This is from the valdosta sports editor….@Ed_Hooper: Another note: I stood next to Lowndes coaches box, even sat in there during halftime, and I never heard nor saw coaches stealing signs

Well that makes it easy for him to explain when the media outlets begin contacting him tomorrow. . The NBC and CBS news affiliates are now investigating along with a few others. I guess he can explain to them what his staff was doing in the video. Everything is ok if no wrong doing. ;)

BKsmith14 the games actually have to be played before you determine a state champion. There are a lot of turnovers, bad coaches decisions, questionable penalties (especially against Camden) to be made before the final seconds tic off in the Dome.

“No. I doubt BTW or Monroe Area as good as the rankings show them. It’s hard to balance those teams w/ good records vs. weak schedules against those that have lost once or even twice against good schedules. Those two might be getting benefits of the doubt that others in other classes aren’t.”

Todd – believe in the Hurricanes. They passed their first real test Friday in thumping Lanier 33-20. Really looking forward to the showdown with Stephens County in Monroe in two weeks!!!!

You can say whiners, criers, or whatever …blah blah blah… But you can not honestly say that if this happened to your team that you would not be questioning it? You can resolve yourself to a loss under normal bad ref or good ref circumstances because that crap happens at every game to every team but this?!? Regardless the win is tainted and the Lowndes coaches cheated. Whatever outcome there is will not erase the evidence and I feel sorry for the Lowndes players because I’m sure they work hard and would like to call this theirs but sadly it’s not!

battleaxekid…….There are several teams in the Metro Area whom I believe could win the title. Grayson and Lassiter are two of them. If McEachern happens to make the playoffs, I believe they will be a dangerous team to play. There are a few others, but I’m not sure they have what it takes to win 5 games in the playoffs. :-)

@ FridayNightLightsFan – I concur Todd IS doing a great job. I enjoy his work, and rarely (if ever) disagree with his objective stance on the rankings. I think it is fair how far Griffin slid…Stockbridge was not rated, and beat us. They were underrated, while I think my Bears were a tad overrated. Being objective means that I am also a realist, and knowing Griffin’s Track record as good as I do..(I was a player back in the day) They will probably fizzle out in the playoff’s like always…Sandy Creek will see to that if Griffin even gets that far…but I still like going to the games and rooting for my old team! GO BEARS!!!

@Monroe’s first redcoat –”They passed their first real test Friday in thumping Lanier 33-20.” Lanier was no real test; its wins were against very bad teams. Come on, got to be honest with yourself.

Curious-That game was a lot closer than the score indicated.Lanier closed them down in second half, and only allowed five points, two of switch was a safty with 30 seconds left own there own 2 yard line.the game would have been a lot closer excelpt for a bad call of interferance that wasn’t called aginst monroe in the enzone of a lanier pass, the score would have been 31-27 in the forth quarter. I’m not saying Monroes not a great team with all that speed,i’m just saying Lanier is better than a lot of people think! A very talented and well coached team on the rise!

If you watch the “signal-gate” video with sound, the guy with binoculars (who reportedly is a former Colquitt coach on the TCC staff now) is only using the binoculars in between the play, not during it, so he must be looking for signals. I’m sure we’ll hear more soon about what went on and who was involved.

Camden74: Coffee has 6 or 7 RB’s in and out of the game on any Friday night. I beleive Camden’s JJ Green and B. Ramsey will have to worry about the Coffee D. Like Golden Isles… “Pruitt understands how to defend against the Wing-T. I predict a close one. Camden wouldn’t be able to stop Coffee’s offense from putting points on the board. The key will be if Coffee’s defense is playing up to their capability, Camden’s JJ Grenn will be controlled just like Coffee controlled R. Daniels with Tift to 40 yards total rushing. We shall see.

I am not taking away fom Lanier, but Monroe shot itself in the foot more than Lanier played a great game, sometimes thing just don’t click like they should, but is was a game that all great teams have, they have to find a way to win anyway and Monroe did…you can beat what you can’t catch…GO CANES

Ineligible players, reports of recruiting violations, coach’s spying ! South Georgia has issues far beyond region championships.

If morons would think they would know Lowndes was not sending in defensive signals to combat Packs offensive signals. First, not enough time. Second, defensive players were not watching the sidelines to get signals sent in by Pack (I was there I know). When Pack would go up to line of scrimmage and then turn to get offensive signals, never did Lowndes look to the sidelines to get a change of defense. Unless of course Lowndes has learned the art of mind reading.

