Predictions: Expect Buford, St. Pius to win big non-region games

Week 2 was not a great one for your local high school football prognosticator (71.5 percent correct), just like it wasn’t a great week for Central-Macon, Grovetown, Cross Keys, Dublin, Forest Park and Stewart County, who all got beat by at least 50 points. Look for Dublin and Forest Park to bounce, and I’m hoping to do the same by taking Peach County over Baldwin, Buford over Gainesville, Calhoun over Dalton, Valdosta over Brooks County and St. Pius over North Oconee in what should be a great weekend of games.

And congratulations go out to Aubrey Moree of Cumming, who was the first-week winner in the High School Football Pickoff contest. Moree was one of eight contestants to correctly pick the winner in 13 of 15 games and won the tiebreaker for the closest guess of the score of the Flowery Branch-Northside game.
