Camden impresses national pollsters with lopsided victory

Camden County’s 42-0 victory over Peachtree Ridge helped earn the Wildcats rankings in USA Today (No. 25) and MaxPreps (No. 23) for the first time this season. Colquitt County fell out of two national polls after an opening loss to North Gwinnett.

Grayson is now in the top eight of all eight major national polls (with links to the complete polls). The CalPreps’ computer poll had the Rams at No. 18 to open the season but No. 7 now.

Camden County might be the best team in the state right now.

Camden played a team that was not any good, they are a 2 trick pony, I do not see how they are the best in the State.

Here we go 74, let the craziness begin. I’m curious to see how Camden ranks at the end of the season also, keep improving on aspects of the game, they’ll be alright…Go Wildcats

Grayson had better be prepared to stop the spread offense, and be able to score lots of points in a hurry, because if they get behind, they can forget the run game. Miami Central keeps the pigskin in the air, shall I say Air Coryell…

Tipp Smooth…..That’s all I’m concerned about, where’s Camden ranked at season’s end. If they keep improving every game, we have a lot to look forward to…….They looked better in the first game this year than they did in the first game last year. Just keep improving on the fundamentals and being in the correct position on every play, especially on defense. Remember how Colquitt attacked the defense in the playoffs by using motion and misdirection to pull players out of position on the weak/backside of the defense? :-D

Oh, how do I remember. I can remember driving back to Jacksonville totally in disbelief of that game. There was enough mental mistakes, and then to end the game on a call that was questionable, but we know it was Camden’s ball the other way.

When the game was over vs Colquitt last year, I stated to myself ” What in the heck just happened? ” What happened was JJ interecepted the ball and the game was over. Camden always was up 7 to 10 points most of the entire game. Nice pick JJ. The game everyone wanted to see last year, Camden vs Grayson did not happen……..maybe this year in the playoffs?

Yep, you guys are right, but unfortunately it didn’t go Camden’s way…..Just another lesson in life, things don’t always go the way they’re supposed to! Let’s look forward to things working out this season. Hopefully it ends in the dome with Camden hoisting the State Championship Trophy! :-D

When in doubt, schedule a metro Atlanta team that thinks they are good to open the season. Camden County is currently the state’s finest program. Peachtree Ridge has been destroyed in this manner before to open the season. However, do not get ahead of yourselves. I remember Lowndes County folks jumping off of the roof after violating the nationally ranked Peachtree Ridge in 2009, watching their beloved Vikings shoot up the national polls. The bottom line is Peachtree Ridge players and coaches usually back down in big games. Friday nights contest against Camden County was as big as it gets. The result was predictable…just like Colquitt County serving pre-season hype Kool-Aid, the AJC drinking it up and the Packers losing multiple regular season games (and giving excuse after excuse every step of the way). North Gwinnett??? Seriously?

If Camden fans thought Peachtree Ridge was soft, wait until you start playing most of the South Georgia programs in Region 1. It is the most overrated region in the state, by far. They went 1-17 in 4 years of competition against Northside (Middle Georgia). The region can not be that good & full of so many heavyweights if one team [Northside (Warner Robins)] goes 17-1 against them. I expect Camden to run the table and make examples out of some overhyped programs and coaches, errr Colquitt County, Valdosta & Coffee.

I need to see a few more games before Camden impresses me to be honest. I just don’t think Peachtree Ridge was all that good

@eaglenationrising Cmon man. You can’t think that Region 1 is any softer than Region 4-AAAAAA or Region 8-AAAAAA. Plus I don’t think Northside Warner Robins schedule is all that tough this year *shrugs shoulders*
