Miller Grove 21, Arabia Mountain 20

Through nearly three quarters, Arabia Mountain was cruising to what looked like a blowout win.
But Miller Grove was just waking up.
Down by 20 with fewer than 2 minutes left in the third, the Wolverines stormed back in the fourth quarter to stun the Rams 21-20.
The comeback was aided by an Arabia Mountain offense that put up so many yards early but was suddenly plagued by turnovers at an inopportune time.
Two fourth-quarter turnovers led to 14 Miller Grove points, proving to be the difference in the game.
The second was the biggest, as Miller Grove’s Justin Swift grabbed a Michael Lockhart fumble and returned it to the Arabia Mountain 26.
That set up a 1-yard Ken Allen sneak that gave the Wolverines (3-1, 2-1 Region 6-AAAAA) their first lead of the night after the Kwame Simon extra point.
Everything seemed to change for the Miller Grove offense when it got the ball with 4:19 left in the third quarter, trailing 20-0.
It was then that the Wolverines began their first sustained drive of the night, going 75 yards in eight plays, capping it off with a 28-yard Chris Berry touchdown catch to finally get on the board.
Up to that point, the Miller Grove offense had been one dimensional and stagnant, but quarterback Allen was efficient and effective in the second half.
After going 1 for his first 8 for 15 yards through the air, Allen completed 6 of final 8 for 115 yards and two touchdowns, most of which came in the final 19 minutes of the game to lead the comeback.
It was a significant swing in a game that had been largely dominated by the Arabia Mountain offense up to that point.
The Rams (1-3, 0-3) had 237 total yards in the first half but could only muster 6 points. Quarterback Trevous Reynolds finished 22 of 40 for 229 yards, but he also had two interceptions and no touchdowns. Running back Michael Holloway had 138 total yards (91 rushing, 47 receiving) but didn’t touch the ball in the fourth quarter.
They had the ball with one final shot late and got as far as the Miller Grove 26-yard line with less than 4 minutes left, but a holding penalty pushed them back and they were stopped on downs.
