Ex-Milton basketball coach David Boyd responds to allegations

David Boyd, who resigned as Milton High School’s basketball coach on Monday after allegations of recruiting, gave the AJC a statement on Wednesday:

“I never contacted a player or parent first. I always just responded to a parent wanting more information about the school and the program. I told them all the same thing: You have to make a legitimate move, you have to be on track academically, and there are no guarantees or promises. People want to be a part of a successful program. They see where our players are going to college. You know, schools like Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Georgia, Auburn, Ohio State and Emory. And they want to be a part of that. I got a phone call, email or text message almost every day from people all over the country  who were interested in our program. If anyone thinks I have the time and energy to go out and look there people up or scout them, that’s ridiculous. And that’s all I have to say.”
