Shame if it happened.

“If coach Payne could steal signs, then we sure would have stolen from them and tried to hold them underneath 35 points (this year when we played them).
“They couldn’t move the ball on Lowndes. They shouldn’t blame anybody for not being able to move the ball except themselves.”
Central lost to Colquitt County 35-33 on Aug. 31, its only loss of the season. The two teams are not scheduled to play next season. Valdosta has replaced Colquitt County on Central’s schedule.

Like Golden Isles… “Pruitt understands how to defend against the Wing-T. I predict a close one. Camden wouldn’t be able to stop Coffee’s offense from putting points on the board. The key will be if Coffee’s defense is playing up to their capability, Camden’s JJ Grenn will be controlled just like Coffee controlled R. Daniels with Tift to 40 yards total rushing. We shall see.

If morons would think they would know Lowndes was not sending in defensive signals to combat Packs offensive signals. First, not enough time. Second, defensive players were not watching the sidelines to get signals sent in by Pack (I was there I know). When Pack would go up to line of scrimmage and then turn to get offensive signals, never did Lowndes look to the sidelines to get a change of defense. Unless of course Lowndes has learned the art of mind reading.
But then egotistical losers (I have some coach in mind) do need excuses when they get out coached. Hard to imagine some one could possibly be better than them.
You have chosen to go to bed with him Colquit, now you have to live with him. He will end up leaving and blaming you (the town) when he can’t ever win a state championship in Moultrie.
I can hear all of his excuses now.

Rating Parkview #7, a team that cannot pass, but is physically strong, simply represents the shortcomings of HS rankings when they can’t see all the games. Grayson coughed up the ball. So did Brookwood. Parkview was shut out by Norcross. Once Parkview runs into a Norcross like physically strong team, the Panthers season is over come playoff time.

How dare he try to taint this win for our boys. The Lowndes defense played a great game. All this talk of Lowdnes cheating is getting tiresome. Ok, so you probably wont get the region title this year Colquitt, big whoop. A region crown means nothing. As I see it, Colquitt performs in the playoffs and if I was a Colquitt fan, (Thank goodness Im not) I would care less. All the fans that are attacking you, mostly Lowdnes fans, really have no room to talk. Look at it like this Colquitt, you all have done better in the playoffs than Lowdnes, be grateful for that. One loss and causing all this fuss wont change anything.
Now the Coffee County fans. I love the confidence you have in your team. To think that you all have a chance at taking down Camden in Chris Gilman, takes a lot of faith. But lets be real, Camden has more speed than you ever can imagine. I dont believe, Coffee defense will be able to stop Camden. They score as much as they like and as quick as they like. Camden’s defense is solid too. Its not like they have a weak defense that cant function and stop plays. Every defense has a hole, Camden’s hole is very small. Camden has speed on defense and strong defensive linemen that can collapse the pocket at anytime. You cant beat them on the edge, because they collapse the edge and get to the ball. The secondary is probably the Achilles heel of the defense, but it has always been. Will score points, of course, Valdosta scored on Camden, the real question is whether or not Coffee can 1). Outscore Camden, unlikely but possible and 2). Keep up with Camden for all 4 quarters. It will be challenging for Coffee, but it is possible. Containing J.J. Green, is going to be a task. If you have seen them play before, you would know J.J. is very tough to slow down. And like Camden74 said earlier, there are more players on the team that make big plays, so just be careful. Hey you Camden dudes. I saw Camden in the classic. And they looked really good. But not the way you describe them today. If they are as super amazing as you describe them. Well. You are going to kick everyone’s ass and that is all there is to it.
Coffee has what Coffee has. The Trojans are disciplined, substitute a lot and play as a team. I have seen, on several occasions, opposing players slap the kids up side the head. They back up and take the fifteen yards. We have an excellent young QB. Accurate and smart and strong. A couple of wide receivers that are attracting attention, a big TE that can catch with his hands, a stong O line and good D backs with excellent LB’s. Our front 3 on D are average. The Trojans will come to play and play a physical game that we can leave with our heads up. Regardless of the outcome.

Quit leading the students down the wrong path. http://www.ajc.com/news/news/local-education/woodward-academy-to-join-metro-atlanta-schools-tha/nSQ8P/ . This is exactly what needs to be done. Punish the guilty…not just the ones you don’t like. Test them all and maybe you wouldn’t be ranked where you are today. Lassiter is a poorly managed school. Woodward looks like the right school for my kids. Good bye Art O’neil and undisiplined administrators at Lassiter. Read and learn something. People that blog against this type of testing should have have to deal with a child that has been subjected to peers that use drugs and see how well they fair. I just hope my kids never have to endure such a sorry excuse for a high school. Test them and make them sit! It’s a true consequence and the sooner you address it as parents, the better your kids will do in school. Fact!

