Appling County 5, Blessed Trinity 4, eight innings: Byron Buxton was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, a single and two runs – including the game-winner – for the host Pirates. Buxton also threw all eight innings, striking out eight and giving up four earned runs. Nathaniel Maggio hit a two-run homer for Blessed Trinity. Game 2 was rained out and will be played Wednesday.

Buford 6-14, Pierce County 8-2: The Bears and Wolves split the first two games, with Game 1 going to nine innings. Pitcher Sam Clay went six innings for Buford, striking out eight. Clay also had three hits (including a home run) and drove in a pair of runs. Pierce County capitalized on five errors committed by the Buford defense.

need to correct the Buford write-up….Sam Clay is the Buford pitcher that is GT bound…..S C hit a homer in the sixth and a single in the seventh to tie the game…….P C had one earned run in the first game as BHS committed five errors, but PC returned the favor in the second game with 5 errors.

Tony Wolf, coach of the year! BHS started the season 2-7 and is in one of the toughest regions in BB (6-AA). Was one game away from an undefeated region schedule and is in the quarterfinals. GO WOLVES!!

Them pierce county bears got it done.we beat the wolves 5 to 4 heading to the final 4. Way to go guys. Any one know who won out of calhoun and lovett

Congrats to Pierce County on a well -played series….we had our chances in the 1st,, 2nd, and 3rd innings with the bases loaded with Wolves but could only push across one run by a balk on the pitcher..Lovett better be ready and have their hitting shoes on…..

Thanks wolfbait you all have a very good baseball team and you all were great hosts from what i heard. Wish i could have been there!!!! You are right lovett better have them bats ready and they better hold on to their honey because they are coming to bearville goooooooo bears!!!!!

How about Region 2AA. Three teams, Appling Co., Pierce Co. and Brantley Co. in the AA Final 4. Never been done before. Shows how strong baseball is in the southeast part of the state……
