Collins Hill 24, Dacula 22: Mitchell Blanchard booted a game-winning 50-yard field goal as time expired, allowing host Collins Hill to survive a furious fourth-quarter rally by the Falcons and pick up its first win of 2012. Dacula trailed 21-0 after three quarters, but Marcus Cox (20 carries, 221 yards, two touchdowns) helped the visitors surge ahead before Blanchard’s final heroics.
Colquitt County 14, Lovejoy 7: Colquitt County broke a scoreless tie in the third quarter with a 53-yard touchdown run from Javonta Woods, then added a 14-yard scoring pass from Cole Segraves to Nate Madison. Visiting Lovejoy scored early in the fourth on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Alejandro Bennefield.
Etowah 34 Centennial 0: The visiting Eagles opened the scoring on an 11-yard run in the first quarter by Stanlee Logue. They came back and put up seven more when Maveric Rechsteiner took an interception 72 yards for the score. Etowah’s third score was on a 21-yard pass from Reeves Johnson to Bryce Coroi to give the Eagles a comfortable 21-0 halftime lead. The Eagles went up 34-0 on an 11-yard run in the fourth by Raishod Devezin.
Langston Hughes 27, Luella 7: Defense was the story for the visiting Panthers as they forced six turnovers, including a blocked punt, to beat the host Lions 27-7. Eric Teek returned an interception for a touchdown for the Panthers, who improved their record to 2-0 with the victory while Luella fell to 0-2 on the season.
Lassiter 49, Sprayberry 10: The visiting Trojans exploded for 42-3 halftime lead, then cruised to victory over east Cobb-neighbor Sprayberry. Quarterback Eddie Printz was 14-of-22 for 277 yards and four touchdowns. Wide receiver Ryan Jenkins had two catches for 95 yards and two scores. Lassiter’s Juwan Dickey had seven receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown.
Lowndes 31, Newton 0: The host Vikings jumped on the visiting Rams early and often as they cruised to a 31-0 shutout victory to earn their second victory while keeping Newton winless. Ahman Brown and Nicholas Burgman each scored two rushing touchdowns to lead the Vikings in the rout.
Morrow 12, Forest Park 6: Xavier Essex scored the go-ahead touchdown with just over one minute to play as the host Mustangs snapped an 11-game losing streak by beating the visiting Panthers 12-6. Courtney Heard tallied more than 200 yards of total offense, while Sterling Taylor caught a touchdown pass to add to another 100-yard receiving game.
North Forsyth 35, Dawson County 28: The visiting Raiders were able to come from behind on Dawson County to pull out a close victory. The Tigers took advantage of a pair of kickoff returns for touchdowns, but in the end the Raiders closed out the game by scoring three touchdowns in the final four minutes to get the win.
Shiloh 16, Redan 7: The Generals turned over the ball four times and had an extra point blocked, but managed to hang on for a victory over visiting Redan. Shiloh’s offensive highlights were a 46-yard touchdown pass from Devante James to Cameron Stewart and a 1-yard plunge by tailback Deshon Taylor.
South Cobb 35, Douglas County 19: South Cobb jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead and cruised past Douglas County for its second win in as many games this season. Chauncey Ingram rushed 19 times for 177 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The visiting Eagles also got 177 passing yards and two scores through the air courtesy of quarterback Stephon Masha.
South Gwinnett 37, Duluth 21: Josh Boyd rushed for touchdowns from five and eight yards out to lead visiting South Gwinnett to its first win of the season. The Comets also got rushing touchdowns from Bernard Morrison and Travon Davis. In addition to a safety from the defense, South Gwinnett also scored on a 68-yard pass from Jordan Rainey to L.J. Gainey.
Wheeler 33 Pope 0: The visiting Greyhounds were dominated from start to finish on both sides of the football. Wildcat field goals of 62 and 51 yards and two Elijah Staley touchdown throws put the halftime lead at 19-0. A defensive fumble return on a Greyhound missnap and then a 64-yard touchdown run by Kahlem Looney pushed it out of reach.

