Westlake hires Pritchett as football coach

Westlake introduced North Atlanta’s Stanley Pritchett as its new head football coach Tuesday evening.

Pritchett, a former Falcons player, was 2-7 in one season at North Atlanta and was 19-12 in three at Washington.

“Stanley Pritchett is a role model that can stand in front of our kids,’’ Westlake principal Grant Rivera said. “We spoke with a long-time coach who attends a church in north metro Atlanta and asked him about Coach Pritchett. He said that he hears something good about Coach Pritchett almost every Sunday, how he is impacting the lives of kids in that community and how he is a role model to them. That speaks volumes about his character and leadership.

Pritchett replaces Greg Minnis, who resigned after a 4-6 finish. Minnis was 20-21 in four seasons. Westlake last won a playoff game in 2005.

its not about the kids but just about him!!! his success came from branden smith and a team he was given from Coach Rodney Cofield at Washington high school and he moves around so easy because his dad know people and family connection which is sad because its not good for the kids because YOU PLAYING NFL DOESN’T MAKE YOU A GOOD HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACH AND YOU WILL GET YOURS USING THESE KIDS AS YOUR STEPPING STONE AND WHAT YOU DOING AIN’T COACHING……… SO SAD BUT SO TRUE….. THOUGHT YOU WAS WAY BETTER THEN THAT

The real question is why is it that North Atlanta cant keep a football coach. Since 2006 North Atlanta has had 6 head football coaches (they named one during the spring of 2007, only to get fired by the new principal), and now a 7th will be announced. What’s wrong with the athletic structure where the football coaches (and other coaches for that matter) can’t, or rather DON’T WANT TO stay at North Atlanta?

Amazing how a schedule can cause such fear. Does a terrible job of coaching, and abandons kids once they begin to put love and trust in them. His ultimate goal has to be college, but they won’t fall for lack of knowledge. Stephenson, Mays, Tucker, MLK, SWD to name a few. What happen to the challenge of coaching against competition. You go to The Lake, maybe make playoffs in weak region and bamboozle fans into thinking you can coach. Just like N.Atl, the principal gets what he deserves.

This is what Westlake wasted three months on to hire this guy he is a horrible coach. So was Minnis but geesh give these kids waht they deserve a REAL coach not a wanna be that hops from school to school. Remeber N. Atlanta was a 6-4 team before he came then they went 2-7 WTH!!. I done Westlake’s powers that be desreve whatever they have coming be it good or bad. This clearly was not the best guy for the job. Resue wise or any other reasons. See you in two more years. As for the Pricinpal he could care less heard he is has one foot out the door looking to get a promotion in another county, SMH!

As of yesterday the Football players of Cedar Grove High School were told in a team meeting by the head coach that we would be having tryouts for quarterbacks. Soooo, it seems that Jonathan McCrary is on the market to be recruited. Although he single handedlly turned us around, we will be more than happy to let you all have him and his father immediately. Remember though, “there is no I in Team”. Don’t for get we have tryouts next week for quarterbacks,

I shouldn’t even dignify that with an answer, but I will indulge you anyway “PW”. Mad is when I can’t pay my bills, car has stopped, child is doing wrong or leaving my cell phone at home. Not the McCrary’s leaving. If you “are” at Westlake, by your judging of this free handout or should I say free information, they should fit right in, “PW”.

Congratulations on your new position. I hope that you will prove all these nay sayers wrong. Even better than that, I hope that you don’t even bother to read these blogs because most of this negativity comes from people who don’t have a clue about coaching. Good luck and have a great year.

The biggest problem Coach Prichett will have is all the parents in that area. Everyone knows all football and their child was great at Welcome All, Sandtown and BenHill. Stop spoiling the kids and teach them toughness. Soft teams don’t win state. Soft parents either. Good luck with this group. Now if it angers you, boom! It applies to you. Sorry.

Amen to the WIzard!
@Shayla If you have an individual that believes he is bigger than the TEAM than you might be better off without him. Last I checked football is played with 11 players from your TEAM against the other TEAM. You can be a great QB as long as there is someone to block for you and catch for.

