All things being fairly equal, it’s about to get interesting in 6-AAAAA

Here are five things we learned from Week 6 in Class AAAAA:

*Advantage Tucker: If comparing scores means anything (and usually it doesn’t), then Tucker gets the slight edge over Stephenson and M.L. King when it comes to playing Arabia Mountain. M.L. King beat the Rams by 18 points (24-6) on Friday, similar to the margins in Arabia Mountain’s earlier losses to Tucker by 19 points and Stephenson by 10. Region 6-AAAAA is off next weekend, and the real fun begins on Oct. 12 when No. 2 Tucker meets No. 4 Stephenson at Hallford Stadium.

*It’s business as usual in 2-AAAAA: As expected, Northside and Warner Robins had easy times on the first weekend of region play, with Northside crushing Lakeside-Evans 56-0 and Warner Robins beating Evans 34-6. It’s likely the two will be unbeaten in region play when they meet on Nov. 2 to decide the region title. The biggest surprise in 2-AAAAA was Grovetown beating Houston County 27-23 to get its first victory of the season and break a six-game losing streak.

*Richmond Hill is in the mix: Richmond Hill established itself as the top challenger to Ware County in Region 3-AAAAA by rallying to beat Glynn Academy 20-17 and improve to 4-0. However, the Wildcats must avoid what happened to them last season, when they started the year 5-0 only to lose four of their final five and miss the playoffs. Richmond Hill plays Ware County at home on Oct. 19.

*A good offense can beat a good defense: Heritage came into Friday’s game with the third-ranked defense in Class AAAAA, allowing just 5.3 points per game, but the Patriots were no match for Deshaun Watson and Gainesville. The junior quarterback passed for 277 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 120 yards and two scores in the Red Elephants’ 42-14 victory. Gainesville and Flowery Branch are tied for first place in Region 8-AAAAA, a half-game ahead of Clarke Central.

*Huge game coming up for Riverwood: Riverwood is 5-0 for the first time since 1986 after its 55-27 victory over Northview, but the Raiders have compiled the impressive record against Class A Holy Innocents’ and four teams with a combined record of 2-14. The true test will come in next week’s game against Kell, the region’s preseason favorite. This is Riverwood’s 46th season of football, and only six times have the Raiders won more than five games.

Hey Chip. Advantage Tucker huh because of the “one” point difference over MLK. Well I say advantage MLK because Arabia scored 20 points against Tucker and only six points against MLK. It was aaaaalllmost a shut out. The real truth will be known pretty soon! It is about to get interesting.

Really Ha, Stephenson was playing in the state’s highest classification when they should have been playing in the classification with Tucker and every year looses by a field goal or touchdown in the 1st round of the playoff mainly because they get out coached. They are playing in the classification now that better suit them so Tucker, MLK NSWR etc. beware Your next AAAAA state championship for 2012 are Stephenson High Jagggggguarsssssssssss…

So Stephenson has been playing up in classification? GTFOHWTBS!!! This is a new season, stop making excuses for last year and the years before. After Tucker wins then what will be you excuse? So you know, Tucker is very well coached, so if that’s the difference then Tucker will most definitely win. Playing up in class, you guys kill me with the excuses.

BY THE WAY, The state got it all wrong by ranking you guys ahead of Stephenson & MLK but at the end of the year it’s going to be Stephenson (1st) MLK (2nd) Tucker (3rd) SWD (4th) HEADING INTO THE PLAYOFF WITH STEPHENSON PLAYING IN THE DOME…..

I did a little fact checking… So Stephenson enrollment for 2010 was 1,820 and the lowest 5A team Shiloh was 1,915 so you guys missed the cut by 90 students. And with the caliber of players you have that shouldn’t be that much of a jump to make. Btw Tucker enrollment was 1,423 only three more than the highest 3A team Wayne County sitting at 1,420. But kudos to Stephenson for making that BIG jump ;-)

@JAB…. Lol are you serious right now? Tucker was in 4A last year and went 15-0. You can sAy what you want going 15-0 is hard..in any class. But teams from 4A and 5A talent level is no different!! Ur telling me because Tucker was 4A they couldn’t win games in 5A? Cuz you no Tucker finished last season ranked 22 in the nation in all classes!! Your class only means you have more students!!! It has nothing to do with what happens on the field! Stephenson and tucker has scrimmaged 3 times with tucker winning Stephenson winning and a tie…so stop the BS… That’s the difference between Stephenson and Mlk… Mlk respects what tucker does and tries to follow in there footsteps..(look at the jerseys!) and that’s why Mlk has won the region the past 2 seasons and has gone farther than Stephenson!! WHICH TEAM IN DEKALB HAS WON 2 CHAMPIONSHIPS IN THE PAST 5 YEARS? WHO HAS 2 FINAL 4 APEARANCES? WHO IS 71-6 IN THE PAST 5 years?…..TUCKER!!!!so Stephenson fans you can talk but be real and respect TUCKER

