Great! Thanks Todd! I wish you would further evaluate Valdosta though, maybe after Lovejoy beats Colquitt, you will move them up a little higher. From what I have seen so far, the only teams that Valdosta will be close to losing are Camden, Lowndes (the rivalry), and the so far unpredictable Coffee.

Ok I will be first…and the first to tell you “I told you so” in ref to Dublin. Now don’t get me wrong, Dublin will be around after the Region, but are not a Top 10 team at this point. Also not sure where you got your info for the Vidalia – Weat Laurens game, but W.L. didn’t drop a pass on the last play of regulation or overtime. In regulation, Vidalia intercepted a pass on the 10 and went 90 yards for a score, only to have ot called back for a hold. It then went into OT and after Vidalia scored, W.L. failed to score…the last play of the game they were stopped short of a first down on a completed pass at the 4yd line.

Norcross belongs in the top ten.

Norcross will battle North Gwinnett in 2 weeks. Winner will likely win region 7.

I am looking forward to the playoffs where hopefully Camden will play Grayson in the finals. Alas, I know that somehow the GHSA will figure out a way to screw that up.

Lowndes is better than both walton and north gwinnett…..walton has NO defense…i seen that on gpb other night when mceachern scored 35 and mceachern is a shell of the team they were last year….

colquitt only beat tcc by 2 and gave up 33 points…..which make the north gwinnett win over them less impressve to me…….north gwinnett is a good team but colquitt is not elite as they were last year…they have done nothing but prove me right on everything ohave said about them the 1st two weeks……yo dont get better when you lose ty smith, willie woodyard..shermaine washington,,,and the best kicker you have ever had oscar luna.

1. Grayson 2. Camden. 3. Lowndes. 4. Valdosta. 5. Lovejoy. 6.Walton..7. lassiter.. and so on

Can we PLEASE get two separate (public/private) polls for Class A? The playoffs are split between public and private schools, the poll should be split too.

Mark my words, The Colquitt Coaches will get our Packers ready by the time play-offs come around. We always start slow and finish strong. We looked 100% better compared to the NG game. TCC will really hit-ya and they’ll go a long way this year but without the first play kick-off return and a couple of long plays the score would’ve been 35-12. The veer just tough to defend.

Lowndes, Valdosta, Camden and Colquitt will all make a run this year and any of the four will be ready to take out Grayson in the Dome.

Go Region 1 AAAAAA !

If Lassiter continues to look as impressive as they did against Hillgrove in the first half and the coaches learn not to put it in neutral, they will be very tough the remainder of the year. The defense is much better than what they showed in the second half Friday night. It is also obvious that Eddie Printz is for real and has great leadership on and off the field. Can’t wait to see the match-up against Kell and Walton.

Class AAAAAA Newnan this Friday (and not Banneker, as mentioned above).
Should be a GREAT game between 2 very good programs. If you are in the area and want to see some legit talent, you should go to this one at the newly renovated Drake Stadium, 7:30 kickoff time

@ bksmith14… We better not hear a peep from you if Colquitt beats Lowndes. Say what you will, but they ALWAYS show up for the playoffs. I hope NG plays Lowndes in the playoffs. Payback is oh so sweet.

I watched some film of Lowndes, Camden, Colquitt, and Grayson in Mo Dixon’s office yesterday and he has PAGES AND NOTEBOOKS of notes and schemes about how to beat those teams. I use to play for him, and we talked for a couple hours about how Lowndes and Camden look like they have found their bread and butter running game again. Lowndes has considerable size on the OL and one of the running backs is very quick through the hole. Camden is just a well oiled machine this year. IDK how Mo Dixon gets film every week of the anual title contenders, but he gets it and keeps finding every weakness and gameplanning for the playoffs. This doesn’t mean that NG automatically beat those teams, but it deffinately means that Sphire and Mo Dixon will be fully prepared to go 4 qrts against any of the four. If our defense can hold up for the course of 15 games, I like our chances to contend for the title with Sphire and Mo Dixon at the helm. They learn from their losses the first time and don’t make those mistakes twice.

Oh and by the way…Grayson is the only team that needs to be ranked because they are the ones that have to be dethroned. Plain and simple.

P.S. – You can all stop wishing that Grayson isn’t as good as they were last year, because they are obviously better. Wishful thinking time is over, let the boys play and see what happens.

Ridgeland has had some high-profile players the past 3-4 years, but I wouldn’t say they’ve been loaded with them. According to Steve Slay’s annual research of college rosters, Ridgeland had 7 alumni on college rosters in 2011. In the last three seasons, Ridgeland has lost in the playoffs to Woodward (16 college players), Flowery Branch (14) and Peach County (18).

