Westover did alot of talking before this game. Were ranked #2 in the state for most of the year. Still lost by double figures. Looking forward to the girls match up betwenn WACO and Columbia if it happens should be a very good game. FYI the Gray kid is the real deal i have seen both Buford and Norcoss play several times this year. think she is better than the Davis kid and as good if not better than Deshields. She does a lot more than just score.

Why doesn’t the AJC have a recap of the Columbia Lady Eagles game from last night. They demolished Oconee County 66-32 last night and they are well on their way to a highly anticipated rematch with Washington County in the Championship game this year after giving the game away to them last year in the semifinals……..

Allisha is better than both Davis and Deshields. Those two are only “better” than Allisha because of their family name. If Dr. Gray would have been a professional athlete than his daughter would get just as much national recognition as the Davis and Deshields kids does. Let’s be honest for a second, if Gray does not win Miss GA Basketball it is because the voters are from Atlanta and are being bias against a small town kid.

Its looking like the 2 best teams in Girls AAA are Washington County and Columbia HS..Having watched Columbia and WACO both play. I can say if that game happens it woulf be a good game! I think Columbia is the deeper team and can wear teams down with their pressure and team play, I think WACO has the best individual player in AAA, who can and on most nights does win games almost by herself. The difference is WACO has one player who averages 29 ppg while Columbia has 4 players who average 14 ppg.. Both teams press well,, but Columbia can have a key player foul out and still maintain a high level of play, WACO can not afford to take Gray out the game for any reason.. foul trouble, injury could determin the outcome..should be interesting. both teams average a lot of points of the press. WACO gets a lot of press, but Columbia is a sleeping giant staying under the radar..

I hear WACO struggled vs Westover what happened? But I hear Columbia Destroyed Oconee County.. You know what, come to think of it, you really don’t hear a lot about Columibia’s girls team. You hear about the boys team all the time, but why are they so under the radar? I think you have to be from WACO if you think Alisha Gray is better than Diamond DeShields,Thatshicraze! come on now..lets get for real.

The reason why they stopped talking about Columbia girls is because that is all they talked about last year during this time and stated how they will win another championship and guess what… they were WRONG! They don’t want to make the same mistake again. @C.J. FYI: check this hoopgurlz’ website out. Gray was AAA player of the year last year, and Avg. 32ppg and 8reb. she wouldn’t be the 1st player not to win state and be named player of the year. who else could win? DeShields missed like 10 games this year and Davis doesn’t have the #’s. I think she wins if they take state or not.

This is sad.. I can appreciate the passion in which the fans from WACO support their team, But If she doesn’t win state this year, I am confused as to how she should be Ms. Ga Basketball? At that point you can pick anyone. Yeah she is putting up big numbers, but considering she is on poor team in a weak region are we surprised? If you put DeShields on that same team she would do the same thing, same with Davis.. And for the record their are lots of girls who are highly recruited that could easily be Ms. Ga Basketball..what about Lexie Brown – N.Gwinett, Jasmine Jenkins @e-hall, Brea Mcdonald at Chamblee . Gray is a good choice, but not enough people have seen her play, plus her numbers are fake considering she hasn’t put them up vs ANY legit competition! No one is going to vote for her scoring 29 points vs weak central or south Ga regional competition. Now if WACO played Buford or Norcross or McEachern and she scored 29 points then you might be doing something. you might can make a case for Ms.Ga BBall!!! but 29pts vs Cross Creek? Come on really? Really how are you bragging about that? Who couldn’t average 30 points agianst the teams she is playing? She might be the best thing considering wher she lives.. but in the big city, she is just another guard..really enough already!lol

Westover has a great team. But playing a Great Team at Home hurt the Lady Pats. If the game was at a neutral site may have been a smaller range out come. This game was not going to be a blow out. WACO has beaten up on teams but 00 Dunson for Westover was not going to let that happen. Westover not only lost 3 Junior players (2 Starters) from last year team, they also start 2 sophomores and a junior. The Lady Pat will be back in 2013. BTW Gray is better than Desheilds. She is taller and left hand with the same skill set as Desheilds I pick Gray

