Class AAAA games to watch this week

Games to watch this week in Class AAAA

Stockbridge (3-1) at No. 2 Griffin (4-0): In a Region 4-AAAA crossover game, Stockbridge visits Griffin in search of a signature win, not only for it’s own sake, but for all of Henry County. Griffin is 28-0 all-time against Henry schools according to records pulled from Stockbridge will need to slow down Griffin QB Jaquez Parks and a Bears offense averaging 40 poins per game to put an end to that streak.

Chestatee (2-1, 1-0) at No. 5 Stephens County (4-0, 1-0): This could be the AAAA shootout of the week. Visiting Chestatee averages 39.7 points per game and is coming off a 57-56 double-overtime win against Eastside-Covington last week. Stephens County, behind running back Chaz Thornton and receiver Tomas Colbert, is averaging 45.5 points.

No. 10. Monroe Area (4-0) at Lanier (3-1, 1-0): This tilt serves as a litmus test for both teams. Lanier’s three wins are against opponents who are a combined 2-8. Monroe Area, behind explosive quarterback Stanton Truitt and running back Kwon Brooks, has scored 224 points in four games, but the Hurricanes’ four opponents are a combined 2-13.

Cass (3-1) at Dalton (2-1): In a 7-AAAA crossover game, Cass is looking to start 4-1 after going 0-10 last year. This could be a trap game for Dalton, which visits Ridgeland next week in its sub-region opener. The host Catamounts have allowed 95 points in three games, though 55 came in their lone loss to Class AA Calhoun.

Westside-Macon (3-1, 1-0) at West Laurens (3-1, 1-0): In a game that will provide some early separation in Region 2-AAAA, the high-scoring Seminoles (46 points per game) head to Dublin for their first road game. Awaiting them is a dangerous West Laurens team that has allowed 14 points in its last three games. The host Raiders are led by quarterback Gerald Carr, who rushed for 130 yards last week against Rutland. Westside counters with Noah Grayer, who passed for more than 300 against Veterans.
