Five things we learned this week –
- Parkview is the front-runner in Region 8 – Beating reigning state champion Grayson on Sept. 14 was the season’s biggest upset. Beating Archer on Sept. 21 avenged a 40-16 loss from last season. But beating arch-rival Brookwood 21-14 on Sept. 28 officially stamped Parkview as ‘’back’’ and the team to beat in Region 8. Chris Carson rushed for 257 yards and two touchdowns. Parkview – state champion in 1997, 2000, 2001 and 2002 – has not won a region title since 2004. Until Parkview beat Brookwood on Friday, many felt Grayson would still win Region 8 by winning its remaining games. Now, Parkview would need to lose twice. Not likely now.
- Camden County is a worthy No. 1 team – If anyone thought Camden was ranked No. 1 by default after 2011 champion Grayson was upended by Parkview, the Wildcats showed otherwise Friday, routing Valdosta 43-6. It was Valdosta’s most lopsided in its historic Bazemore-Hyder Stadium since 1974, when Thomasville, led by a pretty good back named William Andrews, defeated the ‘Cats 40-0. This was Camden’s first game in Region 1 after years of dominating weak 3-AAAAA. Make that 87 straight region victories for Camden. AJC Super 11 halfback/cornerback J.J. Green ran the opening kickoff back for the first of his two touchdowns. He also had two interceptions.
- Lowndes deserved its Top 10 ranking – Lowndes had been ranked No. 4 largely on tradition. The Vikings were 4-0, but against what the computer Maxwell Ratings described as the fifth-weakest schedule in AAAAAA. They looked pretty good Friday in beating No. 8-ranked Colquitt County 17-14 in Moultrie. Lowndes used a long punt-return touchdown by Tijuan Lang to take a 17-7 lead in the fourth quarter and held on. It appears that Lowndes and Camden are the teams to beat in Region 1. They play until Nov. 2, the final Friday of the regular season.
- Norcross can take care of business – Third-ranked Norcross won a shootout with Mill Creek, 49-41. Norcross is seeking its first region title since 2008, and the coast is almost clear. The Blue Devils’ 5-0 start includes wins over 2011 region champ North Gwinnett, 10th-ranked Parkview and a Mill Creek team that entered 3-1. The second half is not so tough – on paper.
- North Cobb can take care of business, too – Sixth-ranked North Cobb is 4-0 for the first time since 2007, a season in which it briefly was ranked No. 1. The Warriors routed 3-1 Harrison 48-14. The title in Region 4 is far from decided, but North Cobb’s 49-14 rout of 2011 Walton a few weeks ago is looking more legitimate each week. North Cobb is averaging 48 points per game.

I’ve got one thing to say: Camden is the real deal. No excuses, no alibis; we were taken to the woodshed by a well-coached, disciplined, and very talented team. Camden-Lowndes is shaping up as a titanic showdown.

Lassiter looked sloppy in a 30-7 defeat of Woodstock. Top 2 receivers did not play. Hopefully healthy for Walton next week. Game was a flag-fest. Lassiter had 2 long gains and a long touchdown wiped out by penalties and had an interception inside the 5 when Printz threw short to a wide open receiver in the endzone. Game was close midway into the 4th quarter until a touchdown run and interception return for TD put the game away. Lassiter may have been looking ahead to next week but Woodstock is a much better team than a 0-5 record would imply. Combined record of the 5 teams they lost to is something like 18-2.

Two underrated and underappreciated teams in AAAAAA are West Forsyth and Johns Creek, both undefeated and very impressive with their offensive execution. Both are exceptionally well coached and get every ounce of effort and ability out of their teams. They play this Friday at West Forsyth. Should be a good one.

North Cobb is the real deal this year…look for them to repeat the 07 season and finish the reg. season 10-0, and to make a deep push in the playoffs again. At the end of the reg. season look for the Warriors to be sitting pretty a top the polls. Look out Camden here come the Warriors. Fear the Spear!!

What we learned tonight was the fact that even though Colquitt Co. has the toughest schedule in the state, it doesn’t matter when you run into a squad that hasn’t really played anybody but can still play when it counted!! So, maybe Coach Mac knew what he was doing scheduling the lesser teams. Lowndes defensive unit came to play tonight. I believe #4 Lowndes moves up in the Rankings to #2 behind #1 Camden Co. The last game of the season for both squads will be a National Televised Showdown that could very well decide the Region 1-AAAAAA Title!! They know each other very, very well.
Should the rest of the state be worried?? I think so….Grayson is the only threat in North GA. and they own Lowndes!!

@57 cat: i was at the game. what had happened is, lhs defense shut down that high power offense and rush dont know what to do but cry cry cry. it is pathetic that his ego caused him to take all the attention away from the 50+ kids who played in the game(both teams) and played their hearts our and left it all on the field. he is a disgrace to the spirit of high school football. he says he will protest b/c he thinks that the tcc coaches on lhs sidelines were stealing his staff’s signals and calls and helping lhs figure out his gameplan. get real dude. why would tcc care so much about lhs football? they have their own program to run. besides, if his calls/signals are that easy to figure out, maybe it was actually our danceline or tuba section that figured them out and relayed it to our coaches. bottom line, our defense DOMINATED his somewhat talented but severly poorly coached offense.

Keep watch for Milton.. Team looks like a powerhouse. Strong offense coupled with a dominating defensive line and strong secondary that this week denied Wheeler’s passing game to the point where they couldn’t get anything going. Lassiter and Walton are in for a big surprise.. Count on Milton to creep up on everyone this year. Not to be taken lightly.

I assume Dickey and Jenkins were out? Injury or other reasons for them being out? From scores it would appear both Walton and Lassiter were looking ahead though Lassiter turned it on late.

They have the talent but have never shown the ability to put it all together over a full season. We will see though.

Lassiter Trojans are over-rated. They won’t stop lowly Walton this year. For me, it starts at the top and works like Reagan’s policies…trickle down economics but in this case, it’s drug use. Obviously it’s a big sign that poor leadership exist at the AD position. Besides recruiting (oops sorry that’s not allowed) football players and they have a great coach, their basketball continues to struggle. Good Lord, they almost failed to field a varsity women’s basketball team last year. It all starts when the yankees come down from NJ and start throwing their weight around and ruining the junior program which used to be well managed about 10 years ago when good people were in charge. Not only are the students suffering from poor leadership, mainly Art O’neil, but they continue to overlook mass use of marijuana throughout their programs. There are good kids in the program but unfortunately the bad kids continue to be allowed to play and spread their mischief throughout the school. I know now that I will not allow my children to attend a poorly managed school. If you live in this district and I’m specifically talking about Lassiter, do yourself a favor and send your kids to private schools. It’s a scar you shouldn’t have to put your kids through. If you have children coming up through the junior program, get out asap or you may find yourself locked into the “turn you head” self destructive behavior that encouraged because it is occurring in plain sight…yet all administration decide to ignore it and not make the pot smoking kids face some real consequences. Ask them…10 to 1 they’ll tell you the drug problem is common in all high schools and it’s not just them. It’s not as bad in Guyton, Athens, Valdosta and normally when it does rear its ugly head, strong ADs chop it off immediately. You won’t find that at Lassiter. Ask yourself now…Do you want to hear excuses and have your kids suffer because you failed to act on accurate information. You may be asking yourself, this guy/gal has an axe to grind…yeah it’s called being Godly. I’m blogging now so hopefully a lot of parents hear about this problem and either force change or remove your kids from this school district. Please don’t allow the administration at this school to take your family down. These are the facts and if you don’t believe me…ask around for yourself. Fair warning and I hope a lot of people come across this post so we can save our precious kids by changing the way Dr. Richie manages their program.

