Week 2 Picks: Cedar Grove, Peachtree Ridge have chance to bounce back in Week 2

The teams that lost their openers last weekend had to do so in a pretty bright spotlight, considering there were only about 50 games played around the state. Many will get a chance to recover in Week 2, although the stage will be a lot more crowded as the majority of teams kick off their seasons. Look for Cedar Grove, Clinch County, Colquitt County, Landmark Christian, Marietta, Peachtree Ridge and Woodward Academy to be among the teams bouncing back from opening-week losses.

Want to see how you stack up as a prognosticator against other high school football fans? The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s High School Football Pickoff contest is back for a second season. Click here to register and participate in this week’s competition. The contest is open from noon Tuesday until noon Friday each week. I’ll announce the previous week’s winner in this column each Thursday.

@ dekalbcounty21: Will MLK be using double tight ends in honor of its former coach?

B.E.S.T. Academy will make history this year. They do not play like a team with no seniors on the roster ,or in the school for that matter. They will be a serious contender this year.

Said from the beginning that Colquitt Co. was being overrated this year, and they are. Me thinks Thomas Co. Central takes care of the Packers this week, as they are stronger than predicted based on last week. CCHS will disappoint a lot of people this year. BTW, heard from a supposedly “eyewitness” that Propst was throwing things in the locker room after that last minute loss last Sat. and had them out practicing for 3 hrs. on Sunday. Guess he wasn’t “pleased”.

The RAIDERS from EAST head up 92 to our neighbor’s in the North end of the county for tonight’s game with North Paulding. Last years game let the Raider’s showcase everybody who dressed out as EAST rolled to a 63 / 0 win! Combined with the 2010 loss of 47 / 10, the Wolfpack has been outmatched by a combined score of 110 / 10 by the Raiders!

Both teams enter this game at North Paulding with NEW coaching staffs in place…EAST looks to continue and build on it’s winning tradition and move even deeper into the playoffs…

Look out Wolfpack, as you look across the field tonight at the packed visitors side full of cheering RAIDER fans with horns blowing and bells ringing we know you see where North WANTS to be…you’ll get there in time…JUST NOT TONIGHT!!!

TICK…TICK…TICK…BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
GO RAIDERS!!!! The 2012 Championship Season Begins Tonight!!!

I know the AJC is predicting Cedar Grove to beat Columbia and they might but Columbia is unveiling a speedster running back #21 Antonio Manson. He is a Sophmore with wheels.

Colquitt county will not lost to tcc…..i said they were overrated but not that much overrated……..they are just not better than last years team……..tehy do not have an elite running game……boatright is not an elite back…….that kills colquitt in my opinion and the loss of ty smith is going to standout even more as the season goes on…………colquitts offense……..STOP BOBBY HILL.!!!!

I am a big King fan, but you don’t have relations your players mothers. Point blank..you can’ defend that. I know a lot of coach’s step over that line. Coach just got caught.
