Grayson won a showdown between teams ranked No. 1 by national polls on Friday.
Grayson, Georgia’s 2011 Class AAAAA champion, was ranked No. 1 by ESPN, while Miami Central was ranked as USA Today’s No. 1 team.
Grayson got two short touchdown runs from Robert Nkemdiche and longer scoring plays from Wayne Gallman and Jordan Germany in a dominating performance.
Grayson amassed 355 total offense to Miami Central’s 22. Miami had two running backs committed to FBS (formerly called Division I-A) schools but was held to 17 yards rushing and 3-of-12 passing. It was 21-3 at halftime.
David McTier 38-yard pass to Gallman set up Nkemdiche’s first touchdown, a 3-yard TD run, for a 7-0 lead with 5:58 left in the first quarter.
Early in the second, McTier hit Gallman on a 54-yard pass on third down for a touchdown and a 14-0 lead.
Grayson made it 21-3 on Nkemdiche’s 2-yard run with 14 seconds left in the half after a 76-yard, 15-play drive. Brandon Lewis’ 26-yard run and an interference call on Central Miami sustained the drive.
Germany’s 66-yard touchdown run with 9:23 left in the third made it 28-3, and David Fennell’s 2-yard run put Grayson up 35-3 with 1:40 left. Germany was Grayson’s leading rusher with 88 yards.
Central got its points on a 51-yard field goal by Emilio Nadelman.

Just like I’ve been saying for years………..
The Grayson Program is what everyone is missing. JV, Freshman, and the youth programs have all been going undefeated or one loss season for YEARS……And they all run the same offence. Grayson is a machine!!!!

Just watched the first 4-5 minutes on replay. Wow, were the refs in the bag for Grayson or what? Nkidemiche fumbled TWICE on the opening drive, not even a close call at all, and both times the refs ruled the play over before the fumble. The second one was ruled a TD though the ball popped out and landed at the 3 yard line. Good think Grayson dominated the rest of the game, or the officiating would have been seriously in doubt in this one. At least based on the first few minutes.

They just showed a better replay of the second fumble, the TD, and it looked like a good call, though VERY close. The first fumble was a no-doubter, though, and would have erased the TD.

the refs killed the game?? lmao or maybe it was because the other team only gained a total of 22 yards. Grayson was dominant on both sides of the ball (especially the defensive side) and anyone who watched the game knows that those fumbles wouldn’t have done anything to change the outcome of the game. Central was just outmatched, plain and simple.

Grayson dominated the entire game. Positives this season: A solid QB that will be a big play threat, and a kicking game that we have lacked in past seasons. Negatives: Way to many fumbles. Guys have got to hold on to the ball or it will be one of those turnovers that will cost us a game.

I was at the game last and I have to admitt. From most peoples vantage point we didn’t see a the fumbles. So this is news to me. Roberts fumble (or so called fumble) in the endzone looked as if he crossed the plain already, which would be a TD even if he did fumble right after.
Well, if was a bad call, then it was a bad call. Not sure it would have gain them more passing yards, rushing yards, or anything else to help them win that game…………

IT’s plain and simple…………….GRAYSON has the best defense in the country and has for years!!!!
If a team can hold every team it has played during a season to under an average of 50 yards rushing a game, should have been noticed 5 years ago. Tjones and both the Miami backs are no match for Grayson Defense. History has shown this!!

To all the Ram haters:
Rams will not fall off the face of the earth after this year although the current crop of 11 graders will not see the field much this year – they did win Gwinnett JV champ last year w/ a 9-0 record and the youth feeder program continues to excel n the GFL (Gwinnett Football League (thanks for the feeder idea Valdosta) – no county in the US prepares kids for 7AAAAAA and 8AAAAAA like the GFL (look out for Mill Creek in the coming years – they dominate the youth program in the GFL). Several of the Grayson Coaching Staff, including Conn serve as ASSISTANT coaches on some of the youth teams, and the show up on Saturdays and encourage kids from 1st grade to 8th grade. I directed the Grayson youth program while the current crop of 10, 11 and 12th graders and last year’s seniors were younger. What is happening in Grayson right now is no accident, it was designed from the ground up.
Grayson’s coaching staff is the best in the Country – bar none. Look on the sidelines every Friday night and you will see the same thing – kids being coached and schooled on the sidelines while the opposing coaching staff is watching the game from the sidelines. They scheme, prepare, adjust encourage like no other staff. They are simply the best.
Grayson does not recruit. Most of the current 10, 11, and 12th graders grew up playing their ball as Rams at Bay Creek Park. However, I’m sure that if a parent is moving into Gwinnett county from…wherever, and they have a baller, they well explore Grayson.
The refs….come on, get over it. The game was called fairly and objectively. I thought Robert fumbled as well (looked like it from the stands), but the replay on the news clearly showed him in the end zone.
Bottom line – the Rams will be here awhile. The only team I’ve seen this early in the season that can compete is Camdon…maybe Brookwood because of the nature of the rivalry. Future Rams may not be able to repeat what I THINK this team can do, but they will continue on with a strong Ram’s legacy.