Its’ good to speculate, and all of this makes for some very juicy conversation….but there is still a lot of football left to be played. I’ve seen Camden play and they’ve been very impressive. I saw Grayson play, not so much…..it seems the team lacked a lot of playmakers. Of course I’m going to root for Lowndes because their the hometown team, but truly only time will tell who will left the state championship trophy. I think all of the aforementioned teams are good, but maybe none are great….once again late November will be the determining factor. That’s why you line-up, and strap up…..may the best team win.

There are so many things wrong with that comment I don’t even know where to start. Comparing the way Lassiter’s School is run to Ronald Reagan? Where in the world did you come that? First you start out by insulting the team itself then take it way off base and go into drug usage and insult the principle. And what the heck does the Basketball have to do with anything also? By the way you do know are Boys Basketball team upset Marietta in the region tournament just past this past season and made it to the semi finals? Don’t try to bring up things that have nothing to do with each other because you are going to find drug problems at ANY school in America.

Everybody is downing the Valdosta defense as being young and inexperienced.. I was at the game and the problem with this team is the WR’s, the play calling and decision making of the head coach. Valdosta had all the opportunities to make this game a dog fight. You can’t ask to have the ball on the 10yd line 3 times and only get 6pts. If the coach doesn’t start making better decisions to help his players out, it will be a LONG LONG season for this team.
KEY COACHING DECISIONS THAT HURT THE VALDOSTA WILDCATS vs. CAMDEN:
1. Valdosta has the ball 1st and goal on the 9yd line down 9-0 in the first quarter. Coach decides to pass instead of run and Camden intercepts in the end zone. (He did the same against BROOKS COUNTY at the end of that game!!!)
2.After scoring a TD and bringing the score to 16-6, coach goes for 2pt conversion instead of kicking extra point and making score 16-7!!!
3. Valdosta has the ball 2nd and goal from the 15yd line at the end of the half trailing 23-6. Valdosta drops a TD pass on 3rd down. Coach elects to try a 30yd field goal? What does a field goal do for you? You run a sophnore kicker out there, who has never played in this type atmosphere instead of going for it with your SR. QB.
4. Coaches makes NO personel changes after watching 2 players drop 4 passes each?
CAMDEN COUNTY has a GREAT TEAM, but the Valdosta head coach has alot of self checking to do!!!! He is not putting his players in the best position to be sucessful!!!

Now we start to hear the excuses as to why Valsosta lost to Camden. Point #2: 2 point conversion makes it a 1 score game. not getting it or kicking the extra point: still a 2 score deficit. point #3: if the FG is made, points on the board and momentum to start the 3rd quarter on offense. I will give you credit for a good point Camden does have a great team! That my friend was a great observation.

Region 1aaaaaa is so so correct. I couldn’t broke it down any better than this, we had chances this make this a dog fight and Camden couldn’t stop us from running the ball, we beat ourself and Coach G can make sum dumb decisions with his play calling. We need a mobile qb in this offense, but Coach like pocket qbs. We never going to the big game again unless we get another dual treat qb

@ mistermak – I am ot making any excuses for the loss, i’m just pointing out some key coaching decisions.
2. Toss sweep from the 4yd line is a great 2pt conversion play, when you know their strenght is speed on the outside? Kick the extra point and get your team some confidence.
Camden is a great team, but they are not unbeatable!!!!!
3. Its great to kick a field goal if you have a good kicker, but thats not the case for this team!! He will get better, but he is a sophmore and he’s not there yet!!!

@ reggaeman – I do think a mobile QB would help, but I think the QB Valdosta has is capable. His WR/TE are making him look worst than he really is. He threw for 181yds and would’ve had over 300yd if the WR/TE would catch the ball.

I also think Lowndes is getting to much props as well. The Packers offense is not explosive this year and they only averaging about 14 points per game this year and if you stop Lowndes from running you got them beat, plus this game was evenly match and i knew this game was going to be close. my Cats got a chance to beat them but we can’t have no drop passes and coach can’t abandoned the run if its working. I haven’t seen a team yet who could stop our running game but coach G is a passing coach, he live n die for the pass.

Coach Propst admitted in today’s paper that our OL just got whipped last night!
Too many sacks, a fumble and 3 interceptions!
Lowndes D is strong and fast!
Coach Propst main concern was that one of his old staff who’s with Lowndes may be stealing plays with binoculars from the crows nest on the visitors side.
Good game! Alot of mistakes and penalties on both sides.
On a good night for both they are pretty evenly matched teams.

Good job to all the teams that won last night. Looks like Parkview is the real deal this year, and they want to prove they are a high caliber team and are state title contenders. Now to head down South to the Region everyone is talking about.
The region race has just gotten interesting. With Lowdnes and Camden sitting atop it looks like a showdown is looming Nov. 2 in the Concrete Palace. Camden looked solid in its first Region game. Of course they have some things to work on, every team does, but they have done alot of things right, holding Valdosta to 6 points is no easy feat. But dont overlook Coffee and Colquitt. They still have shot to knock of Lowdnes and Camden, and Brunswick is another possible upset provider. That Lowdnes/Colquitt game must have been a thriller to watch. From the recap that @5-Time posted in another blog, it was a well fought game, in which Lowdnes edged Colquitt. The region is definately getting interested.

reggaeman…..Come back to reality! It would not have mattered what VHS did last night, the outcome of the game would have been the same! Whether winning by one point or 37, Camden would have won the game……..VHS had no answer for Camden’s offense! Camden, for whatever reason, decided to play coverage instead of putting pressure on the QB just before the half. IMO, that’s always a mistake when you’re facing a competent QB. I’m not even going to get into the Camden turnovers, phantom calls from the officials or the fact that Camden let up on offense and a running clock! STOP making EXCUSES! Especially when none of them would have made a difference in the outcome of the game! Go Camden County Wildcats!