Best (worst) home cooking I have ever seen or been a part of. Despite the score, a 14-7 victory for Colquit, this whole adventure was shocking. I am a 53 year old man and I thought I was back in 1965. Thats another story. Two missed field goals by us and a TD pass called back on top of 7 flags from the side judge on the home side of the field, was simply too much for us to overcome. I was told on this thread to be ware of this last week. I had no idea it would be this bad. Custis had over 100 yards in the 1st half but every time we got close to the end zone, the flags flew. Benefield was good again, throwing all over the shorter DB’s of the Packers. Anytime we made plays, the officials played with their little yellow toys. The coach(Propst) lost his cool and went ballistic and caused a delay in the game that the stripes decided was no problem. This was bad, very, very bad. Colquit wins 14-7, period.

@sportsnut – Everyone complains about the officials when the calls don’t got your way. The video stream I was watching wasn’t the best in the world but it showed your boys lose their discipline down the stretch and make some bad mistakes. The excessive celebration call was dead on when your guy was prancing around after the big sack in the 4th. That cost you good field position. Again, the video stream wasn’t great camera work but it did show as least some issues on your side. I agree about Rush’s tirade. I would have thrown a flag and made him out of the game if he continued. IT is one thing to support your players and get upset and show it and strongly question the officials (
) but something else to carry on and on and on and on…..

@ Packerfan 78 == How does a wideout get called for ineligible man down field ? How does a coach come onto the field ranting and raving and holds up the game and no penalty is called after a four(4) minute delay. How does a team line up to run a play, the coach changes his mind on what he wants to do and sends in the punt team and there is no substitution infraction ? How does a Colquit player pick up a Lovejoy player and slams him to the ground and no penalty is called but when our DE runs through Seagraves and plants him and gets up with excitement as he walks away and gets a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct? How does a team get a 30 yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct on one player because two officials throw a flag on the same call ? If that is not home cooking, I don’t know what is.

@ Fred == There was no loss of composure on our kids part. They were cool under pressure, as far as the refs were concerned. You will never find that or see that from this team. The one instant where our corner, #3, was called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Never before have I seen such a thing. @ FridayNightLightsFan == All losses are not home cooking. This was as bad as there ever was. Now I understand why someone felt need to inform me of this before we got there. There was no penalty called on that sack in the 4th quarter. Sometimes you just have to call it what it is. We lost and that is the bottom line as far as we are concerned. No matter how it happened.

@ MADDBALL == Were you there ? I don’t think so. I say this because you don’t know what you are talking about. If you looked at our schedule, you would not find Peach County on it. Peach is a AAA school. It was a good game until the officials decided to get involved. The side judge on the home side had Propst in his ear the entire second half. Colquit has a good team so they should not need any help but on last night, they certainly got it.

@ WILDHAWG == That was just a hard hit. What do you think of the hit that Custis got early when he was lifted of his feet and slammed to the turf? Was that not an illegal hit ? You are not allowed to lift a player off his feet and slam him in any level of football, high school, college or pro’s.

@sportsnut – Your kid made a tackle in the backfield, got up and started high stepping and slinging his arms around while circling away from the line of scrimmage 5 yards or so towards the goal line before heading back towards the line. He was clearly celebrating in a manner that was showboating by himself, not with his team members. If that is not a loss of discipline that was costly to your team, then maybe your coaching staff needs to reexamine their coaching methodologies regarding after play celebrating. Admit it or not, your choice, but your kids started making silly mistakes when the pressure was on in the 4th. It really is a shame because until then, they had looked very good.
I agree that Rush’s behavior was bad on that out of bounds calls. He is famous for talking to the officials until he gets calls his way. I personally don’t like it but until he gets called on it, he will continue.

@ Fred == What happened was a swing in momentum and on cue , the refs stepped in. All was O.K. when Colquit was up 14-0. When we scored early in the 4th quarter, that is when the flags started to fly. The official on the side line in front of Colquits bench made 6 or 7 calls against us, including the strangest call of ineligible man down field. How can a wideout be ineligible split out wide ?