Bcs2010 you are a joke…. MLK is not following in Tuckers footsteps, they are making their own!!! And are you really serious about they type of jerseys they wear as the reason they have won the region back to back? What about the coaches coaching and the players busting their tales on Fri night? King has faced a lot of adversity this year and they are still riding high and they will win the region this year as well. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!!

Please, Please, stop! The constant challenging a team to play- up. GHSA places teams based on their student population. If a school elects to play in a higher classification it is normally based on money factors. It has nothing to do about being afraid. There are HS Football polls that do not take size in consideration but pick rather who they think are the best teams in the respective state. Rivals.com is one of those. Some states also uses this method.

@ BcS2010, Stephenson has beaten up on several opponents; they have beaten Ware County when they were ranked in the top 10, they tied N. Gwinnett this year from the states highest classification, they beat chattaochee twice then they went on and won the state, they beat Harrison, then they went on and won the state, last year they lost by 7-0 to LOWNDES a state powerhouse. They have played in many big games but got into the playoffs and loose every year by either a touch down or field goal. i believe that the coaches & players are better suited for AAAAA and this year they will prove it with their 1st ring. I’ll see you Tucker/NSWR folks in several weeks after they are crowned the championship…

ALL has played many top programs. Arabia let Stephens and Tucker hype them up. Their offense could not move the ball but they did on Stephen’s and Tucker. Last i checked defense wins championships. ALL had a brutal schedule for the last 2 years. Vadodara community bookstore east coweta Newman coffee county and that’s to name a few. They should have beat Arabia by 50 points. The only way Arabia scored was on a pick 6. Their defense is only giving up about 5 points per game. Stephens tucker please. ALL has been battle tested. Go Lions

Tucker nor stephenson will beat mlk. The difference to me is the mlk staff is making every play count on offense. They have weapons so why unleash them on mediocre teams. Tucker and stephenson had to play hard just to get past Arabia. 2,10 and 23 are gonna torch those weak corners at tucker and stephenson and 33 will run over your LBs. MLK will show everyone why they are the King. Their defense is to fast. Just ask the Arabia mountain players. They said that tucker is big but mlk has the best defense

Tucker is the champ until beaten and should be #1, with Northside #2. Pretty sure East could beat an all star team of players from MLK and Stephenson so they should be #3. But it’s hard to tell with that soft schedule we have. Will there ever be any other good team west of Cobb county? I think Allatoona is overrated based on that soft schedule they’ve had, doubt they can beat any of the other top 10 teams.
The regular season is only half over but 10-0 looks very likely. Go Raiders! Go East!!

First – All the talk about Tucker and Stephenson pre-season match ups are just that TALK. Those games DID NOT count toward region championships, post season seating, deep play off runs and the ULTIMATE State Championships. History between these two football programs begins Oct 12th 2012, so people get off the pre-season nonsense, in about two weeks some fans will be boasting, while others will be running from the blog.

Second – The talk about Tucker not playing good programs is stupid talk. The Tigers history is long in match up with and against some of GA TOP programs. No Tucker has never played a season in GA top classification and we all know the answer for that, but Tucker has been final season ranked above MANY teams that play or played in GA highest classification and that does include Stephenson & MLK.

Third – Tucker’s previous region 6 has never been a weak region. The region contained multiple State Championship teams (Tucker, Marist, SWD, and Lakeside). How many teams in Stephenson and MLK previous region have these trophies residing in their school hallways? To me remarks like this say, Tucker should be scared of SHS & MLK because they played up. Well, SHS & MLK fans…that’s not going to happen it’s not breaded in a TIGER.

Last – I’ve mention this in other post, “5A Region 6 championship is for Tucker to LOSE and the other teams to WIN”. The BIG cat, in this jungle (5A region6), are the TIGERS OF TUCKER and Oct 12th, starts the feasting.