Lowndes held Colquitt to minus 10 yds rushing the first half, and pretty much throttled the run the whole game. For the game, Colquitt’s passing got them 3 or 4 first downs, and they had one long (51 yds) TD pass. Other than that and a blocked field goal (caused by a bad Lowndes snap from center) that CC returned for a TD, and Lowndes completely manhandled Propst’s Wild Hog offense. For Propst to talk about his school’s administration on the post game radio interview was disgraceful. He said he’d be in his Superintendent’s office Monday at 8am TO COMPLAIN ABOUT HIS PRINCIPAL! This is the same guy who repeatedly walked onto the field to “talk to the ref’s”, which really was only a disguise to let his defense rest and catch their breath (Lowndes had them reeling!)
Throughout the last few years when so many people criticized coach Propst for recruiting Alabama players, his past personal conduct, etc., I took up for him and his coaching abilities. No Longer will I do that! He is egotistical and a poor example as a role model for his players.
Last night Lowndes controlled the clock, thanks in part to the play clock in the endzone at the Packer’s stadium. But Lowndes’ defense and new DC (Taz Dickson) mixing up the rush and blitz patterns kept the CC OL confusded all night
Lowndes stepped up to the plate and showed Propst that contrary to what he said in his pregame radio interview, CC is not more “physical than Lowndes”. (I still can’t believe he said that, but I heard it on the Viking radio broadcast with my portable radio!) From a fan’s view point it was a great game to watch, but had too many mistakes by the players. Lowndes had numerous motion penalties, holding penalties, and twice was flagged for delay of game. But those things can be corrected, and if they are, Lowndes could very well be undefeated when we met Camden in our last regular season game.
Final thought for last night’s games: The only thing better than Camden’s 43- 6 win over Valdosta would be if it had been 53-6!! Just saying.

We gave up 5 or 6 sacks=one fumble=3 interseptions=15 yards rushing=no offensive prodution until the 4th quarter=only ran 2 plays in the whole first quarter=less than 200 yards of offense and yet we still had a chance to tie or win in the final min of the game!!! Wow. We did almost everything wrong but still had a chance. Now we don’t have a defensive front like Lowndes or Grayson or even Lovejoy but our little defense comes to play 4 quarters and they were on the field it seems like for 40 mins last night and still only gave up one offensive TD despite all the bad situations our offense put them in. Great job defense now if we can only get our offense to wake up we might be ok

Valdosta does have a young defense. They were able to move the ball on the ground against Camden, but those mistakes were too costly against an outstanding team. We can’t blame the game on Gillespie, because for the most part he called the game well. All coaches will make bad decisions from time-to-time. The receivers for Valdosta just did not execute at all, and they appeared to be scared. Never mind bragging from Camden, they deserve it, their team won. Valdosta should to continue focus on their goal, rebuilding a great football program. Lowndes and Coffee I am glad you both have already claimed a win against Valdosta. Even though the V-Wildcats did not win, other than the dropped passes from the receivers, I thought they played an overall better brand of football. Camden is not the state’s #1 team for nothing, they are good. I hope the V-Wildcats fans that hate Gillespie find another team to support. Gillespie is more successful than Nick Hyder was when he came to Valdosta. We love our Wildcats, and will cheer them on just as hard when they play the MIGHTY VIKING AND MIGHTY TROJANS. I disagree with comment that Valdosta beat themselves. Valdosta did not play a bad game, and they were able to move the ball on Camden. I think they gained 278 total yards thats not bad against a good no an excellent well coached Camden team. Camden played mistake free football and they took advantage of Valdosta’s mistakes, and the team did an excellent job executing their coaches game plan. Valdosta overall played well, but their receivers appeared to be scared to catch the ball, and they dropped a lot of key passes. You can’t have those mistakes against an excellent program. I really enjoyed the game, and believe their is no excuse for the loss. Valdosta’s goal is to rebuild it’s program before the Camden game, and they should have that same after the loss. I think Camden is more welcomed to region 1 than they think. The addition of Camden to region makes things more exciting.

Camden may well be a “great” football team, but when faced wtih a great Defense, of which they have not seen yet, this will tell the story. The coming weeks in Region 1AAAAAA will shake out the truth. I recall several years ago in Kingsland, Camden was beating Coffee, but in the second half Coffee shut down their offense and ended the game within 4 or 5 points. Teams that can effectively make adjustments and have a good enough defense can and will give Camden a run for their money. Coffee and Coach Pruitt just might be that team! Case in-point: Tift County’s R. Daniels was held to 41 yards of rushing, whereas in the previous 4 games he amased 800+ yards. Defense is what wins ball games. Let’s not fool ourselves, on any given Friday night…. anything can happen….

Great win Lowndes!!! Lowndes defense played hard. So much for us not being physical. Honestly I wasn’t all that impressed with Colquitt Co. but there is also much room for improvement for my Vikings as well. We have got to improve on these false starts. As far as this region goes I think it’s a little too soon to be crowning Camden or Lowndes. It’s hard to run the table on 1-AAAAAA. Yes Camden got an impressive win against Valdosta last night but we all know that this Valdosta team really isn’t exactly top notch this season, let’s just be honest here. Gman— If you can stop the run, and I emphasize if…Camden will beat you thru the air which is something they didn’t have ’several’ years ago. Just ask VHS what happened every time they starting stacking the box and running those safeties up. Ramsey is for real. Yea it is a long way until the season is over but I think ya’ll have to agree Camden can play ball and they will have to be reckoned with. Good luck next week…should be a good one! Valdosta played better than the score indicate. They were playing against the #1 team in the state and #7 in the nation. Valdosta did not win last night, but they never laid down and played for 48 minutes.

I don’t know what the h… you are talking about. No one is making excusing, but only mentioning the mistakes Valdosta made. Camden ran the ball well, but did not run it at will. When Valdosta made some good defensive stops. Six of Valdosta’s defensive starters: #4 cornerback (Sophmore), #30 linebacker (Junior), #29 cornerback (Junior), #99 defensive tackle (Junior), #38 linebacker (Sophmore), #34 linebacker (Sophmore), #22 safety (Senior first time player). So, you should not parade around like I have beat the Chicago Bears. I did say you and not Camden’s team, because I know they know better.

I was very impressed with the Wildcats of Camden County last night. The support that community shows for that team is amazing. How do you out number Valdosta,…at Valdosta? No fan from any school can argue that they aren’t deserving of their #1 state ranking. I saw a well coached, fundamentally sound football team on both sides of the ball. For years Camden has been mocked for their dominance of a very weak and over-matched region. I understood and even agreed with all the fuss, but I couldn’t help but notice Camden’s success in the playoffs (vs. Region 1 and others) and against out of state programs the likes of Hoover, Maimi Central, and Aiken,SC. That performance last night was a statement. Maybe the days of 77-0 scores are over, but 43-6 is just as dominant. People, they went to a “RUNNING CLOCK” at Bazemore-Hyder stadium to save the home team from further embarrassment! Worst loss at home for Valdosta since 1974? Nearly 40 years of football. I recall a storied program joining this region a few years ago after dominating lesser opponents for years by the name of Northside Warner Robbins. Their two year stint of “BigBoy” Region 1 football was an impressive 12-2 mark and instantly made me a admirer of their program and kids. It’s no suprise that both of those seasons ended with losses to the “they don’t play anyone” Wildcats of Camden.
So let’s put this argument about Camden being overrated and so successful due to an easy schedule to bed PLEASE….they have convinced me over the years and any remaining doubt was blown away the first 10.5 seconds of that game last night as J.J. Green took the opening kick-off back for a score! LOL….Wow…
Congrats to Camden on a great win, and welcome back to the party Parkview’s Panthers! This is going to be a great season of Georgia football!

