Region 1-AAAAAA teams have waited for years for a regular shot at Camden County, which dominated over the past decade in a weak Savannah-area region. Now they get their chance as Camden has moved to Region 1. Valdosta gets the first opportunity, at home on Friday. But be careful what you wish for. Look for Camden to have a successful debut in the region, and expect Lowndes to beat Colquitt County in the region’s other big game. And I’m going with Parkview in the Battle of Five Forks Trickum.
Congratulations go out to Ted Johnson of Broxton, who was last week’s winner in the High School Football Pickoff contest. Broxton was one of three contestants to correctly pick the winner in 14 of 15 games and won the tiebreaker for the closest guess of the score in the Cartersville-North Murray game. THE "CANNON RULES"!!

12:06 pm
VILLA RICA in “THE BONEYARD” this week…time for the UNDEFEATED RAIDERS to “SKIN” some wildcats!!!
LOOK for more “CANNON TIME” as the EAST offense again lights up the scoreboard! Can the “D” pitch another shutout? Hopefully we have a good game and the J.V. guys can get more time in the 2nd half.
PAULDING COUNTY travels to LITHIA SPRINGS & SOUTH PAULDING plays an away game at ALLATOONA…Look for long nights for both PAULDING COUNTY AND SOUTH PAULDING as both probably get a loss handed to them.
NORTH PAULDING travels to WOODLAND / BARTOW in what should be a good trip with the WOLFPACK from NORTH picking up another win in their march towards the first playoff game in school history!
HIRAM doesn’t play this week so they can get ready for LITHIA SPRINGS next week!

OK CHIP…I just found out that the LITHIA SPRINGS starting QB is out for several weeks, and since the LITHIA SPRINGS / PAULDING COUNTY game is AT PAULDING COUNTY and it is Homecoming I am changing my earlier prediction…this may be the week for PAULDING COUNTY to finally get a win!!!
Call it the UPSET SPECIAL!…LOL!

OK, Chip, I’ll take Colquitt winning at home, and Brookwood winning over Parkview. Don’t think the Panthers have the offense to win.

My picks for 5AAAAA…East of course, North, Paulding for their first win and I think there will be an upset at Allatoona(just a feeling). O.K. “toona” fans go ahead and let me have it. Also Rome over New Manchester unless their coach thinks they can “shock the state” again.

Not sure home field advantage will mean anything against Lowndes. I know their schedule has been weaker than ours to date but they have still blown out their opponents by about 45 points each (compared to 10 points for Colquitt). All things considered, we may be even. I think it boils down to who wants it the most. Safe travels to all especially in the Morven/Berlin speed traps.

Colquitt has played all ranked teams and Lowndes has played all jv teams. Those scores mean very little. Comes down to one thing, can colquitt stop the run. If they do, it’ll be just like last year

GwinnettDad……I’ll be listening on webcast or watching, if I can find a link. Probably won’t make a game before playoffs. Hopefully the trip won’t be so bad. My concern is the fact that AJC picked Camden to win!
Does anyone know if there’s a link for the Camden/Valdosta game?

Colquitt played 2 6A schools and was 1-1. Lovejoy just moved up from 4 A and TCC moved up from 4 A to 5 A and Carver is a 3

Colquitt fan, you speak as though Colquitt has played all powerhouse programs, Lovejoy is a good team, but they just moved up to 6A from 4 A, Thomas County Central moved up from 4A to 5A and Carver is a 3 A school and your loss was to the only program that was in 5A last year. Your only blowout was to a 3A school. The other games were close from what I see. Ranked or not, with the excpetion of North Gwinnett, those ranked schools were in their respective divisions, based on their 2011 seasons. So before you guy’s keep harping on the we have played a tougher schedule tah anyone else, look at who you have played. I do believe that Lowndes and a few other teams would have fared just as well. The next 6 weeks will reveal the contenders and the pretenders in region 1. Would not call the schools Lowndes played JV. They were not at the level of Lowndes. We will see a lot of good football or a lot of blowouts in the next 6 weeks.

Lol you act like I’m the one saying colquitt has had the toughest schedule, this was according to ratings. What is the combined record of all the teams Lowndes has played? And stop w the teams moving up two classifications, didn’t basically everybody move up at least one. All I said was the scores didn’t matter. And I said we would only win if we stop the run, is that not true?

Colquitt fan…..1994 was a long time ago and 1999 wasn’t that the last region championship, Colquitt should win this game, but if lowndes somehow pulls out the W, hopefully propst won’t CUSS out our coaches like he did in thomasville in 2010 or throw away the players food like he did last year after the valdosta game…..