The ball was on the 7 (SEVEN) yard line, not the 2, and there were 3 Minutes and 38 Seconds left in the game when the safety happened (not 30 Seconds)! Too much ignorance around here . . .

Coffee will run in-and-out 5 to 6 RB’s, fresh all the time! Coffee’s QB will pass the ball and Coffee’s receivers have shown they can catch the ball. All y’all need to review the stats for both teams on MaxPreps. In every cat. they are very closely matched. As far as the comments concerning the Burke County game and the quality of that team….. I would step out on a limb and say that Burke County would give any Region 1AAAAAA team a run for their money! Coffee made way to many mistakes in that game.

I may be wrong but I think i read a quote from Valdosta’s head coach that said “you can watch JJ Green all day long on tape but it’s a different thing to watch him in a game” Not exactly what he said but he did say that you cannot match his speed in practice to prepare for it. So I would recommend that Coffee concentrate on JJ Green by double teaming and triple teaming him and that will only free up the other 10 offensive players to make a play. They may not as fast as JJ Green but they’re only a slight step slower.

JJ Green is only an issue “if” he gets past the secondary, Zack Moore and C. Beasley. These 2 D-Linerbackers have been involved in 90% of all the tackles thus far this season. Case in-point: 40 yards for R. Daniels of Tifton. I would be more concerned with “not” kicking the ball to him on kickoffs and/or punt returns.

gman57 Burke is a very good and athletic team. They apparently got ready for Coffee in their 2 losses to Lowndes the past 2 years. Of course the last 2 years for Lowndes has not been our greatest. And Burke did win state after losing to us last year. Who knows, maybe they will win state after beating you guys this year.

@Region 8AAAAAA – Recruting for the band? To drown out everything in the stadium? Are you serious? That comment was so stupid I don’t know what else to say.
@Squirrell – Did you not notice that Lowndes got the ball first, and the Packers’ band played while we were running our offense, including on our first drive? Then when Colquitt gets the ball, our band plays and the offense complains and has the refs tell the band to stop. However, when we get the ball back, the Colquitt band starts playing again, but our team never said a word. I know, I know, here come the excuses- “but your band is so much bigger” or “our band isn’t as loud”. If you expect the Lowndes band not to play, then the Colquitt band should not play. Good comments regarding the game, and I agree that if Lowndes cheated, then there should be consequences. That said, I watched the entire game and never saw a single adjustment or players looking to the sideline after Colquitt called their plays in. Not sure how that info could get relayed down when the plays are being called in AFTER the offense and defense are lined up and no adjustment is ever made.

CAmdenn74 and Gman57 I really hate to have to correct both of you but in this case I have to step in and settle an argument. The time that Coffee and the world finds out about Coffee County Trojans will be around 9:30 because there will be a running clock in the fourth quarter. Any team can beat Camden and I personally think Coffee can I just don’t think it will be this Friday.
And while I’m talking about Coffee I must look back to the last time the two teams played. If my memory serves me right I believe Coffee didn’t even get a first down until the 3rd qtr. I may be wrong but not by much. But, my biggest disappointment with Coffee was the lack of visitors on their side of the field. I really thought with the relative distance between the two schools that Coffee would pack that side out. There seemed to be a smaller crowd than expected and especially since it was the playoffs. Well maybe they knew then that it was futile. It might be futile to come over again Friday night. We Will See

Gman57 goes from a sensible poster to and irrate Trojan fanatic. I think his feelings got hurt which is slightly understandable, seeing how we (Camden fans, myself, and other Region 1 teams) are down talking his Trojans. But I must say, Coffee does have a chance. If their football skills are any indication of their fans trashtalking skills then they have a fighting chance. But in all seriousness, I doubt that Coffee will shock Camden in Camden, many teams have tried. North Cobb had the same motivation and same slogan when they visited Chris Gilman, and got stomped. Coffee fans you must realize this is a tall order to fill, beating the No. 4 team in the nation and No. 1 team in the state at home is quite the challenge. And the whole comment about how they are evenly matched, I understand that. But you must realize, Coffee throws the ball twice as much as Camden (obviously since the Wing-T is a run first offense). I believe the only shock coming out of Kingsland tomorrow night is the fact Coach Herron doesnt run up the score on you all. As for Coffee opening up a can of “whip A–” on Camden, thats funny. Tell me Coffee fans, what do you thnk the final score will be?