But then egotistical losers (I have some coach in mind) do need excuses when they get out coached. Hard to imagine some one could possibly be better than them.

You have chosen to go to bed with him Colquit, now you have to live with him. He will end up leaving and blaming you (the town) when he can’t ever win a state championship in Moultrie.
I can hear all of his excuses now.

The administration would not support me like we needed.
They just would not spend enough money.
They would not let me start a 1st grade football team so we could get a let up
on the rest of Region 1.
Blah blah.

The Lanier – Monroe Area was the worst called game in Gwinnett history! Those refs were awful. Gwinnett hired NFL replacement refs for this game.

Missed calls on both sides of the ball – these refs were equal opportunity bad!

Rating Parkview #7, a team that cannot pass, but is physically strong, simply represents the shortcomings of HS rankings when they can’t see all the games. Grayson coughed up the ball. So did Brookwood. Parkview was shut out by Norcross. Once Parkview runs into a Norcross like physically strong team, the Panthers season is over come playoff time.

gman57…….I’m sure it will be a tough game. But, it’s one thing to watch the film and then say you can contain Camden’s speed, but it’s a different story doing it on the field! I think I’ve mentioned this before, Camden is NOT a two man team. There are quite a few speedy backs playing for Camden. J.J. might be the MAN, but he has LOTS of help! Time will tell. Looking forward to a good game! Go Camden County Wildcats! :-D

The AAAAAA rankings are a JOKE right?

Only Camden and Lowndes are ranked???? The top 7 should be all region 1 teams. We are big boy football. The SEC of GHSA football. Every team in region 1 could beat the Falcons. Why even rank teams if all of region 1 isn’t included. 8 of the 10 teams are from yankee metro Atlanta. Why even rank teams if region 1 is getting left out. I guess thats what y’all wanted with this reclassification. What a travesty.

Lowndes Won! Point blank! Dude just get over it. Can’t believe this. Why is there always controversy around this guy? Propst problem is that he thought he was gonna bring his high powered resume into Region 1 AAAAAA and take over. Well so far he has won absolutely nothing since he’s been here. I feel sorry for Colquitt Co. because you guys have totally bought into a guy that going to turn his back on y’all because he can’t win. I’m mostly sorry for the players though. How dare he try to taint this win for our boys. The Lowndes defense played a great game. Seems strange to me because if they were stealing signals it sure did take us a long time to put them into affect. The game was 7-3 for the longest. Just admit the better team won and just let the boys play.

All this talk of Lowdnes cheating is getting tiresome. Ok, so you probably wont get the region title this year Colquitt, big whoop. A region crown means nothing. As I see it, Colquitt performs in the playoffs and if I was a Colquitt fan, (Thank goodness Im not) I would care less. All the fans that are attacking you, mostly Lowdnes fans, really have no room to talk. Look at it like this Colquitt, you all have done better in the playoffs than Lowdnes, be grateful for that. One loss and causing all this fuss wont change anything.

Now the Coffee County fans. I love the confidence you have in your team. To think that you all have a chance at taking down Camden in Chris Gilman, takes a lot of faith. But lets be real, Camden has more speed than you ever can imagine. I dont believe, Coffee defense will be able to stop Camden. They score as much as they like and as quick as they like. Camden’s defense is solid too. Its not like they have a weak defense that cant function and stop plays. Every defense has a hole, Camden’s hole is very small. Camden has speed on defense and strong defensive linemen that can collapse the pocket at anytime. You cant beat them on the edge, because they collapse the edge and get to the ball. The secondary is probably the Achilles heel of the defense, but it has always been. Will score points, of course, Valdosta scored on Camden, the real question is whether or not Coffee can 1). Outscore Camden, unlikely but possible and 2). Keep up with Camden for all 4 quarters. It will be challenging for Coffee, but it is possible. Containing J.J. Green, is going to be a task. If you have seen them play before, you would know J.J. is very tough to slow down. And like Camden74 said earlier, there are more players on the team that make big plays, so just be careful. Go Camden! BEAT COFFEE!

While we’re at it… Let’s ban Lowndes band from all stadiums. Such a hindrance to the game. Rude and classless and that’s all they have to really be proud of.The cheating really began when they started recruiting for their band to be so big so they can drown out everything in the stadium. Too bad we can’t disband them all together

I agree about the Lowndes Band. The whole first half they played as loud as they could only when the Packers offense had the ball. When 2nd half opened, the refs finally did their job and shut-them-up!

Good game!
Both teams struggled!
Pack got beat by a better team!