What does the past have to do with this game? It should be a great game no doubt. All sayin is that Lowndes is one dimensional and if we stop the run we should win. Luella, Newton, Windsor Forrest, and hardaway has a combined record of 2-12. What are we supposed to know about Lowndes by beating these teams. How is this not a true statement?

@highschoolfootballfan….look you can say whatever you want about the teaams the pack have played,,,whether they were powerhouses,,,ranked,,or lower classifications…the ???? is are the teams we’ve played ng,,tcc,lj..& carver,,,,lose another game this season? ( i doubt it) carver has peach co. at the end of the year,,,,in contrast,,,,,the teams lowndes have played,,, will they lose another game this year ( plenty) who knows if lowndes would of faired good against those teams or even won..so say what you want,,,but just bc we dont have blowout wins like yall do,,,doesnt mean on any given night we wont blow a team out…..whether you beat sb 60-0 or 3-0,,,,all we’re concerned about is getting a “W” yes lowndes have ran the score up on the past 4 teams,,,,,but imo you should of saved those 50+ points 4 tomorrow night,,,,,good luck 2 both teams & have a safe trip 2 moultrie

Lets get one thing straight!! Having a tough schedule doesn’t mean anything. Lowndes had the toughest schedule last year and look where that got us. It helps but you have to have the right team and talent to go along with the tough schedule to advance. I’m not buying all this Colquitt Co. has the toughest schedule crap. Ya’ll beat us last year because clearly ya’ll had the better team. Regardless of Lowndes having the toughest schedule in the state.

Lowndes can easily beat us tomorrow, I haven’t said they can’t. I said they haven’t played anybody, which is true. And they are one dimensional, which is true. Lowndes has had a great program the last 12 years or so. Moultrie has jus as good athletes and always had. We were only a competent coach away and now we have one. With the system rush runs, it tooka few years. We have a good program now and aren’t going away anytime soon. Not a knock on Lowndes, but other teams are catching up to them, and the Wing T offense is getting to be figured out. You have to throw the football now, even Camden has figured this out and Is mixing in some passing.

bksmith14….I think not!!….LOL..!!….They might get us this year, but after watching North Gwinnett and TCC put the running game to them, I believe we have a shot!! And our running game is more potent than both squads!! Coach Mac gonna throw about 11 different running backs at them with different abilities. They all bring something different to the table. TCC put up 33!! We smash TCC every year in pre-season!! If they can’t put a stop to our running game, it’s going to be a looooong night….

Region 1-AAAAAA rated the tops of the 6-A. I’m not going to dispute that. SEC of GA High School football? A stretch. A missing detail. SEC has won it 6 years in a row. The last two years the crown has come to Gwinnett. So, SEC of High school football? Close, maybe. But close counts only in horse shoes.

@highschoolfan=The Pack played N.Gwinnett who may not lose again until playoffs and Lovejoy will not lose again untill playoffs and Thomas Co will not lose again untill playoffs. All these teams are title contenders for sure and Carver of Columbus will not lose again until the game at Peach Co and last week Carver went to Atl and beat a 6a school!!! We’ve played these teams and won almost all of them with a banged up and young team with no identity!! Wow whats going to happen when we get an identity but i do think we are as healthy we’ve been all year so it is time to let Lowndes see our true identity. Will be a good game but for how long is the question!! And FYI next years team will be better than this one Wow!!!

@5-time=N.Gwinnett had a 70 something yard td because of a missed assignment by our 10th grade linebacker other than that they did nothing else and TCC did most of their running in the second half when our defensive capt. was injured and didn’t play the whole second half!! We had three 10th graders playing linebacker all on the field at the same time trying to stop that veer offense. Now you name me a team in our region that can put three tenth graders on the field for a half and shut down TCC!! Not knocking our young Packers but if u have never played against the veer it is one of the most difficult offenses to stop for a whole game and when u are some 10th graders playing in your second varsity game it really is not fair in a way but our young guns held own and our offense came thru when it had to but our young guns have 4 great games under their belts and are ready to go!!!

WILDHAWG2012, Really? Blame a loss on a 10th grader? Really? Blame the loss on injuries. Come on man!!!!!!!!!! So since the thinking is, every team Colquitt has played will not lose another game this year, does this also mean that Colquitt will win out? Friday is here and in some hours all of the talk will be put to test. Look for a fine night of football in 6 A. Someone will have the chance to take the lead in each region. Tonight starts the night to strap it on. Will Colquitt hold back the Vikings? Will Camden get it’s first region 1 victory, or will the Cats from Valdosta scratchout a victory. What seems to be the top 4 in region 1 faceoff the first week of region play is awesome. Forget the first 4 weeks, the next 6 weeks will be entertaining for everyone. Not just region 1 but region 8 as well. Grayson is 1 region game down, still have Brookwood, Parkview has Brookwood tonight. Some major games tonight.
