PLAY OF THE GAME: Burke County’s Jermaine Baxley intercepted a Cross Creek pass and returned it for a long touchdown in the first quarter.
STAR OF THE GAME: The Bears’ quarterback, Donquell Green, had five touchdowns.
WHY BURKE COUNTY WON: The offense was dominant and the defense forced turnover after turnover.

I followed region 1AA for years and I believe region 1/’6A are similar ………..even the 4 team in the region will be stronger than most 1st place teams in other regions……so …..dont count out any region 1/6A team in the playoffs……..

Speaking of Deshaun Watson of Gainesville, it’s fairly certain that he will graduate as Georgia’s all-time leading passer/career. He’s just a junior. The record is about 9,200. Watson entered this game w/ 6,494. He’s got 1.5 seasons to make it.

Upset alert — Westminster 10, Thomson 0. Thomson is #2 in Class AAA. Thomson trailed 21-0 last week and beat LaGrange 49-42. Also trailed Burke County 14-0 this year and won 21-14. Apparently the game doesn’t begin in Thomson until the second quarter.

I’m a big fan of JJ and players of his ilk. Lot of people ask how he stays in GHSF Daily’s Player of the Year Watch his stats through 4 games are below modest. But he makes a ton of big plays. I remember when Greg Reid played at Lowndes. I remember a conversation I had w/ Coach Herron about Reid. He said stats could never tell the story w/ a halfback/cornerback in Lowndes offense, the Wing T. You’re not going to get 25 carries, but you have to account for a player like Reid on every play on offense. On defense, corners don’t have a lot of tackle opportunities. But you’d better not mess with him (ie, throw his way). That’s J.J. Green.

Region 1 6A is the SEC of GA HS football. Camden is Alabama (should dominate), Lowndes is UGA (beat up on a bunch of scrubs), Colquitt Co. is LSU (probably overrated this year), and Valdosta is Arkansas lol

@camden74 @camcat07 @cchs86 our pass defense has never been that great considering the teams we traditionally play arent that great at passing so we never really had to “teach it” and always hoped for the best come playoff time (seriously backfired last year against colquitt). it always good to have hope in your team but gee-wizz ; i dont see why we are playing 5-8 yards off the recievers when they run screens all day; i guess the philosophy is let them drive down the field, and lock down in the redzone on them

Sounds good to me. … But the Corky Kell is run privately by a group that seeks to make money. Not that there’s anything wrong w/ that. But my point is that it’s not about the most compelling matchups, but the matchups that will draw the biggest crowds. Most middle and south Georgia teams aren’t going to bring the same crowds to Atlanta for a regular-season game that a more local top program would do.

Left the Broncos/Parkview game when the score was 21-7 Parkview, with Parkview driving. For the first time in many moons, Parkview could simply run over, around, and through Brookwood. Both sides had big plays called back by penalty, so that’s a wash. Brookwood simple doesn’t have the players on defense. Didn’t take care of the ball on offense. Congratulations Panthers. However, if you believe a 100% running team can win come playoff time? No way. Parkview won’t go far, is my bet.

As I said before, both Valdosta and Colquitt Co. have been vastly overrated this year. Tried to tell TH even before the season started. Of course he’s bullheaded and stubborn. Can’t tell the experts anything! Watching Yulee FL and Glades FL now on ESPN. Derrick Henry has committed to AL and has 5TDs and over 300 yds. tonight. I wish I could have seen that Colquitt/Lowdnes game. It must have been a good game to watch judging by the score. I would say that Lowdnes, Colquitt, and Camden have some of the top defenses in the state, I am glad to see that Camden won. Just taking of business. What about the other teams in the region, not much talk about them. Anyway, Its gonna be a clash of the titans for that Lowdnes/Camden game, cant wait for that game. Go Camden!

Raiders looked very sloppy in the first half, bad blocking, bad throwing and just a lot of mistakes. Second half looked much better but still needed work. But still another E.P. win and 4th consecutive shutout on the season. Raiders 214/17 over their opponents after 5 games. I hear that Allatoona barely got by South Paulding. Bye week next week and then we travel to Hiram to see if they can be the competition we need to face for E.P.’s first real test of the season. GO RAIDERS!!!!!

NO EXCUSES HERE!! WE GOT BEAT TONIGHT I MUST SAY.We hung in the fight but it really was a one sided fight the whole game.I love my Pack and would go down swinging with them on any day but the truth is the truth and despite the score it was a one sided fight.Our defense didn’t quit but they sure will sleep well tonight cause they should be tired after being on the field bout the entire game. Man we have to get some drives going and some first downs.

Grayson was up 38-0 in the second quarter and pulled offensive and defensive starters. Running clock to start the 2nd half. Shiloh scored on passing in the 3rd and 4th quarter especially. They have a really tall wide receiver and the QB was lobbing them up in the air. The Grayson defender needed a step ladder to stay up there with the Shiloh receiver! Interesting roughing the kicker call on Grayson. Shiloh kicker muffed the snap (or it was a bad snap – could tell for sure where I was), ball on the ground, kicker recovers it, scrambles to the side and forward and gets the kick off. Grayson get called for roughing the kicker when we hit him trying to tackle him. I thought once the kicker started scrambling and trying to advance the ball he was fair game. Oh well, it doesn’t matter in the scheme of things.