@A Viking Fan -I know you don’t care, but I try very hard to support my fellow Lowndes county teams, but Vikings fans like you make it awfully difficult. @mistermac – On the post game radio show, probst claimed a former coach, apparently with another school(not identified), was stealing signs from the press box with binoculars and relaying them to Lowndes. Kept saying it was his fault for letting it happen. I have no clue if it was true or not but it was the poorest form of sportsmanshio I have seen from him via radio or tv. I could not believe he was saying it – made him look like a prick imo.

Mistermack those 3 juniors and the senior are playing for the first year. The Valdosta defense is very inexperienced, I’m sorry you can’t claim victory over a steller defense, but it’s just the truth. Just keep prancing around like you beat a steller Valdosta team, and the day will soon come when you walk off the field with your tails up your blue a….es. I doubt if you can win out in this region though with only four true players. Believe me as long as Camden stays in this region, they will have many days to lick their wounds. So, we aren’t worried about the trash talk. To dominate this region, you will have to field this same type Camden team year-in-year-out.

GMAN57, That was in 2010 and the final score was 28-18. Camden had 342 yards rushing. They scored 14 points in 1st quarter and 14 points in the 2nd quarter. The score was 28-0 at halftime. Started 2nd half with reserves and finished with reserves. Coffee scored 6 points in the 3rd quarter and 12 in the 4th quarter. Camden not scoring does not mean that Coffee shut them down. Looks like the coach called off the dogs to get other players some time. Camden is in a no win situation, they will never be given their just due, irregardless of region play. As I said before, they win and the other team is young and beat themselves, they lose and they cannot handle region 1. Well I saw a butt kicking friday night in Valdosta, the score could have been way worse, the 4th quarter brought on a running clock and removal of starters to get some playing time for the younger players. Class act by Coach Heron, if he wanted to make a statement, he could have left the starters in and ran the score to 50 or 60 plus, but he has to much class for that. Camden looks to still have some things to work on, but they are and will be formidable. Coffee, you will have your hands full come friday night. Say what you want, Camden will be ready, you can believe that. Yes there is a lot of season left, this is the fun time, Lowndes went into Colquitt and beat Colquitt, that’s a fact. Let’s stop worrying about the what if’s. These are the facts from friday, Camden won, Lowndes won and Coffee won, all region wins. No matter how or by how many, they are wins. Fact Colquitt lost, Valdosta lost and Tift lost. All 1 region game down.

YO AND 57CAT — I certainly don’t want to see anyone get beat 53-6, but that commit was mainly to rile up, in fun, my many Cat friends. But you do have to admit that Valdosta fans have ridiculed the Vikings since our school was created with the merger of Hahira High School and Lowndes County High School. Lowndes High School was built on my family’s farm, (the next year Westside also joined the new Lowndes High). Many, many Wildcat fans would love to see Lowndes lose 53-6 every week. I support and pull for all region 1-AAAAAA teams in all sports, but trust me, I admit I do not like ever pulling for Valdosta to win. I do it because of region loyalty, but I don’t like it. But you know what, none of us can cause a team to win or lose by whether or not we pull for them on these blogs. Wins are won on the field, by players and coaches. True, good fans are like a team’s 12th man. And all our region teams have tons of great fans. The 12th man on Friday night can indeed help a team win.
Good luck to ALL region 1-AAAAAA teams (except when you play Lowndes) and a big, big welcome to Camden and Brunswick! Let’s bring the Title back to South Georgia!

What people don’t seem to understand about football is that it’s a game of momentum and mistakes are going to be made. The signs of a good team are talent based to some extent but it’s also about the mental. Those drops by Valdosta were mental but thats a critical aspect of the game! STOP saying if this if that… I could say if Camden blocked better and if Brice had completed two more passes we would have scored ANOTHER touchdown. But we made mistakes and we didn’t…. End of story. Just like last year against colquitt…. If we hadn’t missed tackles if we had better pass coverage… Where will the ifs stop? Camden wasn’t good enough last year… End of story. No excuses. Valdosta made way too many mistakes but that’s the sign of a good team… Get better and cut out mental mistakes. Stop with the ifs… That’s part of football!!

If you have juniors and seniors that are playing for the first time, well then sounds like your coaches need to find a way to get them on the feild more often to get that experience. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings. I never said we would walk thru the region unscathed. We surely have a long road ahead and it will be fun to watch either way. All I know is for years we took it on the chin because of the weak region we played in, despite the fact that we had a pretty good record against Region 1 thru the years. Here we go. This post is not to the people on here who don’t make excuses for their team losing. Camden can’t win. The majority of the post on here is not how Camden won but how Valdosta gave the game away. I guess they decided to let J.J. Green run the opening kickoff back just because. Hey let’s throw a few interceptions to Camden DB’s because they are good player’s. Hey let’s let the fullback run free for 4 yards ever time he touch the ball. Every time we kick the ball off in the enzone I guess Valdosta’s weather had something to do with that. I guess the way our linebacker played all game, Valdosta just decided not to block him. I am trying to help the Valdosta excuse givers some more excuses. Again this is not to the Valdosta Fans who gave Camden credit for winning. The most important lesson whether you win or lose is to put the past behind you and press on towards the goal! These are young men pouring their heart and soul out on a football field for us to admire their efforts. If they make a mistake or 2 do we judge them for their inability to make a play or do we admire them for being out their do the best they can?
I believe these young men who play football do a better job forgetting about the past then we do. The young men go back to the Chalk Board(White Board now) and try to better themselves with hard work and dedication while we write post throwing mud at each other like we are the individual who are out their playing football.
When I was at Valdosta Friday Night I took everything in and just lived in the moment as every player, coach and fan should have been doing. I witnessed 2 incredible football programs with Valdosta Celebration 100 years of incredible tradition and accomplishments, We all witnessed a prayer to start the evening that helped remember the freedoms we have and the blessings God has given us. We heard the National Anthem to unite us in unison as we sang in honor of the Red, White and Blue.
We witnessed a game being played on a field of competition that again shows all of us that these young men are their to not just entertain us, but to help see their passion for the sport they love and are willing to sacrifice their time, efforts and energy for. How dare we criticize these young men for the mistakes they made when we ourselves would we like Bad News Bears playing out there or probably a whole lot worse.
I do love Camden County Wildcats even more than any team out there whether it be high school, college or professional. I do admire the incredible history and tradition of Valdosta High School and they stage one of the most incredible atmospheres in all sports.
My final thoughts for all of us is why don’t we thank these young men for representing our respective schools and communities. Thanking these young men means a whole lot more to developing their life long character than criticism.

The botom line in the CAMDEN/VALDOSTA game is Camden has the better team. I do think Valdosta could’ve helped themselves by catching some passes, but thats all part of the game. The 1 good thing for Valdosta is they have a 2wks to prepare for Lowndes. I said in the beginning of the season Camden would win the region this year, they are just loaded with talent. Valdosta will get better as the year goes on. I think the VALDOSTA/LOWNDES game will be a good game because of Valdosta’s familiarity with Lowndes and their personel.
I talked to some Valdosta coaches and they said “You can watch JJ Green on film, but until you see his speed in person, its hard to duplicate in practice!”

