Appling County 6, Pierce County 4: Byron Buxton tossed a complete game in Game 3 of the Class AA championship series and struck out 18 while scoring twice to lead Appling County (35-8) to the state title. The host Pirates scored four runs off Pierce County (30-9) starter Will Lowman, chasing the Game 1 winner after recording just one out. Devin Causey and Kyle Miller each drove in a pair of runs and Jeremy Ammons scored twice for the Pirates. Pierce County’s Cole Dowling scored a run and drove in two.

35-3 record! We know yall dont care about these south teams, but be respectful of them and get your story right please. Congrats to both teams. 2AA Ball was the dominate region in baseball this year, Way to Go Pirates, Bears, and Herons. What a year to REMEMBER!2012 WOW!

35 – 3 is the correct ACHS Pirate record. And to think the AJC once covered “Dixie Like the Dew” now only covers the City of Atlanta. How the mighty have fallen. Yes, 2AA is the King of the Hill this year in 2- AA baseball; Pirates, Bears & Herons, best in the state.
