Northside-Warner Robins star player is shot

A star football player for Northside-Warner Robins was treated and released Sunday for a gunshot wound to the back, Macon-area media have reported.

Austin Roberts, a defensive lineman who made Georgia High School Football Daily’s preseason all-state team, is recovering but not expected to play in this week’s game against Veterans High, according to the Macon Telegraph.

Roberts was attending a neighborhood gathering, Northside coach Kevin Kinsler told the Macon newspaper.

“Somebody started shooting, and everyone scattered,” Kinsler said. “[Roberts] just happened to get hit in the back.”

Roberts had 12 sacks on Northside’s 13-1 team in 2011. Northside is ranked No. 1 in Class AAAAA.

I wish him a speedy recovery. Sad thing is unfortunately this kind of incident could take place anywhere at anytime. If you don’t think so then you are just naive. People are crazy now a days.