I truly feel Pritchett is a below average coach at best Right NOW…playing n the NFL does not mean u know how to coach I mean his Offense is so Vanilla..if he doesnt change Westlake will go 2 -7 as well..lol…but players make coaches …not the other way around…he def had sum talent at washington but no $$ or Discipline to help get over the hump…at North Atl he had the $$ but no real talent ( except the one kid he stole from washington and he got hurt)…he will have surpar talent at Westlake….they are not the Westlake of “old” tha’ts why Minnis left and the fact he had a CLUELESS principal of course…otherwise Minnis would have stayed…. so this will be the best judge of his true coaching ability…he will have the best of the best in south fulton…westlake has always been a school built on recruiting…some of the best metro kids flock to westlake…never understood why ??/ but they do..and since Pritchett showed he can recruit…with some the players he brought over to N Atl and Washington…he should rack up at Westlake…so he really will have no excuses this time… SO ONLY TIME WILL TELL!!! but he was wrong for selling those kids at North atl a dream then leaving ,,, might i add…but $H** happens so get over i…t NA!!! LOL…he will reap what he sows…but i wander what kids will try to follow him to westlake…???

@ wizard Din’t get it twisted the player at WAP & Sandtown are not the same player as Ben Hill .

@ SHAyla S are you saying Mccrary coming to THE LAKE.

@ biggest problem…. you got it twisted …. it was time for Minnis to leave … he had to leave,
he was f-ing up the football team. The principal is clueless and jerk and, cover up the Black girl getting rape at Campbell 2 years ago. Minnis cause 5 of GA top 150 to leave THE LAKE for Alpharetta. Not to talk about how he help stack Creekside for 2014-15 with The Lake talent because he is GAR’ BAGE at coaching…( he was worst that Rambo at THERRELL)

@ Swats Swanga
News flash: That program was declining before Minnis took over the talent wasn’t there as many of you wanna believe. They we’re 5-5 the year before he took over and yes that was CAM’s SENIOR YEAR. After M.Talyor’s class was gone the talent went down. Also get other facts straight, player went to sandy creek was facing trouble at Westlake. Players went to Alpharetta, One was a backup RB who’s father understandably wanted to get his son a better shot at being the feature back other player @ Alpharetta father upset because was not allowed on staff (criminal record). Truth is the program is not what everyone thinks. No State titles, Only 2 Region titles (3A, 4A) (none in 5A) Never been past the 2nd round of playoff. The only problem with Westlake is all the Championship coaches in the stands. BTW How many have you WON?????? The problem with the program even now is the negativity that spread in the streets just like all the bashing coach Pritchett is getting before he has coached a game there. Your right Who is gonna wanna bring their kid there when all that is heard is negativity about the program from people not involved in the day to day process..

@CINDY…. THIS DON’T HAVE A THING TO DO WITH COACHING ITS REALLY WHO THIS GUY HAVE SHOWN HIS SELF TO BE AS A PERSON…… HIS COACHING SHOWS ON PAPER WHO HE IS AS A PERSON SHOWS IN HOW HE UP A LEAVE THESE KIDS WITH NO REMORSE….. PUT YOUR CHILD IN THESE SITUATIONS AND LET ME SEE HOW MUCH CONGRATULATIONS U GIVE THEN….. BUT ITS COOL I KNOW U JUST TRYING TO BE A FRIEND TO HIM BUT TO EACH ITS OWN..

We don’t care where he(McCrary) goes just take his “team destruction” father with him. Every where he has gone he has caused problems, even with his older son, who had to go to 5-6 different schools because of his father’s ways, which over shadows his sons’ great talents. Now people tell us. His own brother did not want him at Columbia High School because of his messy ways. Well you live and learn. I’ll be gone in 3 years, hopefully YOU All don’t get his grands. Just remember every thing that glitters is not gold!

MLK doesn’t need McCrary at all….. They have some young studs at the qb position. No need for the headache.