My daughter is a youth Ram Cheerleader. Rams are on point with feeder program……….I met the current youth director………….he sees the big picture. Think he has been there since Grayson started and has been feeding the Texas way as he coached or played there, that director is fanatic about building a dynasty. The program is solid from 1st to 12th grade. Might not win all games in youth but when they hit 8th grade……..watchout. I saw a 8th grade games this and last year……….if varsity have a off year next season it wont take long for them to great when these 8th graders hit varsity.

There must be a lot of Grayson HATERS out there… I keep reading folks complaining about the fumble call… What if we remove the TD scored during that drive and give Miami a TD…. The score would still be 28-10… Miami Central was out coached and out played on the field…. The refs didnt prevent Miami from crossing the endzone…. Grayson Defense did Grayson deserves the praise they’ are receiving until someone can knock them off the pedestal. GHS 13 is right. Grayson NEVER wins the game. Beat the hell out of walton in state and its discounted because of a call that was correct anyways in the colquitt game. Beat the hell out of miami central and a fumble early in the game has the refs questioned. we could have played with the refs being parents of miami central players and they wouldnt have stayed on the field with us last night. But now comes the stretch of the schedule where everybody stops talking about us, handle business in region up until brookwood and see what happens from there. Congrats to Grayson, although I still can’t stang the WING-T offense. You can win running it because it’s very simple, easy to coach and learn. My biggest problems with it are the CUT BLOCKING techniques that are taught to kids, lack of passing game and the fact that it doesn’t prepare kids for college football which they all hope to play. Great win for the Grayson Rams

I was there screaming my head off. Everyone around me looked at each other at the first Robert fumble but we couldn’t really tell. The second one, we thought he broke the plane of the goal. No one has said anything about MC’s pass reception fumble. All of us were amazed that was called a fumble! Now after saying that, if the refs were for Grayson they did a pretty poor job calling all the open field holding we say MC do on our defensive secondary! I would say the calls probably evened out.
The thing that really surprised me was the athleticism of MC vs Grayson. All I had heard for months was that MC had the best athletes and would run away from our secondary all night. We got beat a couple of times but I thought we did real well covering them. I was amazed that we ran them down on those pass and run plays/kick returns! and what about Germany running away form them for the touchdown! The diving tackle attempt made him stumble but he kept right on motoring along.
We’ve got 13 more 1 game seasons to the end. As long as we keep taking it that way, we should be okay.

@ak – we have been very very lucky with the player personnel we have been blessed with over the past 5 years. Note I said 5 years. That means the current players were not even in high school when the run started. Some of our so called “best” teams were from 2 or 3 years ago but we still keep putting quality players on the field. I know it could all end tomorrow but as long as we have a good program, we will attract the younger players into the program starting in GFL. Who is your team? It might help us understand your perspective.

lol @ ghs#22 your obviously just a kid that loves his school. Im a realist, im a fan of gwinnett county footbal. Do you guys not realize parkview went 15-0 3 times in a row and went to the quarterfinals for 11 or 12 straight years? I still dont label parkview as a dynasty on the level of lowndes, valdosta, brookwood etc. Parkview had a crazy influx of talent for about an 8 year span, similar to what grayson is having now. they played in 6 state championship games in 10 years. The true test of graysons program will be next year and the year after. @ Fred, your so called best team is this team right now
ak

the talent influx is due to growth in the county. also @ fred, what grade do you think jeff francouer was in when parkview played in there first championship game? parkview still has the same coach and the same feeder system. the talent just dried up. it will happen at grayson. like i said previously, enjoy this run however long it lasts its definelty been a special run

10:18 am
@ak – There became a lot more options for players in Gwinnett since Parkview’s run. Things are slowing down now in terms of growth. I fully expect Archer and a few others to continue to get better but the strong teams will continue to attract talent. Overall, the pool of talent is larger now than it was.
This may be the best team but several years ago, there were teams that were considered the best ever. No one could anticipate the talent coming along now just like we can’t imagine who will come along in the next several years. I recognize it could end tomorrow but for now, I am going to enjoy it and work to help it continue.