WILDHAWG2012….We still have alot of work to do. We have to get better each and every game. Don’t know what Coach McPherson is going to do with this two QB system he has going on right now. I still wouldn’t want to play you guys in the playoffs. That’s when ya’ll shine!! I believe ya’ll will get right, just not tonight though. We had to come out and make a statement!! And besides, ya’ll blew us out last year so this was a statement game for Lowndes!! Coach Mac had posters with “34-7″ plastered everywhere to remind the players what happened last year. And it also didn’t help when your Coach blasted Lowndes in your local newspaper either!! The players didn’t like that at all. All in all, good game, I’m sure you guys bounce back and you’ll be their in the playoffs representing Region 1!!

We got beat absolutley. But when he gets a cover shot on a local publication as the saviour of the program and as D! prospect………then I exspect him to live up to it…..he was the one flexing his muscles on the magazine cover…….flex them on the field……..if he is a D1 prospect then he should repond to his critics

5 time, can you blame Propst for not liking Lowndes? McPherson went crying to state officials for bringing in players while GHSA laughed at him. Then he’s playing two QBs this year, both from other schools. How can that be explained? Valdosta has colquitts old QB and Camden is playing the Vonashek kid. But yet Propst is the one taking the heat? Seems fair

Where do you get your info from??? Lowndes only has 1 QB to transfer in , Alex Stephenson. He started out at Ware. Than transfered to Valdosta. He lost his starting spot at Valdosta to Wilkes so he transferred over to Lowndes basically as a last resort….

Lowndes has two starting qb’s ……Carlo (homegrown) and Stevenson the transfer and I listened to coach propst’s pre game and post game interview…..he made this statement “Stevenson got his first start against hardaway “……well if he would’ve watched film he would’ve known that Stevenson started every game …..

I don’t care where he’s played. I don’t see anything wrong with it. If youre gonna compete in the state, you have to do what everybody else is doing. Lowndes played a good game tonight. Colquitt, Lowndes, Camden, and Grayson are still the teams to beat on the state and it will be a very interesting playoff bracket.

Yes he is at his 3rd school. I dont know how he ended up at Valdosta but I do know he got to Lowndes. He simply lost his starting spot and needed a place to play. So he just went down the road to Lowndes. No coaches involved in bringing him over. Im not going to get into he said she said eith transfers going to Colquitt. It is old news. Everyone is over it now. So lets leave it that way.

Overall, Camden played a good game tonight, but there’s MUCH room for improvement, especially on defense. Valdosta had a number of opportunities, but failed to take advantage of their good fortune!

No doubt y’all handled us bk. Lowndes offensive coordinator is horrendous though. Why throw the ball any last night? Y’all’s offense didn’t look good either. Y’all ran on us on two drives basically. I applaud our defense for the game they played with how much they were on the field. We can be as good if we can figure out our OL problems. Lowndes is just greatly improved on defense this year. Y’all killed us at the line of scrimmage last night. FYI that’s our 4th blocked FG or extra point this year, they do happen. Y’all made an special teams play as well. Regardless of total yards, which wasn’t too bad considering TOP, we were in position to take a lead or tie at the end, and y’all stepped up. Camden is gonna blow the doors off anyone they play. They should win state this year. Great game though, y’all beat us. But neither of those teams will go far playing like that.

As an outsider to the region 1 6A and having seen the Big 4 play I would have to agree with Camden then the rest, although I was impressed with Lowndes and their speed on both sides of the ball. I think BK hit on that an IMO that was the key to that game. The beauty of HS football is that you get to prove it on the field and at the end of the day if your team is that good you will have the opportunity to play the best and settle it on the field. .

@bksmith=Ok yall beat us at the line of scrimage and your D looked great but don’t start talkin too much because you didn;t even believe you guys would win.I mean u was pretty quiet this week and all you talked about was how Lowndes was not the same team as in the past and how it is hard to win in the hogpen.And even tho your D shut us down that 230 yards rushing was your total yards for tonight as well.Despite the poor play you guys still only scored only one offensive touchdown too.Yes you guys did leave points on the field and should have scored more,but the suspect play calling kept us in the game.It is along season and we do have some work to do but when your OL gets owned all night it is hard to really see what your offense can do.Great game plan on the defensive side.but we will be alright and learn from this and move on. Lowndes will contend but i am not surprised congrats tho

I know Valdosta has a historic program and alot of pride but they really should play in the division their enrollment qualifies for. They are not a 6A playoff team. No one should be surprised by the outcome of the Camden game.
As for Grayson and it looks like they will enter the playoffs as a #2 or possibly even #3 if they lose to Brookwood. Colquitt and Grayson both coming into the playoffs in the bottom of their brackett would be interesting.

grayram……..You’re funny! Seems that every time Camden wins a game, it’s because there’s something WRONG with the opponent, not the Camden Team being a quality squad. But, I guess that’s why they play the game. As for VHS, IMO, they’re a good team. Once they iron out the miscues, they will upset some folks. Camden is among the best every year not only in Georgia but a team that
could compete with anyone.
As for Valdosta, I do respect thier history and sure they certainly deserve to play in

6A has nothing to do with quality levels like AA baseball does in the MLB. The only thing it means is the amount if the student population. Just because a school may have 3500 students does not mean the eleven on the football field are better than other schools. I think a great idea is to have a Korky Kell type of tournament at the end of the year and let the champions from each level duke it out for an overall champ. Who knows a single A school might beat everybody.