Stephenson Fans, the next line is for you!!!!! (LOL)

We see who gets the most respect & hate at the same damn time.. Stephenson. There is no question everything you said is a fact. Tucker has won 2 state titles Stephenson has won 0. But lets look deeper. On the othger hand no high school in the state of georgia Hell in the united states hasn’t done what Stephenson high School has done over the last 5 years. Putting over 100 student athletes in school. Now you can yell, stomp, or cry about state titles, but at the end of the day numbers speak for themselves. period! All I’m saying be careful about throwing state titles around about schools because when you can graduate and qualifiy as many quality kids in Stephenson program, it’s pretty hard to knock anything besides the “No State title thing”.

To MLK and Stephensen posters, you dont know speed until you suit up against Tucker. You beat a SWD team still trying to find themselves offensively but make no mistake about it, Tucker knows who they are and they run their offense as if they invented it. And on defense the speed is there as well. When these teams play against each other expect a Tucker team prepared for battle.

@ Tiger4life & All other TUCKER fans that hate on good programs: u say MLK offense suck?? how many games of mlk have u been too??.. YES we all know yall got two state titles and for that congrats but be honest with urself what TOP contender that you can actually say is a top contender have yall played since this yr or any of yall previous yrs..IN MY OPINION all the TOP competitors are mainly in 6A region(VALDOSTA,LOWNDES,CAMDEN COUNTY,BROOKWOOD, GRAYSON, ETC) majority of these BIG DAWGS got more than one championship under there belt. Now when you talk about us and stephenson not winning no championships its because we are constantly going against bigger teams that have that kind of resume..So now that yall finally caught up a region with BIGGER DAWGS we will see how mcuh of a difference yall yr will be ALTHOUGH yall still not playing any of the teams that MLK or STEPHENSON use to play. Yall think yall finally can say that yall can beat schools with bigger programs??(lol)..Lookin at your schedule from last yr if you would have taken MLK OR STEPHENSON and gave them TUCKER schedule, they would have not only been 10-0 in the regular season but probably went to state as well. Not trying to come down on dissin TUCKER because TUCKER is a hell of a team BUT you would think that a liil bit of RESPECT would been shown to to great programs that you never faced off against in the regular season, and are prone to being region champs.Tho they never won championships i can at least speak on MLK behalf when i say we at least beat bigger opponents that have won state titles b4 and done it numerous of times..So i dont think yall can just issue a “we gonna run over these cats” kinda campaign”.. IF u do win AND THATS A BIG IF trust and believe it will not be by that much like u did the other teams..But if we win all you gonna here from me is I TOLD YOU SO.. so with that said ….MEET ME AT THE 50!!!

I will agree with you, We only had 2 games in the regular season that gave us a true test. (Marist & SWD) After That it was a cake walk until the 3rd round against Flowery Branch. We beat a very tough NSWR team on thier field in the semi’s. Note they have only lost at home once since the 2000 season prior to us beating them. Also NSWR is the program that ran through to the State Championship game before losing to Camdem in 5A.

And don’t get wrong I like ML King and Stepenson, but don’t think cause they played in the highest classification that they are gonna run over the Defending Champs. We Do This, we don’t back down and scared is not vocabulary. We come to play every game and will set the tone when the whistle blow until the final horn sounds !!!

Since we been playin SWD in the regular season we beat em every yr following this yr with a shut out and now that stephenson is back to playing SWD they beat SWD with a bigger shutout 32-0. Dont sound like a true test to me especially if the hardest test for you guys was SWD AND MARIST.. if anything they are true test for each other since they use to go back and forth with wins against each other. @TUCKER DAD- Well thats an easy enuff explanatiom. We got knocked out of 6a region bcuz we didn have enuff players or basically the school population to meet the 6a criteria, which I THINK so dont hold me on this, but I think schools that having a population of 2000 or more kids advance you up to 6a.. Basically the more students u bring in the higher u r in the region..so we got knocked out bcuz we didn have enuff students..thats how it has been for a long while in ga football..We play by region. The bigger the school the harder the bout between a lower region team and a higher region team. The more students on a football team the better the odds of u winning ..

@East Fans and Allatona Fans

Getting way way ahead of myself here but what the heck isn’t that part of blogging…….speculation and what ifs.

Besides a region championship on 11/9 and a likely undefeated 10-0 regular season, it reward of the number #1 seed seems to be pretty important. The difference (assuming both can get by Reg8 foes in round 1……. Which is a huge if), the reward of the #2 seed is a likely second round game with Tucker at their place………….

The #1 seed would possibly get The Reg6 two seed at home.

Lot’s of incentive their if you ask me.
