Westminster up 7-0 on Blessed Trinity w/ Nigel Walker scoring on a short run. Didn’t see it, but Jake Forte hit a long pass to set it up to Nelson Douglas. I’ve heard that Forte has the strongest arm for a Westminster QB in years, including Gordon Beckham. Harrison Butker is 2-for-2 in kickoffs into the end zone. Going to Tech.

Tucker 9, Cedar Grove 0.
First game for new coach Bryan Lamar at Tucker, the 2011 champion in AAAA. Tucker lost its top 7 tacklers on defense, but was favored over #7 cedar grove of AAA. CG has QB Johnathon McCrary, who can become DeKalb’s all-time leading passer, if not the state’s, this year. He’s going to Vandy.

Haven’t heard much about Westlake this preseason. That would be a big win vs. Hillgrove. …
Other scores of ranked teams …
Burke 14, Thomson 0 … That’s a rematch of a region title game from a year ago that Burke won 31-8. Burke went on to win the AAA title. Burke has handled Thomson pretty good the past few years.
Brooks County 14, Clinch County 0 – Brooks (AA) is expected to have its best team in years. Clinch is not.

ELCA 6, WaCo 3, 3:15 in 2nd. WaCo at midfield. … ELCA is ranked #2 in Class A. Waco is #10 in AAA.

Woodward is AAA, Lovett AA.
Also, Newnan just scored, missed PAT, leads Marietta 13-7. About a 15-yard run by #27, I think.

After giving Burke a large kick return, fumbling in their red zone, and spotting BC 14…

Westlake 7, Hillgrove 0 at halftime. … That’s the first game as Westlake head coach for Stanley Pritchett, the former Falcons player. that would be an upset. Westlake was 4-6 last season.

GAC is up 17-2 on Stone Mountain and sitting on the Stone Mountain 4 after a nice run by Chappel. … Good effort for GAC, ranked in AA. Stone Mountain was 8-2 last season. GAC kicked a FG, 20-2 at half.
