Here is this week’s schedule with projected margins of victory courtesy of the Maxwell Ratings. The projected winner is on the left. The projected margin of victory is on the right. The Maxwell computer ratings take into account historical scores, weighing the more recent seasons the most heavily. Games involving out-of-state teams are not included because of lack of data on those opponents.

But suprisingly the differentials arent that much off for what I would think would be the point spread for a lot of these games. ONe trend i noticed is some school with little statiscal data seem not to be rated highly. Best Acad is in its 1st yr of varsity ball, but McNair is given a large projection. Also Arabia Mtn which is in like its 3rd year doesnt seem to get a good rating from Maxwell, but think they are better. So I do see where statiscal history plays a lot into it and if u dont have much history, then you arent projected well.

@Dekalb County Guy: “ONe trend i noticed is some school with little statiscal data seem not to be rated highly.”
New teams are assumed to be weaker than established programs. Historically this has been true, although there can be exceptions. For teams with little or no past history, the preseason ratings are designed to fade out at a significantly higher rate than programs with longer histories.
