No. 1-ranked Sandy Creek on Thursday TV

Over the last five seasons, Sandy Creek has compiled a blistering 54-3 record, along with a pair of state championships.

On Thursday, Sandy Creek (2-0) will play the only team it has lost against in the regular season since 2007, East Coweta (1-1).

It will start at 7:30 p.m. at Sandy Creek.

It will be televised live on WSB-TV/Me-TV 2.2, which can be found on the following cable systems by channel number: Comcast 248 (Metro Atlanta, Calhoun, Rome), Charter 126 (Metro Atlanta, Athens), Windstream 871 (Dahlonega, Hiawassee, Cornelia, Commerce), ETC 190 (Ellijay, Cherokee, Pickens, Gilmer, Fannin), Plantation 601 (Green, Putnam) and Knology 168 (West Point). The re-broadcast will be shown at 1 a.m. Friday night on WSB-TV on Ch. 2.

You can also watch at online live broadcast of the game at

In the 2008 season opener, East Coweta edged Sandy Creek 28-27. It was a wake-up call for the Patriots, which proceeded to reel off 14 wins in a row, including the Class AAAA state championship.

“East Coweta is a program with a strong history and tradition,” Sandy Creek coach Chip Walker said. “The other thing, we’re getting to play a larger classification team, which will be good for us. They were our last regular-season loss, back in the beginning of 2009, and we certainly don’t want to repeat anything like that on Thursday.”

Sandy Creek, ranked No. 1 in Class AAAA, presents a big challenge for East Coweta, especially off the heels of its 27-6 loss to Archer last week. “We’ve got our hands full,” East Coweta coach Clint Wade said.

Sandy Creek handled East Coweta’s rival Newnan last Friday a lot easier than I thought they would. I figured Sandy Creek would win but not as easy as they did. I expect Sandy Creek to win fairly easy tonight against the Indians. I saw that East Coweta lost 32 seniors off last years team. Unfortunately for E.C. Keith Brooking isn’t suiting up tonight on D. Brooking was a beast back in the day for E.C. Brooking is one of my all time favorite players.

Man it would be nice if EC could recruit as well as SC. SC has been recruiting for years and the Fayette School System continues to keep their heads in the sand on the situation. Great that his dad still holds sway over there.

Winning Programs = Recruiting
It is the same story every week. If a team is traditionally ranked near the top of its classification, it obviously recruits. Cause there is no way that a school could possibly have a coaching staff that demands dicipline and out works the majority of the state. There is also no possible way that students would want to change schools because they think that playing for another school would give them a better opportunity to play in college.
Winning Recruits. Try it.

well i can tell you from experience that they recruit. i am from fairburn and they did everything they could to recruit me and sway me into that cess-pool of fayette county white trash edumacation! no thanks i am very proud of my woodward academy degree. besides the deal for me to go and play there was much sweeter anyway.

Recruit you?!?! haha. I bet no coach in the cess-pool of fayette county knows your name! I cannot fault you for the education at Woodward, but I would go there if I couldn’t play anywhere else either. Unless you are a Volleyball player, Woodward doesn’t factor in much else these days!

They say if you ain’t cheatin’, you ain’t trying….State has allowed it for so long, it has become ingrained in all classifications, in all sports…Should be that the state investigates all these high profile move ins…See lately where we have some fall guys, but that is just the tip of the iceberg…GHSA, If you don’t have investigators, hire some, and cut this recruiting out….Some of these dudes profiling as great coaches are just assembling All-Star teams and building great resumes….they would be .500 coaches at most schools….

@ mad-catfish….

HAHAAAAAAAAAH…. You are straight up lying. Nobody that lives in fairburn could afford to attend Woodward. Maybe just maybe your parents could of afforded Landmark Christian. I doubt it. You probably went to Crackside I mean Creekside though. Calling Fayette Co. a cess pool when you live in South Fulton Co? That’s the FUNNIEST thing I’ve read in a while. You do realize that the school system in Fayette Co that you call ”white trash” is also one of the best in the state right? I also don’t get how it’s white trash when two of the five high schools (Sandy Creek and Fayette Co High) are both predominantly black. I promise you the 2 Peachtree City schools are far from WT. That just leaves Whitewater. It’s not WT either. Nice try though.

@Huh…Guess what? Great players and resume’s doesn’t get you championships. Ask the LA Lakers when they tried to get all allstars. Didn’t work, did it? Your thoery doesn’t hold true. You need good coaching, good families and a community to build a program. Go back to the drawing board. We can’t help it if people love or program, our good schools and good living. Build your community and stop trying to tear theirs down. Get a life and a clue!!