Fred, I disagree with your perception the MC dropped pass/fumble (if you are talking of the one in 4th qtr, on their sideline that led to our last score). Replays clearly show a catch AND a “football move” when the receiver made an attempt to turn to his left. Gaines had moved from safety to CB during that series and made a textbook tackle, shooting his hand right through the ball to cause a fumble. Check your game DVD when it arrives.
The holding and blocking in the back “no-calls” were horrible, but like the bad call on Nkemdiche’s first drop thaey are part of every HS game. It happens. Good teams overcome, losers don’t and haters hate.(See Colquitt)
ak – you are correct: one day the talent will change. However, your analogy with Parkview is somewhatoff base. Parkview lost several assistant coaches along the way, which Grayson has not. Yet. Yes the population changed for them, as it is with Grayson, but until we lose the key coaches like Parkview did, we will continue to field above average football teams.

@ak…………..Influx of talent? 90% of Grayson kids grow up playing for Grayson. That does not sound like an influx of talent, sounds like farmed talent.
Going off track a second here………………but speaking of influx, you may not know that most of Camden Countys kids are an influx of military folks coming through all the time. Most of those kids spend one maybe two years at the school and move on. (no disrespect to CC. Great Program)
Remember Grayson is only 12 years old, and compare that to Lowndes and Valdosta. I don’t imagine you hearing of one Gwinnett Co school with as many State titles as Valdosta or Lowndes, but I do imagine you will hear serveral Gwinnett Co schools with muliple state titles over the next 20 to 30 years. Then you compare that record. Truth be told…..if Gwinnett Co had two high schools for all of the county over the last 50 years, then you would have never heard of Valdosta or Lowndes!

Zone3 – easy on the crack pipe. How many of the Grayson kids have already committed to the next level. In the WingT just the HINT of a passing game opens it up, and the last 17 games have demonstrated that Grayson has just enough of a passing game to loosen up the safeties thereby making the running game that much more effective. Look no further than last years team, and the QBs full ride which he gave up to walk on at Clemson. It’s not the most exciting offense to watch at the high school level, but it wins. Besides, the WingT is no more than a variation on other offenses…outside, outside, inside, pass…….just a different formation. You can run any offense out of the WingT…..dang it gets old defending a champion.

Camden 74… Brice Ramsey made his name on the camp circuit right? The system works in high school because of all the misdirection which goes against everything you’ve been taught about getting to the ball. You have to play assignment football against the WING-T which will make an overly aggressive defense like Miami Central look silly. You gotta realize the only time them Miami boys see that CHICKEN WING OFFENSE is when they cross that state line. The coaches in Dade coach to win, but also develop QB’s WR’s RB’s and LB’s for COLLEGE FOOTBALL, which the WING-T does not prepare them for. A win is a win though PROPS to Grayson.

From where I was sitting, it was hard see exactly what happened. You are correct about how long ago it was people were unhappy with Mickey. I’m glad he had the support needed to keep going. I too, remember the game of the in bounds fumble recovery called out and the reception, 4 steps and hit that was called an incomplete! Maybe that’s why I thought the MC reception wasn’t. :-O

@Joe – Grow up boy! By now everyone knows how to spell Robert’s name and all you are doing is making yourself look immature. Yes, our defense is strong without Robert but even stronger with him. No, there is no way Buford beats us this year and I’m not one that normally makes statements like that. Really, who wishes an injury on a player at any level, much less high school! smh

@Zone3canE – if the coaches in FL are such good coaches, you would think they would prepare their kids for the kind of offense they will see in the next game, especially when it is the first game of the season and has all the hype this one did. I didn’t see anything out of the offense that was supposed to run circles around us. We only got beat on routes a couple of times and ran down the “better athletes” several times. The last time I looked, we were playing high school football – not college or pros. We need to go with what works here.
Thanks for the props on the game. I was predicting a 3-7 point spread and couldn’t even hazard a guess as to the score. I didn’t know if it would be high scoring or low scoring.

@Zone3canE, you sound like a really smart football guy but you are wrong on the topic of the Wing-T. My brother is a division one football scout and he spends alot of time at Lowndes,Grayson, and Camden scouting Linemen, RB’s, WR’s,and QB’s and many of these guys excell at the next level. The lineman really do well because in College because great foot work is a must in this offense. If you have a QB that can throw the ball this offense can’t be stopped. Hell, I think Brice Ramsy has 5 touchdown passes in 2 games.

Hahahahh Joe Buford is good in there classification but as they found out several years ago when they were beat by Central Gwinnett they cant compete with 5A/6A. A year before that Grayson beat them in a scrimmage rather bad. Trust me I was on the field. With that said they were the hardest hitting team I had seen and knocked our running back out cold.
I am getting a little sick of this Robert crap though too!!!