@ bksmith14 – That was a great win over the Pack for the Vikings. However, I wouldn’t get too carried away with the state title boast just yet.
1. The defensive scheme you used against the Pack is the same plan Valdosta has used against Propst for the last 2yrs. TAZ DIXON, your new D-Cordinator was the DB coach at Valdosta for 2yrs. We always used a blitzing type scheme against the Pack. Dixon has changed the Lowndes defensive scheme from a out dated 5-2 to a speed type blitzing multiple front scheme. Lowndes had no clue how to defend the Pack last year!!!! Dixon is doing the same thing he learned at Valdosta by schemeing to just beat teams with speed. That scheme will work if you have alot of experienced players on defense, just like Valdosta did last year.
I also think the addition of coach Lucas on the D-line is going to help Lowndes next year. Those were 2 big coaching losses for Valdosta that may come back to haunt the CATS.
GO CATS GO!!!!

Camden playing in a weak region mess mainly came from the Atlanta area and the ajc. People in Valdosta area already knew that Camden normally field talented teams, its not like Valdosta or Lowndes have not played Camden several times before. Valdosta has beaten Camden, Camden has beaten Valdosta, Lowndes has beaten Camden, Camden has beaten Lowndes, and so on. So, nobody really by into the weak region mess. Coach Heron is an excellent coach, who will always have his team ready, and Camden traditionally play hard. I nor we are making excuses, but I am trying to say do not parade around like you beat a solid defensive team, or you will suffer the same fait as Grayson, that’s what I was trying to say without putting Grayson’s name in it. Camden played solid offensive football, I think they need some work on the defensive line, but they won it and deserved to win it. Rance Gillespie was brought in because Valdosta felt he could rebuild their program, and I think he is doing an excellent job of doing that. Valdosta has come a long way the past few years. A lot of Lowndes fans think we are just a bunch of thugs, and the ajc put an article in the their paper years ago with the title vanishing Valdosta. Saying they can’t wait til we fall off the face of the earth. I thought it was a rather cruel article for a group of high school kids out there doing their best. Lowndes fans continually claim Valdosta can’t compete in the highest classification, even though Valdosta won its region last year. The thing I like about Valdosta and Lowndes is that their players are not recruited, but are raw local talent and not on creatine (Atlanta area). Mark this post. Give Valdosta a year or two, and they will be right back into the hunt. These kids are really working hard to get better. I am sorry the Valdosta family will defend their cats against anyone or anything. No, we don’t thrive on, but we do love the tradition that has been built. Finally, I do think Camden will be this years State Champion, and they are an excellent team, with an excellent fan base.

I think Gillespie knows that, and has already made adjustments to his offense. You have to be careful about blitzing Valdosta. Coach Heron was really smart not to blitz all night. Valdosta has a number of receivers that is capable of catching the ball, and blitzing too much would have opened up some things for Valdosta. So, I thought it was really smart of him. Also, I have never witness a coach use his timeouts as affectively as Heron. When Valdosta got momentom and their fans got into the game, he would call a timeout.

@bksmith=Good job your newly aquired defensive coach because he did a good job of confusing our offense with timely blitzes just like he did last year when he was at Valdosta but your offensive coach did leave points on the field when he out smarted his self inside the 20 a couple of times by trying to pass.Lowndes is good i will give u that but and as far as saying Camden will take a step back next i really woudn’t think that way because like Lowndes they are a not just a football team, they are a program and programs have coaches who don’t wait till the next summer to find replacements for graduating seniors they get youngsters playing time as early and as often as they can.A football guy like yourself already knows things like this thats why i was surprised to read a comment like from u cause you are smarter than that. When Ramsey and JJ Green leave Camden will replace them with someone who may not be better but who will still be major factor for any defense to plan for, I mean Lowndes was just as strong the next year after Greg Reid and that talented group of seniors left am i right.I can’t say that Moultrie is a program because we just got a program building coach bout 4 years ago but Lowndes (coach Mac) and Camden(coach Heron) have been build your programs since they been their and have built some of Ga best programs i must say but congrats on the win friday and even tho i am dissapointed about the lost i do wish u guys the best the of the way and you know how it is come playoff time its us against north ga

wildhawg……..anyone on here can debate me anytime they want to……i will be wrong sometimes but not to often………camden will be good next year…they are every year………but they will take a step back bc they have not had a qb like brice ramsey prob ever and jj green is prob the best if not one of the best backs they have ever had………i can name others…….but losing these two players …especially brice ramsey is going to hurt them next year…….yoiu will see…….copy and paste this and save it on your computer and next year you can get on here and tell me i was right…………
ramsey does so much….kicks all kickoff in endzone….kicks fgs when needed…….and is a great passer……
i never said camden would not be any good next year……..they will be good ….but next years camden team is NOT going to be as good as the team they have this year……..that does not mean they will not compte for region and not make playoffs next year bc they will…..i am just satying that with ramsey and green….this is prob their best chance to win state since the last time they did

if not for ramsey……….i feel lowndes would beat camden with no problem this year when we play them………but bc of him…..i give them the edge,,,,he is that good

I am a Lowndes graduate and I come to the Atlanta paper to read up on Lowndes. Got to say I am kind of amused that everyone else from South Georgia appears to be in here too, it sounds like a South Georgia chat board. The AJC staff must surely be aware that they aren’t strictly a North Georgia paper, not running on the internet – it doesn’t matter where the reader lives if you are covering something of interest to him/her. Granted there were two major games in 1-AAAAAA Friday night, still, when the AJC covers south Georgia teams, a lot of people outside Atlanta appreciate it.

@ Todd. There’s a coaching scandal erupting at Lowndes. Former Colquitt County assistant and current Thomas County Central assistant coach Buzz Payne is caught on video allegedley using binoculars staealing plays and conferring with Lowndes coaching staff in the press box. How ethical is this? Thought you might want to be aware. A NBC affiliate is investigating and is going to break it tomorrow.
TCC’S Bill Shaver has distanced himself on Saturday:

@Region 1-AAAAAA. Yes, we are better off than we were four years ago. Coach Gillespie has put in place a system that will provide a feeder system of teams that will learn his scheme from the 6th grade up. It will take some time for that to bear full fruition, but it will come. Remember, it took Coach Hyder 7 years before he won his first State Championship at Valdosta. There will be bumps. In the road, but he deserves our patience. You can bank on one sure thing: there will be no unethical practices in the program.

If you saw the game the other night or any of Camden’s other games, you’d notice that there’s damage being done by more than just J.J. and Brice. Not saying that losing these two won’t hurt, because it probably will. But there are other players coming up waiting for the chance! Camden’s last two titles were won by first year starters at QB! My concern is ALWAYS on defense first……..That’s where J.J. will be missed, but someone else will step up!