Hey enough talk about the cheating!!! We have another region game to prepare for,i mean i know it’s Tifton and it shouldn’t be a game at all but it is still very important that we win.Congrats Lowndes on the win and maybe that’s just what the doctor ordered for our offense to understand that we need to get first down and get some drives going so our defense (which is pretty good i must say) doesn’t have to play the whole game on our side of the field like we did against Lovejoy and Lowndes.True we only gave up one TD in each of those games but still come on offense!!! Offense almost a no show against Lovejoy and we won and a no show against Lowndes and we still had a chance to tie or even win.Our defense will have us in every game just need some help from the offense.Lets just take our frustration out on Tifton and evryone else!! GOPACKGO!!!

wildcat12: I have much appreciation for Camden’s rankings, your support of your, but I am not impressed with the fact that you don’t even know that your team runs the”wing T”, same as the Trojans. Yes, the Trojans may pass a bit more than Camden, but they also are loaded with RB talent. I heard from an older retired friend whom is diehard Camden fan, goes to practices, talks to coaches….etc….. He told me yesterday that Camden’s head coach is worried if they have an answer for the Trojan’s deep pass ball, the number of running backs Coffee plays during any game and how effective Coffee’s defense is against the run….. Now I do acknowledge that Coffee has issues with special teams; kicking the in the end zone on kick offs, fielding punts and some issues at times with the holder for field goals and extra points….all off which will be corrected before Friday,….Pruitt will bring stuff out during this game the Camden’s scouts at the Coffee/Tift did not see… Coffee 38. Unlike you, Camden74, I believe Camden will not go undefeated thru their Region 1AAAAAA schedule.
What you have witnesses is a GOOD Camden team beat an overrated Valdosta team. Valdosta will struggle against Tift, wait and see… The issue with all this speculation is before the Camden/Valdosta game AJC and everyone else thought that it was to be a close score…. before the Coffee/Tift game AJC and everyone else thought that Coffee would have a difficult time with R. Daniels….. Point… No one knows, you can not predict your team’s performance this Friday night, nor can I… But you believe that Camden can not struggle against any team….major miscalculation.

I remember playing Sandy Creek. I was a part of the Dome team North Hall put together several years ago and we played them in the 2nd round. They came into our house and held us scoreless through the first half. After a 0-0 tie at halftime, they made a couple crucial mistakes and we took advantage, eventually taking a win 21-7. Even back then, not quite being championship caliber, they were tough and very solid.

Gman57…….Either you’re not reading my post or you’re reading and NOT understanding. I always expect a tough game from an opponent, and NO, I never expect Camden to lose! But that doesn’t mean they can’t or won’t lose. It’s pretty much up to the other team to prove me wrong, and until a team does that, I’m still expecting Camden to win. If Coffee is as good, as deep and as tough as you say they are, you should be a very happy fan come late Friday night! But, if my expectations are correct, there’s no place for your excuses! Keep in mind, Coffee is NOT playing Tift Friday night!

i told everyone at begiinning of year that north augusta sucked and dont look to much into them and valdosta fans said No …we are really that good……2 losses later they have eat crow pie now for quite some time… brooks and camden have combines to beat valdosta 71-30 and unless valdosta can find a fix for their defense they may not even make the playoffs
camden will not beat coffee as bad as they beat valdosta……..it will only be 34-17

Ahh,finally a Coffee fan that can talk and back up his team with facts and proof (Gman57). I am glad to see that you appreciate and respect Camden’s national ranking. Im sorry that I didnt realize that Coffee runs the the Wing-T also, you dont see that offense very often. The issue that I have is the comment you made about special teams issues suffered by Coffee. That is where I believe Camden will capitalize. Camden is very solid on on special teams. Coach Herron is always worried about the pass. It has always been the Achilles heel of Camden. There is no doubt Coffee will beat Camden on the pass. I believe that Coffee will have over 15o yards of passing on Camden. I like the score that you gave, it is realistic, but I must say Camden will come on top 35-17. Coffee will score, but as I mentioned earlier and in previous blogs, the question tonight is 1) Can Coffee score as much as Camden and 2) Can Coffee score as quickly as Camden. I believe that Coffee has the ability to score alot of points. Now I have not seen Coffee’s defense, but how well do they defend against the pass? Just a question not trying to spark an argument. And does anyone know if the Coffee/Camden game is going to streamed or broadcasted besides the Camden website?