@tigonian – I don’t understand your reference to Coffee as unpredictable. We have won going away every time we have walked on the field this year. I see a strong possibility of Coffee standing at 5-0 when we travel down to Camden in October. If that pans out it will have the prospect of being an interesting contest as Camden will be coming off their first road trip into 1-6A at Valdosta. We will be beginning to find our who’s who in 1-6A by the first weekend in October. It’s going to be exciting and it’s going to be fun.

GO TROJANS!!

This poll has some serious flaws.

Lowndes, Colquitt, Walton, Lassiter too high.
Valdosta way too low.

But…this is the ATLANTA journal

Grayson, Camden, and Lowndes run the same offense. Who else in top ten runs the Wing? Should teams take note this is better offense for high school? Who has best WIng team?

The Canes definitely deserve to be ranked. 2 straight trips to the state, including an elite 8 berth in 2010…19-5 over the least 2 seasons. We destroyed arch rival and AAAAA for Loganville 50-7 in the season opener. We sent two 4×100 teams to the state finals in the spring, with one team bringing home a championship. All 8 of those guys are on the football team, including 7 that start. There’s probably not a faster/quicker team in AAAA. Don’t overlook these guys. Coach Fligg has built a contender.

The wing-T is old . It however is a good offense if you have the athletes. Your linemen must make their blocks and your backs must run and hit the hole. No time for dancing. The hole must be hit when the block is initiated or the offense will stall. You must have a passing game if you run into a team that will take away the dive and their DE’s are keeping contain and not fall for the fake dive as this is when the Qb. will hurt you on the read if your DE’s bite too much on the dive. I have not seen Lowndes this year but I have seen the others and in my opinion, Camden does it best.

In AAA, Peach County Trojans barely escaped with a victory in Perry. Not sure they deserve that #1 ranking.

@Bksmith14=you guys couldn’t beat North Gwinnet if you played them friday. in their zone defense you only get a few open looks to capitalize on and we missed our 3 chances. And the only way is to have a quarterback to even get the chance to capitalize and last time i checked you don’t have a quqrterback.

@Doc1 who is your favorite team? I think you are wishing MLK don’t have a team like last year. The coaches know it that is why they have made ADJUSTMENTS to the offense and defensive side of the ball!

I regret that Valdosta’s first Region game is against Camden. While everyone else may be overlooking the Cats, I know Camden will not be. We then get a bye week before facing Lowndes in the Winnersville Classic. By October 13th, we’ll have a pretty good idea about who is top dog in Region 1-AAAAAA. And I don’t mean to be overlooking Colquitt or Coffee, ’cause they care capable of throwing a monkey wrench in everything. Ain’t high school football great!

Nobody can compete with northside in 5A. Like really they could have beat flowery branch even worse. Flowery branch should not have dropped out of the top ten its just that northside is to real they will beat everybody like that in 5A expect for tucker and warner robins and they still win those games by two touchdowns.

Nghs09……i would love an opportunity to play north gwinnett this year bc i would bet lowndes would win that game by at least 2 tds……….

I give it to ya……..yall beat colquitt ….colquitt does always start slow…i cant argue with pack fans on that and we do have to play them at the hogpen…..so we will be playing against them…the 12th man and maybe some bais refs…who knows…but i like our chances this year better than last years goin into that game……….regradless of the outcome of that game…whether we loos or win…….lowndes will make playoffs and i pray we get a shot at you guys…..

my bad on my rankings…lol..north gwinnett i would have at #4 then # 5 valdosta

Nghs09……………you say it right when you say lowndes looks to have found their ol running game again……..this is because the head coach randy mcpherson(coach mac) has taken back over the offenssive play calling duties at lowndes…….he stopped calling the plays after the 2008 year…..we were much better when he was calling plays……so i am happy to see him take the reigns back and never understood why he handed them over in the first place….

with that said……lowndes is good this year but i am not saying we cant be beat……colquitt beat us last year bad 34-7…but we were a much better team than that score showed….ask grayson….we gave them a fight….only lost by 8 and we were at midfield driving when time ran out on us…we just didnt have the qb to throw the ball consistently on those guys….

lowndes is big and solid on the oline…especially 3 guys who are seniors……

going to be interesting……a 7-3 team out of region 1 6aaaaaa could win the state title….

@ T J morris… Northside play great!!! No lie but c’mon man…really nobody in 5A can come within 2 touchdowns. Tucker can beat Northside and kell can also!!! Any team can really but there are around 7 teams who can honestly beat Northside. But I no for a fact Tucker can beat Northside !!

north gwinnett plays zone…thats fine….we would run the wing t at em all night long….sure they would stop is sometimes…but with the backs we have and the oline we have …we WOULD score…and score more than once i can promise you that against them……lowndes has way more depth this year at rb and qb…….both of our qbs are better than what we had last year…..

after you get through wallering around in the mud and eatin corn….get back on here and chat…barely beat tcc…..give me a break