BK, really we set it up? We put a guy in a Lowndes shirt with binoculars under your press box. Your coaches are not that stupid. And I doubt you are either.
With that said, I do believe if Probst or any of us have issues, we should contact someone who can do something about it. Both teams played a hard game. Lowndes scored more points, and for that they deserve the win.
For anyone. if the sign stealing occurred as suggested, does it break rules? If the guy in what appears to be a Lowndes shirt is a coach from another team, does that break rules?

It’s cheating in the NFL. Ask the New England Patriots. The Lowndes Vikings gave all of the TCC coaches side line passes. So how did the Packers set it up? It’s quite obvious that Lowndes knew something about it as well. Sideline passes were given out. You can’t lie your way out of that bksmith14. The TCC coaches have admitted to that!!!!

Who is shooting the video of the Lowndes coaches in the press box?
AVikingFAN
October 1st, 2012

In reference to “Video Gate”, if when watching the video, you count 5 people to the left of Buzz Payne (to his right, but left when looking at the video) and you will see me. I too was sitting/standing on the top row of the visitor’s stands and in front of the Crows Nest (Visitors Press Box). There is a thick plexiglass window that seals that part of the press box from fan noise and chatter where the coaches sit. I personally tried talking to them several times but they could not hear me through the plexiglass. I seriously doubt they could hear Buzz Payne either.
Ed Hooper, Sports Editor of the Valdosta Times was standing behind the Lowndes coaches in the Crows Nest. He had been denied entry to the main press box on the home side of the field (That’s true but I still can’t believe it!!! Oh well, that’s Colquitt County for you!!!!!!) Ed Hooper stated he did not hear any exchange of information or any tipoff about plays, etc, stolen from Colquitt’s cry baby Rush Propst by Buzz Payne to any Lowndes coaches.
When watching the video, look to the right of and just behind Buzz Payne and see a man in a black Colquitt shirt with khaki trousers. He was in charge of admission to the Crows Nest, which implies he has some degree of administrative authority. He could hear everything Buzz said. Ask him if there was any “stealing of signals.”
In Rush Propst’s pregame radio interview with station 99.5, he said Colquitt was more physical than Lowndes. I wonder if he thinks so now. In Propst’s post game radio show on 93.9 he said he was upset with his own school administration and would be in his Superintendant’s office at 8am Monday. I heard it, and when I saw Bob Jones, Principal of Colquitt High School after the game, I mentioned it to him. He said the Supt was with him when Propst ranted about some Thomasville Central coaches on the Lowndes “sideline”, and “wanted them removed”, but neither of them saw or could find any TCC coaches on the field. Another CC administrator told me jokingly as I walked out the gate that “we may send Propst down to Lowndes to Coach with ya’ll the rest of the year.” I politely told him we didn’t want a man like Propst at any of our schools.
The truth about the whole thing is Buzz Payne dispises RP. Donning an Alabama shirt and standing in front of the Crows Nest with binoculars was his way of getting into RP’s head. Apparently it worked. Propst lost control during and AFTER the game.
I hope this honest information helps clear up the confusion about this unfortunate incident.

@BKSMITH14, Some of the statements you’ve made about Camden I truely agree. But taking a step back next year? Not at all. They have a stable of running backs coming back next year. We have a freshman that is a JJ clone, the only reason he isnt playing more is because JJ is still here, lol. We have a back up kicker that puts the ball deep into the end zone everytime, just like Ramsy. Now our passing game may suffer a little but I like the way the team looks for years to come.

AVikingFAN, Thanks for the report.
Around 37 seconds in the video(which is poor quality) it does appear that BP made eye contact with someone in the press box and possibly gave a sign with his right arm over his chest. Could be coincidence, I do not know. But if he did this just to piss off RP and exchanged no info, he did a hell of a job at getting into RP’s head which I find amusing. You are definitely right about RP losing control after the game.
I thought the article in the T’ville paper was pretty good. I have no issues with the TCC haed coach being at the game and whereever they were. Also, I have known Mike Singletary for 10+ years and know that he has too much integrity to be involved with something like this.

Why is he at our game sitting directly in front of your coaches in the box while on video giving them plays? Thanks for your ONE time answer, every word you said has been said all over this board. You know nothing about the situation at all. Ask your coach, he went crying to GHSA about it and they basically laughed at him. Again, do you know more about it than they do? No you don’t. You talked crap about us when Segraves moved here and your QB is playing musical chairs. So he moved around schools til he found one he could start at? Like I’ve said before, I don’t have a problem with it, just admit you’re doing the same. Again, where do you get your info from that the GHSA doesn’t know about? They cleared those players themselves, what else do you need?

Ya’ll played a great game, and both qbs played well. It wasn’t the lack of your team effort, One region loss as you know doesn’t mean much in our region.. You know as well as I do that we have at the least 4 legit contenders and maybe even 5 to go all the way.
Ya’lls esecution was right on, few penalties, maybe a fewer dropped passes than would have liked, but ya’ll played lights out on offense, and the score showed how the game was played..2 great teams in r1 going all it. still early in region play, both of us hopefully will make it into the playoffs, and hoping go deeper for us than lately.
people that don’t have much to do will complain about anything, so don’t pay gossip, naysayers, etc… no never mind.. Ya’ll had a great team and hope ya’ll do go even deeper and IMO if it ain’t us winning it all I hope it is you all. keep bringing it..

Plain & simple, Rush Propst is an a-hole. He is on the refs just about every play to call a penalty. Just ask anyone who has been on the sidelines with him during a game. This gig of someone stealing his signals is just his latest rant. He needs to go back to Alabama where they can appreciate his being an idiot.

Again, no one is taking anything away from Lowndes. They played a great and have tremendous program. Colquitt respects the crap out of Lowndes as does rush. He said y’all are a great program, easily top5 in the state and top 50 in the country. My whole thing is quit accusing him of stuff like players transferring when Lowndes and everybody else does the same thing. It’s all about the kids and he’s sent close to 40 kids to college the last three years. Nobody wants to talk about those kind of things

Well after all of the yak yak, some folks need to let it go. This is high school football. What next, Jimmy Hoffa buried in a stadium in Georgia? The week is here, Coffee you got what you waited for since Camden eliminated you from the playoffs. All of the chatter will come to a head friday night in Kingsland. Both teams stats in the first 5 games are even. The game friday will give someone a game or two up in the region. A lot of chatter about how strong the Coffee defense is and how deep the bench is, we will all get to see. I will be traveling to Kingsland to see this game. I have seen Camden in the dome and last week in Valdosta, have yet to catch a Coffee game, so all I know is what I have read, I will not comment on what they have or don’t have. Camden is not very big on defense, but they are fast and strong. The secondary is better than previous years, but is still susceptible to a short passing game at times. Cannot figure out why folks throw #5 way. He either knocks receivers out or intercepts the ball. Offensively, they run the Wing-T, with a passing twist. If you just focus on the running, they will get you deep for a touchdown. No back is a featured back, each one of the numerous ones possess different facets in the offense, assignment football is a must, but even if you are assignment strong, the speed and athletic ability will get you. Like I said earlier, I cannot comment on what Coffee has or not, I have not seen them play in person. I don’t believe in watching a game on a computer or TV, too much is happening that you don’t get see on those two venues. So, if you are not physically at the game all of your observations are sckewed.