Gotta back up sportsnut on this one. Ive been to 2 games since I have been stationed at Moody. This one and Madison Co. last year. Both games all the calls were made in favor of Colquit Co. Three seperate times The packers celebrated sacks or hard hits the exact same way no flags. And the hit on #19, its football man, just a good hard hit. Probsts should have been flagged for a delay of game and unsportsman like conduct. I would have ejected him.

No mention of Lambert and their stunning win over Roswell?! This was the best game of the night! Lambert, down 17-16 on their own 20 with only 20 seconds left, ran the hook and ladder and took it for 60 yards. Then they kicked a field goal to win the game, shocking the Roswell crowd that had travelled to The Horn to see if their Hornets were for real after their 42-13 win over Centennial last week.

sportsnut…….Remember what I said about the CROW? Anywho, I understand your frustration, but there were questionable calls on both sides. Lovejoy has a very talented team, but they suffer the same problem that most athletic teams suffer. They depend too much on their athleticism! There are times when discipline and technique will trump the best athletic ability. Last night, Lovejoy lost it’s discipline and it cost them the game. There were times when short passes for first downs should have been the call, but instead, Lovejoy’s coaches/QB tried to go deep, depending on their taller wide receivers to use their athletic ability to out jump the shorter Colquitt DBs. Lovejoy should use this game as a learning experience, the season is still young.

Looking at the opponents 2-AAAAAA Lovejoy faces from here on in, they have a combined record of 4-13. The only team that has a victory over an AAAAAA school is 6-AAAAAA Alpharetta, who they face next Friday. 2-AAAAAA opponents for Lovejoy are 2-10, with no victories over any AAAAAA schools. The only other non-region opponent beyond 1-1 Alpharetta is 1-2 E. Coweta, that got clobbered by 8-AAAAAA Archer yesteray. So you can count on Sportsnut continuing the act it has shown us so far. @Camden74 – Camden has lots to be proud of, and is rated appropriately high this year. My guess would be a Camden/Grayson semi-final or final depending upon the brackets, if I had to vote right now. Nevertheless, anybody with eyes that can see knows that Camden’s regular 3-AAAAA schedule was a real yawner. Boring. Routine. Camden 100 opponent 0, if Camden cared ot make it that high. But not this year. Good luck.

GwinnettDad…..Everyone knows about Camden’s time in Region 3, 5A, but still, it’s constantly brought up. Camden didn’t place itself in R3, 5A. I’ve said this before, when Camden was placed in R3, they were supposed to be the 3rd or 4th best team in the region. Camden grew and got better, the other teams didn’t. Camden did exactly what they were supposed to do once they improved, DOMINATE! Now, the CCHS Wildcats have a new challenge, in a new region, and the goal should be the same, win the region, then State Titles! Thanks for the well wishes, same to you… Go Camden County Wildcats!

@ USAF DAWG == You can’t tell a homer anything !
@Canden74 == This taste in my mouth is not crow, it is contempt for a coach and school that feels it has a need to affect the outcome because it is afraid of what might happen if there is no intervention.
@GwinnettDad == I am still here, much to your surprise I’m sure. Let’s say I called you not a whinner but ignorant, not to be mean but because of you not knowing anything about the subject being discussed. Speaking of Patsies, hows Meadowcreek, Berkmar, Shiloh, Peachtree Ridge, Collins Hill, Mountainview, Duluth, Archer, Parkview, Habersham Central, Mill Creek, South Gwinnett and Central Gwinnett doing ? Those are really some powerhouse teams in region 7 and 8!
@fred == You are correct. Those are the circumstances. Playing in a place like Colquit, everyone needs protection. There is a total of four(4) yards from the sideline to the fence on the visitors sideline. Very, very dangerous.

