Grayson picked up its second No. 1 national ranking this week when Rivals put the Rams on top.
Grayson is ranked in the top three of all eight national polls and is now No. 1 in the consensus poll compiled by CalPreps.com.
A key result last week was Miami Central’s 37-26 victory over Booker T. Washington of Miami. Washington was the consensus No. 4 team entering that game. Grayson defeated Miami Central 35-3 on Aug. 31.
This week, Miami Central plays Manatee of Bradenton, Fla., the No. 1-ranked team in five of the eight polls. If Manatee loses, or perhaps even struggles, look for Grayson to take the No. 1 ranking in the majority of polls next week – if Grayson can handle its own business, which is a game at Parkview.

I’ve said it before, but I live in Florida (after living in Georgia for 40 years) and those Miami teams have great athletes (sending many players to college, which is why they get ranked highly), but the coaching and discipline are sadly lacking. Those teams should never be ranked anywhere. Manatee is well-coached but doesn’t have as many athletes, so it could be close. It’s hard to say for sure, but my gut feeling is that Georgia high school football is substantially better than in Florida. Florida has more athletes (and, thus, Div. I prospects) because its population is larger, but the coaching and community involvement in Georgia makes all the difference.

I also think Georgia has a better state organization, the GHSA.

Only a 4-AAAA school, Sandy Creek Patriots would beat Grayson. No respect!

The Gwinnett Football League operation is second to none, nationally speaking…
There are many ex-NFL’ers that I have spoken to that have said that, so I have to take their word for it, as they are from all over the country & have settled here.