I posted this on another venue where the conversation is along the same lines. For what it’s worth.
Hey you Camden dudes. I saw Camden in the classic. And they looked really good. But not the way you describe them today. If they are as super amazing as you describe them. Well. You are going to kick everyone’s ass and that is all there is to it.
Coffee has what Coffee has. The Trojans are disciplined, substitute a lot and play as a team. I have seen, on several occasions, opposing players slap the kids up side the head. They back up and take the fifteen yards. We have an excellent young QB. Accurate and smart and strong. A couple of wide receivers that are attracting attention, a big TE that can catch with his hands, a stong O line and good D backs with excellent LB’s. Our front 3 on D are average. The Trojans will come to play and play a physical game that we can leave with our heads up. Regardless of the outcome.
So. Let’s play the game. We look forward to being Camden’s first guest from region 1.
GO TROJANS!!

Colquit Fan I’m not avoiding your question. It is legal for a kid to transfer but you shouldn’t be finding momma a job to get them from out of the state of Alabama and into your county. That we didn’t do. Amazing how jobs are so scarce in Moultrie for those who don’t have good linebackers for kids. Now that rumor is a lot more likely than the mess you are trying to push out if you knew any thing about football.

colquitt had boys come in from alabama that had already played 12th grade football and graduated in alabama……..they found their parents jobs………this is fact bc i have freinds in colquitt that know…
they went after cole seagraves and offered his dad a job on the coaching staff in return for him transferring over………
lowndes wins with homegrown boys…..or boys who choose to come to lowndes on their “OWN”

And get over it, you don’t know crap about Moultrie or the people that live here. Is that like your source that told you we set it up, who is your source the Easter bunny? Or Santa Claus?

I am an ardent fan of Colquitt County, first of all. And I don’t really know what level of assistance the Viking football staff got. Whether they were helped or not, I don’t know. But I do know this, Probst’s comments have made a lot of bad blood between him and the other schools. His outward comments were very wrong and very unprofessional. I, for one, expected more from him. Our community is very divided over this issue. A change will come, I believe. Colquitt got whipped offensively and defensively on Friday night. We had some successes, but for the most part, we got whipped. Congratulations to Lowndes for the win. Shame on us for letting it happen. I do expect the Packers to be in the hunt in post season. I hope we will regroup this Friday night against Tift County. Meanwhile, as a former parent of a Packer, I grieve for what has occurred. I guess we have to wake up with the one we went to bed with…

sportsnut……..Didn’t really have you in mind when writing that post. I would love to see Camden and Lovejoy square off! But Lovejoy will have to field a more discipline team than they did against Colquitt if they intend to win. I expect Camden to keep improving on both sides of the ball. The first thing they need to do is make it through region play with all players healthy, then start their run for the title! This year’s playoffs will be very competitive. There are at least, IMO, five teams with a solid shot at winning it all this year. But my money is on Camden, especially if they can seal the deal on defense!

CoffeeC100,
Substituting numerous players has always been Camden’s way. This is not something that they just started to do. That is why they don’t have one particular back to target. Helps build your program for the future when you can run 3-4 different backs in at a time, from freshman to seniors. Helps a lot when 4 or 5 different folks are scoring a game. I am sure Coffee will be well prepared as will Camden for this region 1 show down. Safe travels to the Coffee fans who will be traveling to the southeast corner of Ga friday.

Seagraves came to Moultrie after he resigned from his job at White County. See the article on his resignation here. http://blogs.ajc.com/georgia-high-school-sports/2010/10/08/white-county-coach-resigns-amid-domestic-violence-allegations/ The article says he was on administrative leave before resigning. The guy has got to have a job and I am sure in the circumstances his son would want to go to a school where his father coaches. (Now the fact that we hired him if the allegations were true is a whole other story)
Just because your friends from Moultrie told you something does not make it true. That is like, “It was on the internet so it must be true.” If those two Alabama transfers truly played a fourth year of football before transferring then you should be pissed at them for allowing it. I will ask the same thing I asked last year – where is the documented proof that you have that they played 4 years in Alabama? If you have it, show us.
For the record,I have no issues with the transfers of the Lowndes QB or Seagraves. NOr do I have a problem with the Valdosta QB who transferred after losing his job in Moultrie to Seagraves.

I’ll say it once again, you don’t know more about the situation than they do. If they cleared them, then that’s all that matters. If they’re eligible them they’re eligible. And I can assure you, there wasn’t close to this much fan support before Propst came to moultie, I don’t care what any packer fan says or one of your mythical “sources”. Not even close.
And we weren’t asking for the outcome to be changed at all. Lowndes won the game, y’all played well. Both defenses are well above the rest I’ve seen so far. We’ll submit our findings and were moving on to the next game. If Lowndes is cleared, great. But if not, some kind of punishment should be made. Lowndes has a great team and great fans, although the band is annoying. But there are things that need looking at from that game that’s all

@Packdaddy said “Probst’s comments have made a lot of bad blood between him and the other schools.” Funny you should say that. I was reading the comments on AJC and other blogs and that very thought ran through my mind. I know most coaches aren’t best buddies with the other coaches, but generally there appears to be respect for the others and a tendency to close ranks within a region or a county in the case of Gwinnett with 2 regions against outside challengers. I was wondering today how the other coaches in R1 were feeling. I know CRP is a good coach that has done a lot for the Packers and the community and has gone beyond just the high school to help build the feeder program. I am reminded of the statement about the mouth making promises the rest of the body is not able to keep. It is a shame.

It pains me that so much of the blogging has to be about scandal and cheating, instead of the great football played in our state and the amazing young men that represent our schools and communities.
In my objective opinion, theres no way to be 100% sure what or if this coach was “stealing” or “translating” info for the Lowndes assistants in the booth.
Maybe the Colquitt official in the area never noticed anything because they were using a bluetooth…..
Maybe Buzz just wanted to get a birds eye view of Propst’s frustration during game….
I find it hard to accept that the Lowndes coaching staff would take part in something so beneath their outstanding program..
However, for him to be who he is, where he was, turnin, talking, and using binoculars in a high school stadium of that size…….is asking and begging for trouble!

