Americus-Sumter football coach Michael Pollock is expected to miss his second straight game Friday because of an incident at practice last week during which he kicked a player in the behind, according to WALB-TV in Albany.
Pollock was not on the sidelines for Americus-Sumter’s 34-18 victory over Macon County last week, the TV station and the Albany Herald have reported. Americus-Sumter plays Albany on Friday.
Pollock and Sumter County schools superintendent Donnie Smith would not comment on the coach’s status except to confirm that the Pollock did not coach last week and likely won’t again this week.
Offensive coordinator Chris Wade is the team’s interim coach.
“It’s a tough situation right now,” Wade told the Albany Herald. “We’re just trying to keep the focus on Albany. And that’s all I can really say.”

come on man…… Don’t know the coach or all the facts, but anybody on here knows that sometimes things happen that shouldn’t and again, don’t know the coach, but i do know boys, (young men), It is the times we live in… years ago things like this happened DAILY….
I look at it from the perspective of “now if it was my son” and if it was, MY son would have probably needed it….. again not knowing all the facts, maybe writing the above out of ignorance…
Not trying to take it lightly but a little kick in the pants, come on man…

Yea as I thought about what I posted, there maybe something a bit deeper, as far as with the coach. No coach or anyone in a position should do such a thing. It sounds like to me though he may need to find another line of work if it causes him to strike ANY body especially a kid.
I work with children and youth and they are just that, children.. and need to be treated as so… I didn’t mean to come off as if the young man deserved it, and when I read what I posted, that is what it sounded like…
Apologize to all that read my first post, an ignorant post….

1985 Coach kicked me in my butt in front of other players, and I got my feelings hurt. Coach built me up right back up . Won a state championship the next year. He is 73 years old, and I still call him to check on him to this day!
It really depends on if he was abusive. Maybe the kid got his feelings hurt, and cried to mom?
Do YOU kick your son? I’d kick him in the butt to motivate – Not out of anger!

I think back when I was playing and again it is a different world that we live in… I looked up to my coaches, all of them. Now there are some exceptions, I’m sure, but for the most part these coaches pour their lives out into their players, literally, don’t you all think? again don’t know the coach or the facts, and the coach was out of line by striking out.
Just a short story just how times have changed so much.. Our principal caught me riding in the middle of the road on my bicycle, and warned me that if he caught me again because of the danger that he was going to WHIP me, and guess what, there i was in the middle of the road again, and he was true to his word, he got out of his car and put it on me… So i went home and told my daddy, thinking “”my daddy will take up for me and whatever”".. WRONG, Sure shouldn’t have told my dad becuse I got it by him too. That is again how times have changed..

Now let talk fball, Ya’ll are lookin good, I knew with the coaching change ya’ll wou be getting better… And everyone over here and throughout r1 is bragging on camden, and don’t know why. I suppose they are somehow scared of camden. I posted a post that said that they may not even make it into the playoffs. and boy oh boy you should have heard some of them… This is how I see r1 this year,
a little bias about my vikes, so, this is how I see or region shaping up….
1st seed, Lowndes,
2nd seed, CC / Coffee
3rd seed Coffee/ CC
4th seed Camden ? Valdosta
I know sounds crazy right.. CC is a shell of what they had last year..
Camden will not be playing 10 games from r3 and will NOT go 10-0. may go 7-3
Coffee will go 7-3, or will beat Brunswick, Tifton, and it will be no surprise that ya’ll will beat Valdosta, like a drum, again a bit bias for my vikes and ya’ll come over here again this year and lose. I believe that ya’ll will take to CC had’made my mind up yet on ya’ll beating them but, ya’ll have a better than average chance to do so…. I will go out on a limb here, and say ya’ll will hand it to camden too…
So I hope ya’ll beat everyone but us of course….. and again I see ya’ll going to the playoffs, like last year, and watched the Coffee MLK game last year and ya’ll should have beat them,
I hope Coffe does go and win in playoffs and ya’ll have a good enough team to do so, and a coach that can carry ya;ll futher than the last few years, hope ya’ll luck in the rest of the year….

There are other considerations, such as race….everyone knows that is one of the main reasons they took corporal punishment out of school was because of desegregation and not wanting black teachers to hit white kids or vice versa. I played football at Monroe HS in 84 and we got way more than a butt kicking, we actually got paddled (by white and black coaches) …..but times have changed and if you can’t change with them, then you do not need to be coaching.

I played for Milt Miller at Lowndes in the mid 90’s. I love and respect the man as if he were my Dad. heck, he was tougher on me more than my Dad was. I appreciate him for that. He is a HUGE part of me being the man that I am today. I still only address him as “Coach”.
