Washington County girls basketball star Gray to miss senior season after injuring knee

Washington County girls basketball star Allisha Gray is expected to miss her senior season after tearing her ACL, MCL and meniscus while training for the USA Women’s Under-18 National Team, according to a report last week in the Augusta Chronicle.

Gray averaged about 32 points, eight rebounds, five steals, three assists and two blocks and was named the Gatorade Georgia Girls Basketball Player of the Year last season. Gray is the two-time Atlanta Journal-Constitution player of the year in Class AAA and has been named first-team all-state for three consecutive years.

Washington County won the Class AAA championship in 2011 and lost to Columbia in the state final this year.

Gray, who has committed to North Carolina, is ranked as the No. 7 player in the country by ESPN.

Sorry to see this news as this young lady is a tremendous talent.

If she reads this……..
Ms. Gray with today’s technology you will be back to 100% for your freshmen season in college (2013-2014 season). I’m a Dukie (Undergrad) but actually attended UNC-Chapel Hill for Graduate School. You will absolutely love the Triangle (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) Area and receive a quality education while playing for a perennial powerhouse.

Wishing you the best in your recovery.

I remember the first time I saw her play,we played them in the christmas tournament (middle school) girls basketball – West Laurens vs Wahington Co. They beat us by one point. She led them in scoring that night. She will become stronger, in which will make her a better player in college. Good things are on the way, for this kid will be able to handle more adversity.

I hate to hear this about any child, especially Miss Gray. She was why I attended so many of the WACO girls basketball games. You never knew what you would see when she was performing. She will be missed! I am trying to figure out how I will attend at least one of her college games.