@Grayson Fanatic…You and I both know Buford would have zero chance against Grayson. I am just sick and tired of reading and hearing about this Robert DeKimchi fella. But by judging by his dance moves and the helmet half way off after every play just shows me that he is about himself instead of the team. Attitudes like that always gets the better of oneself and at Div I football he will his teammates will show him that that will not be accepted. And still with that me attitude he will be a 5th round draft pick and he will not last no more that 4 years in NFL. He will get cut during pre season and he will be broke. Couldnt have happened to a better guy.

gotta chime in on nkemdiche, what do you guys think? has it gone to his head? i read in the papers hes a model citizen and none of it has. from an outsiders perspective just watching it seems like it has. i watched him pull his helmet halfway off as time expired in the first half and wave at the central sideline like “is this all you got?” I watched him play 5 times last year and everytime he had me thinkin is this guy human?? I know everybody is double and triple teaming him but the fumbles just seem to be lazyness. the one in the dome was a little league fumble, 3rd graders know how to take a handoff. Theres no reason for him to be cramping halfway through the 3rd quarter?? whats up with that??? And he seems to be a step slower than last year, what do yall think?

@GHS#22….reading some of your other comments made me realize you are not bright at all. How are you making it through High School is beyond me. Next time I see the number 22 on the field I am going to tell all my friends and people around me in the stands that “that number 22 guy is a real dummy” because you really are, Pal.

@ak…you and I know that most high school number ones never pan out…only 1.3 percent of the number one rated guys actually make that huge of difference. Most just turn out to be just so so or good enough to start. That cramping issue was the funniest thing. He just wanted attention. It was all about him that night.

My understanding is Nkemdiche has only been playing football since the 7th grade……pretty darn good for just picking the sport up a few years back. I wish I knew more about offense types….Wing T? As my memory serves me Grayson really came on the map with 2006- 2007 class of seniors.

Finally, watched to Grayson MC game on DVR. I have to admitt the first fumble Robert made was legitimate. It was a fumble! So if that stood, then no TD……………
Now with that being said………..The rest of the game was a good ole fashion BUTT whomping!!!!
The score just would have been 28-3. Still a Butt Whomping considering MC’s record and ranking.

I was very impressed with the new or newer Corner back. I think his name is Napp. All of the defensive secondary were very solid including him.
Great Game for Germany and Mctier also. I dont think I will survive this bye week. MUST WATCH MORE GRAYSON FOOTBALL NOW!!!

@Joe – My comment was indeed focused on your apparent age as demonstrated by your words. Wishing a 17 year old ill will is certainly not a mark of maturity further emphasizing my point. Bigot? It is clear you know nothing about me and haven’t even bothered to read my comments on this and many blogs.

@ak – I too am concerned about the fumbles and the cramping. It appears as though Robert has gotten bigger since last year and may not have adjusted to playing at game speed. We will see as the season continues.

Ga. has got the best ftball teams nationwide…… No surprise to me that Grayson put it on um… If Grayson goes undefeated this year , they ought to be national champs. The sad thing about it there are more games to go against the best hs football teams in the nation, right here at home…
I believe that ther are a few teams that can match up with Grayson in the state, Still too early to crown them 6a champs yet…..
i can name a few of them, and just did get by 2-3 teams in the state last year. and had one game given to them, the Brookwood game for one, and kell 7-0 and kell was 4a.. better be ready for some more of those type games because both of those games were won by lady luck….at least I know Brookwood was a gift grayson won the game but Brookwood gave it to um… right??

@battleaxekid – I don’t think you will find too many knowledgeable Grayson fans that don’t know we have a tough row to hoe. We have discussed the Kell game many times but to recap, Grayson did only what it had to to win the game. We were determined to show nothing. There was way too much improvement between the Kell game and the Edgewater game the next week. Did we almost blow it? Absolutely! Did we learn from that mistake? Gosh I hope so! Good teams put themselves in a position to take advantage of the flow of the game. We were able to capitalize on a Brookwood mistake. Many people say poo and it happened in the last few seconds. The last time I looked, games were a full 48 minutes, not 47 minutes and 40 seconds. Would it have made a difference if we had scored that last touchdown 5 minutes earlier? For what it is worth, R1 teams have had similar games where the opposing team makes a mistake in the waning seconds and have counted their blessings!

With the way the defense is playing anyone in region 8 will be lucky to get any points. Only way to beat Grayson is to stop the offense consistently and pray to the gods that you can sneak a wide receiver or running back down the field.
