Sophomore Eric Swinney rushed for a pair of touchdowns as No. 1-ranked Sandy Creek defeated East Coweta 31-7 in high school football on Thursday night.
Swinney broke open the game on the Sandy Creek’s first offensive play from the line of scrimmage after halftime, breaking loose for an 80-yard scoring run for a 21-0 advantage.
Ironically, Swinney also scored on the first play on the fourth quarter, this time on a two-yard run to make it 28-0 to put the game away.
Another sophomore sensation, Delvin Weems, scored Sandy Creek’s first touchdown on a 7-yard run in the first quarter. The Patriots went up 14-0 in the second quarter on a 17-yard pass from Cole Garvin to Demarre Kitt.
Sandy Creek, ranked No. 1 in Class AAAA, improved to 3-0, while East Coweta dropped to 1-2.
