FPD takes Class A girls title to Macon

By Score Atlanta

First Presbyterian 1, Fellowship Christian 0: First Presbyterian (21-1) scored on a 35-yard shot with 15 minutes before halftime to edge Fellowship Christian (20-2) 1-0 and will take the GHSA Class A title back to Macon.

Paladins goalkeeper Abigail Freemeyer was credited with nine saves but it was Viking center-defenseman Kim-Caitlin Alderman that beat her late in the first half to give the Vikings the only goal Claire Crawford needed. The junior goalkeeper made 10 saves to secure the shutout win.

Josh Trieste’s program is now 40-0 with two titles against GHSA competition in its two years in Georgia High School Association play.

Interesting note is that the Fellowship Goalie (Freemyer) is a Freshmen and had never played goalie before being chosen to go in as the replacement for the Starting Goalie who was ejected in the Semi Final Game on Wed and resulting in an automatic suspension from the next game. Paladins — we are proud of you — you had a great year!!

Interesting note. The Paladin keeper did an awesome job and stopped all goals even a seasoned keeper could stop. Fellowship should be very proud of her. Congrats to FPD girls for keeping possession, keeping it on their attacking side for 75% of the game, for not giving up many shooting opportunities, and for some awesome saves by Claire Crawford. State Champs Back to Back is all that needs to be said.

Congrats to Emily Sonnett the 2012 Georgia high school all sport athelete of the year. She is an outstanding player and person! The game between FCA and FPD was great! These two schools have hard working outstanding players and produce outstanding teams each year. Their success glorifies God and shows Georgia can produce as good a soccer player and team as anywhere in the country!