Camden will face the same situation starting at the end of this month. Unfortunately, it’s part of the game and it’s to be expected. HogPen is the best place in Ga to watch high school football!
Fans are right up on the field and the only bad seats are the bottom rows where you can’t see over the players.
I do agree thatis a little dangerous for those running full speed and can’t stop, especially just beyond the end-zone the fence is too close.
Greatest game and most electric atmosphere was in 1994 when Pack beat Valdosta in the HogPen to win the State Title.
Ten times better than playing at the Dome!
As far as the Lovejoy/Packer game is concerned, both teams were rather sloppy!

Brookwood was very lucky to win that game. Mill Creek gave that one away. 3 turnovers (Fumble lost on the 1 yd line). Punt return for a TD. Missed 19 yd. FG….

Well said Lovejoy player. If you wanna blame somebody, blame #7 and #40. They celebrated every tackle like they were in the super bowl. I’m still shocked their coaches continually let them do that. Calls went both ways, but do y’all think we hire our own refs or something? Get real.barentbtheybfrom Atlanta? And FYI, Propst called a timeout after the bogus call. Wasn’t like he out there causing a delay of game. Lovejoy was simply out coached. Say what you want to, but the hit on #19 was an illegal hit. It was helmet to helmet and was a defenseless WR. Thats called on all levels of football.
Don’t get too pumped about a JV score, we use that to start implementing out offense so it’s a learning experience. You won’t ever see Colquitt with a real strong jv team bc of that

The biggest mistake high school athletes make, is waiting for college coaches to contact them. Even if your getting letters from colleges, it doesn’t necessarily mean your being recruited. @ Camden 74 == I assure you that ALovejoyplayer is not a Lovejoy player. You won’t find them on this or any other blog. Not our style. That is a posting poser. Someone that is trying to make it look like Lovejoy admits to being undisciplined. Think about it for a minute. Why would a player come here and admit to being undisciplined as to the cause of their loss ? If anything, he would say they cheated, right ?

Where is GwinnettDad ? He must have gotten more info on the Lovejoy game or had a chance to see it for himself. All this chatter and no one has answered the questions. How does a wideout get called for ineligible man down field ? How does a team get a 30 yard penalty for a personal foul ? I’m waiting for those with football knowledge on this blog to help me out on these mind boggling questions. Illegal hit? I thought this was a tough region ! # 7 and # 40 were destroying your star # 13, Cole Seagraves, just as I thought they would. You can call them by name because you will here much more from them. They are Zane Fields, # 7 and Nathaniel Norwood, #40. Both are D-1 prospects that gave your QB’s fits.

Nobody said they didn’t play well, they just acted like they’ve never made a tackle before. And if you have two separate personal foul calls on the same play, 30 yards is what happens. Can’t answer the ineligible receiver downfield. And it was an obvious illegal hit, I don’t care what region you play in. Games over man, y’all got beat so quit cryin and move on

I guess we’re the only team out there that brings in our own refs. The rest of y’all need to catch up to the times. We also recruit our own players. We had a great recruiting weekend for our first home game and got the win. Feels good guys

@sportsnut – Are you sure it was the wideout that called? I was watching the video stream and while better than nothing it wasn’t quite up to ESPN standards. I don’t remember the exact play and don’t really want to go look it up. The line of scrimmage box is only 4 yards deep so it could very well be possible that a lineman got past that before the pass. I’m not saying that was it – I don’t know. I’m just offering a possible solution.

ok CoffeeC100, you all are not in no position to brag. I was at your game against Whitewater. They were not a quality opponent for you all but Coffee did what they suppose to do. Ware is in the same region as those Savannah teams. We’ll see how that will turn out. As for our game,we’ll see you all in the Den Oct. 5

Although it will never be agreed upon, there was photographic evidence of the int and 2 pt conversion in favor of Colquitt. Like you said its over and don’t matter, but therebwas photos.
Bk- we keep our refs locked up in a basement at Rush’s house and only let them out on Fridays. He has the basement for the refs and a bar and strip club for the recruits we bring in to show em a good time.
