LOL….The Valiants will scrimmage Tift Area Academy Aug. 17, a game that will likely draw much attention as both Henderson and Tift Area head coach Ryan Branch were members of Valdosta’s coaching staff last season.

Hopefully the BULLIES will have regular season competition this time around. Anywho, I hope you personally have a good season. But the BULLIES, I’m still on the fence! :-D

Wolfie, wolfie, wolfie….LOL……Nice dig on the Colquitt loss! But not to worry, Camden will be fine this season and they WILL make it out of the Region! But as for the Bullies, they had a REAL problem last season, and it really showed itself during the Title game……..It’s simple, fix it or suffer the same fate this season! :-D

@JAB – You can’t find scrimmage game scores, it’s just that a scrimmage and who cares about the score, it doesn’t count for a team’s position in the playoff seating and a team’s overall season record. Example, Stephenson and Tucker played to a tie, on the scoreboard, in 2011 scrimmage game and it meant nothing to each team’s playoff seating and overall record. Stephenson was seated # 2 in last year playoff and finished 9-2 not 9-2-1, while Tucker was seated #1 and finished 15-0 not 15-0-1. Oh, I should also mention…TUCKER 2011 4A STATE CHAMPION.

It’s going to be just like a superbowl when Stephenson meets Tucker this year for the top spot in Region 6AAAAA and possibly the state championship winner will come from these 2 teams, don’t care who really win because I’m just one down right dekalb County super fan.. Let’s Go 6AAAAA. “ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL 6AAAAA THE SEC OF HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL IN GEORGIA…

@mge2011: I read on gahighschoolsports.net that someone picked Lowndes by 30 points or more. I agree, not going to be pretty for T-Ville.

Was at the Walton-Hillgrove scrimmage tonight. With my being an Alabama fan and with Walton having 2 players committed to Alabama in the 2013 Class….. I am thus a Walton fan. Just being honest, I was very disappointed in the way Walton’s key players performed tonight…..the team in general.

Possible Reasons:
-Not wanting injuries and hence not playing 100%
-Being that they open the season with 2 teams in the Preseason Top 10……perhaps they didn’t want to show their hand
-Perhaps the scholarship offers and the team’s 2011 Record has gotten to their head and they aren’t working as hard as they did last year

Whatever the reason, if the team I saw tonight is the Walton of 2012…… They will go 6-4 at best. I HOPE tonight was an aberration.

****Walton’s Offensive Coodinator needs to use the play-action pass on 1st and/or 2nd down and stop running Tyren Jones “every” 1st & 2nd down. If I know what play is coming before it is run…..with opponents scouting film for tendencies then I know the defense knows Tyren runs it every 1st & 2nd down and thus they stack the box with 9-10 defenders.

I also think Walton’s back-up QB, Price Wilson, should be their starter.

@Bama . . . I would agree that Walton was not as impressive, especially on offense, as one might have expected. I’m just hoping it was because of a stout, aggressive Hillgrove D. But hey, it was a scrimmage and I’m sure both coaches found lots to work on for the next week and a half. Really looking forward to the Battle of the Big Chicken at McEachern this year. What a great concept!

@JAB I don’t think your prayers will be answered this year. Maybe Tucker but definitely not Stepenson. Their window of a championship has closed. Their best chance was 2009 team! They have lost back to back region championship to MLK! Also lost first round in the playoff last 2 years. Let’s give them credit for having a outstanding recruitment team (coaches) in the state!!

@JAB – Man I can’t agree with you more, region 6 is going to give us DeKalb fans the up most in the phase “Friday Night Lights”. In late Sept and thru out Oct, the big CATS will find their way to the jungle (Hallford) as well as the attention of other 5A fans and the media. If the predications holds true, we fans of DeKalb HS football will have 4 very competitive playoff bound teams…I wouldn’t want to play region 6 #4 team in the first round, a strong possibility of sending a #1 seat home early. I too, I’m a DeKalb fan, hence my blog handle and tagline, and if Tucker isn’t crown the 2012 5A State Champion, you will find my support behind one of the other region POWERS.

DEKALB, WILL BE THE COUNTY TO BEAT IN 5A!!!

dekalbcounty1 I think you got it all wrong about Stephenson– Stephensom lost 7 to 6 last year and Touchdown to Hillgrove the year before, field goal to coffee in overtime. It’s not the athletes. Stephenson gets out coached every year in the playoffs in the states highest classification. I think the coaching at Stephenson is better suit for this level only if they review the tapes and come up with a coaching plan to match the opposing team defense. They need to stop trying to run the same plays during the regular season because most teams have them figured out when they get to the playoffs. Stephenson coaching staff had the best coaching game plan several years ago when they played Harrison in the playoffs and beat them. they line up in a four receiver set which they (Harrison had no defense against, it’s going to take plays like that if they plan to win a state championship this year; no doubt that they can play with any team toe to toe in the state of Georgia…

So JAB, are you saying Stephenson issues are mainly coaching? Just to keep in mind, there are some OUTSTANDING coaches and EXCELLENT football played in the classification that Stephenson finds itself for the 2012 season…it want be a walk over for the Jaguars. You have said it many times; Stephenson’s region contains some of 5A BIG DOGS and PROGRAMS. Other quality programs have moved up and down and found it to be a challenge, to obtain GA’s second highest classification state title.