I don’t blame Packer loss on Lowndes cheating, but if it’s proven to be true, measures must be taken.

Hey you Camden dudes. I saw Camden in the classic. And they looked really good. But not the way you describe them today. If they are as super amazing as you describe them. Well. You are going to kick everyone’s ass and that is all there is to it.

Coffee has what Coffee has. The Trojans are disciplined, substitute a lot and play as a team. I have seen, on several occasions, opposing players slap the kids up side the head. They back up and take the fifteen yards. We have an excellent young QB. Accurate and smart and strong. A couple of wide receivers that are attracting attention, a big TE that can catch with his hands, a stong O line and good D backs with excellent LB’s. Our front 3 on D are average. The Trojans will come to play and play a physical game that we can leave with our heads up. Regardless of the outcome.

So. Let’s play the game. We look forward to being Camden’s first guest from region 1.

GO TROJANS!!

CoffeeC100 I am sure you have a really good team. The Wildcats have a sour taste in their mouth because we have been accused (by mainly region 1 fans) that we haven’t played anyone in the past. Sure our region has been very weak; however, we won three state championships. We have a lot to prove this year. Region 1 is a great region and I am sure Coffee has a great team. I promise, we will not overlook Coffee. We are very proud to be in region 1 and we are determined to represent our region in tremendous fashion. Good luck Friday night. May the best team win.

I can’t remember the actual blog page that I wrote on yesterday but here’s a school that has taken the bull by the horns. Wake up Lassiter and follow the lead. Quit leading the students down the wrong path. http://www.ajc.com/news/news/local-education/woodward-academy-to-join-metro-atlanta-schools-tha/nSQ8P/ . This is exactly what needs to be done. Punish the guilty…not just the ones you don’t like. Test them all and maybe you wouldn’t be ranked where you are today. Lassiter is a poorly managed school. Woodward looks like the right school for my kids. Good bye Art O’neil and undisiplined administrators at Lassiter. Read and learn something. People that blog against this type of testing should have have to deal with a child that has been subjected to peers that use drugs and see how well they fair. I just hope my kids never have to endure such a sorry excuse for a high school. Test them and make them sit! It’s a true consequence and the sooner you address it as parents, the better your kids will do in school. Fact!

There is a lot of good HS football analysis being posted, but it all comes down to… Sandy Creek would be ranked No 1 in ANY of the 6 levels. The home of 4 active NFL players including Megatron Calvin Johnson, has talent that is envious of any school in the nation. See them win a 3rd of last 4 state titles easily this year.

I have to disagree about camdens defensive line……..yea they are good but the best defensive line in this region goes to colquitt county……lowndes just wanted it more fir night…….

and about the cheating scandal…….this was buzz paynes own doing……him trying to get under propst skin………lowndes had nothing to do with him ……..already watched game film….lowndes defesne wat set before colquitt signaled plays in…not once did lowndes change out of the defense they were set in …….

buzz oayne may wind up getting in trouble over this…but not lowndes

@bksmith14 – You and your analysis by score. Eat this one. On consecutive weekends both at home. Lowndes over Newton 31-0. Valdosta over Newton 31-7. Equals Lowndes is 7 points better than Valdosta. Camden over Valdosta 43-6. Equals Camden over Lowndes 43-13. That is your logic my friend.

” Curious-That game was a lot closer than the score indicated.Lanier closed them down in second half, and only allowed five points, two of switch was a safty with 30 seconds left own there own 2 yard line ”

The ball was on the 7 (SEVEN) yard line, not the 2, and there were 3 Minutes and 38 Seconds left in the game when the safety happened (not 30 Seconds)! Too much ignorance around here . . .

Coffee will run in-and-out 5 to 6 RB’s, fresh all the time! Coffee’s QB will pass the ball and Coffee’s receivers have shown they can catch the ball. All y’all need to review the stats for both teams on MaxPreps. In every cat. they are very closely matched. As far as the comments concerning the Burke County game and the quality of that team….. I would step out on a limb and say that Burke County would give any Region 1AAAAAA team a run for their money! Coffee made way to many mistakes in that game.

I may be wrong but I think i read a quote from Valdosta’s head coach that said “you can watch JJ Green all day long on tape but it’s a different thing to watch him in a game” Not exactly what he said but he did say that you cannot match his speed in practice to prepare for it. So I would recommend that Coffee concentrate on JJ Green by double teaming and triple teaming him and that will only free up the other 10 offensive players to make a play. They may not as fast as JJ Green but they’re only a slight step slower.
