The Wolverines lost in the state quarterfinals last season. … Class AAAAA No. 1 Milton suffered its first defeat of the season on Tuesday when it lost on penalty kicks to St. Pius, the top-ranked team in Class AAA. The game was tied 2-2 before St. Pius won 5-3 on the PKs. Milton was coming off one of its biggest victories of the season, a 4-3 win over Roswell last week. The Eagles play fifth-ranked Centennial on Friday. … St. Pius, 10-0-1 going into Wednesday’s game against Starr’s Mill, had a victory and a tie at the Tournament of Champions in Jekyll Island last weekend. Amanda Vocelka had another big week for the Golden Lions, scoring with less than five minutes to play in a 2-2 tie against Auburn (Ala.) and getting the game-winner with less than three minutes remaining to beat Spain Park (Ala.) 1-0. … Class AA No. 1 Greater Atlanta Christian improved to 10-0 with a 4-0 victory over Decatur on Tuesday.