@ Camden74 == I understand. Just as your team will get better as the season goes, so will the Cats. I, like you feel that my team is better than many of the others. To be honest with you, Camden is the only team I think can beat Lovejoy at this point. Having seen the top teams at least once, this is a solid thought. Speaking of improving, we already have. The Colquit game was just stage freight in my opinion. We are not accustomed to playing in such a cozy little place. Keep in mind who we are talking about. Lovejoy is no push over. When the playoffs come around, it will be the same as a year ago, “now you get tested”,”you haven’t played anybody”, “your season ends next week”. We all know where it ended. We all know who fell on that road. Did you notice that we share mascot names and school colors? Would love to meet Camden if at all possible. It would , in my opinion be a great game.

sportsnut……I like Lovejoy, but they have the same issues that very athletic teams have, lack of discipline. Maybe I should explain what I mean when I say LACK OF DISCIPLINE, 1) they depend far too much on their athletic ability and don’t use proper technique most times. 2) Too much selfish play, it’s not about the individual, it’s about the team! 3) Attention to detail, if a play calls for you to run 5 yards, stutter step and curl, then that’s what you should do. 4) Stay in the game mentally, off sides, motion, silly penalties… IMO, there’s nothing wrong with a little trash talking sometimes, it can be fun. But when you trash talk too much, it distracts you from what you should be doing. This has nothing to do with whether or not these are good or bad kids. It has to do with work ethic instilled in the players by parents, teachers and coaches. Try to cultivate the young man’s desire to be the best that he can be, in any circumstance! All of these are things that have to be drilled into the players by their coaches. I know this is not possible every minute or every play of the game. But, the more it’s stressed, chances are, the more it happens. This is my humble opinion…….I would love for Camden to meet Lovejoy in a game with both teams being at their best! Go Camden County Wildcats!

@ Camden74 == I’m not quite sure you are talking about Lovejoy. Do not let what you have heard influence your thoughts of the Cats. The game at Colquit was just as sure as the current situation there right now with “Spy Gate”, I sat there and watched the game and must have gone to sleep because I did not witness all the calls that were made. I was forewarned of such activities but the game has to be played. Lovejoy beat Colquit everywhere but the scoreboard. No thanks to a few questionable calls. Lovejoy is a solid football team in all three phases of the game. I can tell from the choice of words that you have not seen us play. The words you use does not at all describe Lovejoy. Your sources are not credible. Be patient and it will become clear when the 2nd. seaseon arrives.

sportsnut……You could very well be right, I could be wrong in my opinion of Lovejoy. But it would not be because I haven’t seen them play. I saw them in the Colquitt game and IMO, they lost the game because of key plays where they depended too much on their athletic ability by trying to throw long passes when short passes would have been more appropriate. QB running, when looking down field for a receiver would have been the better decision. I witnessed a Lovejoy player celebrate after a sack and cost team 15 yards, giving Colquitt a first down during a crucial part of the game, among other areas that cost them. Mistakes like that in close games are usually game changers. I’m looking forward to seeing them play again the first opportunity I have. If my opinion is incorrect, I will certainly retract everything I’ve said……..

Next year and the year afterwards might be a “whole nuther story”! We’ve got great kids who like each other and who enjoy trying to be the best they can be. There are no superstars on our team. But we have a lot of team speed. Our kids played lights out at Colquitt last week, and we really shut down their vaulted offense. Colquitt had only 8 yards rushing for the game, and a game total cir.150 yards offense. One of Colquitt’s two scores came on a blocked field goal that was caused by a bad shap from our center. But that’s football. Hope to see you guys again come playoff time!I enjoyed meeting both of you last year at your stadium.
Camden 74 — When y’all go to Colquitt, take binoculars I heard Walmart and every sports store in Tifton have sold out of them this week, and that the Blue Devil TD Club is selling some for $10 (apparently small toy binocs). Rumor is they have sold hundreds! Colquitt travels to Tift this week and the Tift fans are gearing up for the R. Propst show. Trouble is, he has a very good team, with a whole bunch of huge athletes. If ole Propst would just concentrate on coaching he might develope a world beater team. I promise you he will give your Camden Blue Cats all you want when y’all go to Moultrie.
Sportsnut – Keep talking up your team.. I remember a whipping they put on us in 2002 that we’ll never forget. And mannnn, was it cold that night. I dang near froze before it was mercifully over!!!!

AVikingFan……I’m thinking Propst might try and run up the score against Tiff if they pull the binocular stunt. I’m expecting a knock down drag out fight when Camden goes to Colquitt. My only real concern is Propst’s influence over the officials. He seems to be able to intimidate them, how, I’m not sure. But he definitely has a way of getting them rattled. I know Camden will move the ball on them, so that’s not an issue. It’s a matter of how well the defense plays…….I hope both Camden and Lowndes are undefeated when they meet, that would surely be a battle!

@ Colquit Fan == All the refs do not come from the same place. There are many official organizations in Georgia and the GHSA utilizes all of them. What has been said is true, the coach has his way with the officials. You know, those things that you guys call undisciplined will not be called penalties in the metro area. They are a part of football. The enthusiasm with which the kids play should not be penalized. When you watch the next game on TV, notice what is called and what is not. I am sure you will see that what was called in Moultrie on Lovejoy is simply part of the game.Check out the Thursday night or friday night game and you will see kids getting excited about making a play. No penalty will be called unless the player goes overboard with his celebration. If what was called on Lovejoy was considered unsportsmanlike, there would a flag on every good play, because all teams do it. Throw your hands up, jump up and down, yell out, fist pump, run away from the tackle, congratulate the team-mate for making the tackle and on and on and on. This is football and there are certain things that come with the game and being excited and celebrating are very much a part of the game.

Camden75 — I agree with every point in your above post (most of your posts really). Both of us being undefeated would be fun. Maybe we ought to close school that day so the fans can tailgate all day long! Just kidding folks, don’t mean to rile up the educator people!
But there’’s a whole lot of football to be played between now and when Lowndes will host Camden in the last regular season game.Lowndes has to travel cross town to Blazer Field a week from this Friday. That will be a knock down, sock’em in the mouth war! Nearly always is, or has been the last decade or so.

Colquitt supporter, you realize that buzz Payne himself was escorted out of our stadium moments before we scored out offensive TD in the 4th quarter. And why is buzz hiding from the media, woulnt you wanna clear tour name? Can’t believe the wrong info spewed on this blog. It’s also pretty much confirmed that Payne was in the car with singetary and Shaver. Our program is as good as it has ever been and we are complaining. How much would y’all be complaining if the were the regions doormat again?

And if by antics you mean takin up for his team then he’s guilty. What is one thing he has done wrong while a Colquitt? Some clowns just aren’t happy if you’re complaining. Why do you care what other teams think of us? Who cares? I respect Lowndes a lot, but I could care less if they like us or not. They’re happy as long as we’re not a threat to them

Be careful Colquitt Fan that you don’t repeat a lie. I was sitting near where Buzz Payne was standing, and he left the stands on his on accord minutes before the game was over. I think everybody on these blogs ARE READY FOR YOU TO GET OVER IT AND MOVE ON.

I’ll believe people I know over some guy who i don’t even know was at the game. An there’s enough evidence for an investigation to be conducted so quit acting so innocent. You and I don’t know the whole story so lets just wait and see whats revealed. That fair? And quit acting like I’m the only one talking about it. In the new blog somebody brought it up w the first comment

In case you haven’t seen. The investigation has begun. They don’t do it unless there’s something there. Not saying anything will happen but it could

Sorry to keep posting but kinda curious how you even know who he is. I mean to be able to pick him out of the stands and all. A guy that has never been affiliated with your program. Just curious. I played baseball for him for two years, I certainly know what kind of person he is

That should tell y’all that the guy will stoop to any means to get back at Propst. He asked to be in Grayson’s press box. How can you guys deny this? Even conn admitted to using him. I would be starting to get a little nervous if I was yall