Sooooo are you saying that if DeShields and Davis played in that region, in classAAA they wouldn’t average the same amount of points? Who doesn’t play elite AAU ball these days? Its just a big deal for her because she lives in Washington Co!!! The AAU team she plays for is called the METRO’s imagine that! lol Look lets be real here Class AAA is not the toughest class in Ga basketball and the teams get worst the further south you go from Metro atlanta, whats good in South Ga is not the same in Metro Atlanta. I have seen both girls play and i’m pretty sure there aren’t very many college coaches who would take Alisha over Diamond! look i’m not bashing the girl..she is a quality player, Univ of Ga got a great players..

Buford plays AA ball. I want count her games against top out of state teams just in AA Davis hasn’t put up big #’s. you have never seen Gray play I am sure of it, and to correct you I never said she was better than Diamond i said just as good and better than Davis. Your metro Atl bias will not allow you to give her the credit she deserves and it’s sad. FYI I live here in Atlanta I just watch a lot of high school ball and call it how I see it without the bias. As for her AAU team it’s name maybe Metros but they have a lot of kids from s. ga including Dunson from Westover.

How am I any more biased than WACOFAN orWCHS or anyone else on this blog? I Said she is a good player. But lets just be Real..FACTS not OPINIONS..Fact is DeShields may not put up 30 ppg, but she is on a better TEAM.., she doesn’t have to put those numbers up for her team to win, FACT..the numbers she does put up are agianst much better TEAMS 5A teams, not to mention nationaly ranked teams from outside Ga. OPINION- 5A is the toughest class in Ga basketball. Now talking about The Davis girl..The same thing applies..Both of these girls actually play with other girls who will play D-1 basketball when they graduate, so they don’t have to score 39 ppg in order for their teams to win. They have team mates who have some skills and not to mention AA is the second toughest Class in Ga..(opinion) both girls play in tougher classes and Regions agianst MUCH better competition every night! Gray might be the only girl who playes college basketball outside WACO, ain’t no coaches visiting WACO to see her team mates, do any of them play for the METRO’s? Her team mates wouldn’t get picked for a middle school all star game.. She gotta score 39 points or they would get blasted(fact), but that don’t mean she is any better. Listen 15 points vs Legit teams is worth more than 29 points vs weak competition(OPINION) but . Another FACT last year alisha won player of the year for AAA for the SOUTH only..I give alisha Gray props she is a solid player, but her team has not played any of the top schools in the state of Ga..So its hard to say that she is all that, Who has she really played? To this point her toughest competition has been vs the guard and team from Westover, and to her credit she won.

I don’t know CJ there is not much seperation in 5A and 4A if any at all. Miller Grove and SWD are 4A but could beat most if not all 5A teams and throw in 3A Columbia who just might be the best team in GA. Basketball has changed with AAU every player on the team is at worst “pretty good”. It’s so hard to argue who’s better unless they play one on one. Different teams are better matchups for certain teams but in the end it’s all good for us fans we get to see great games.

Check you facts cj Alisha Gray was player of the year in AAA for the AJC. I never seen the end of the year all state teams split into north and south. It’s All STATE not area. I don’t see what you are basing the AA is better than AAA stuff on. WACO has won state in ever sport James J won a state title in girls basketball befor Alisha Gray and there boys won a couple of titles as well. My point is there a good team not better than some of the teams in A top heavy Metro ATL but better than quite a few. You do understand to win state you have to beat teams from north and south ga.

G-dup what I am saying is Over all.. If we held a tournament at the end of the season and called it the king and Queen of Georgia and said the State champs from all 5 classes played each other.. Do you think the A state champs would beat the 5A state champs? or would the 2AA champs beat 4A champs? but I’m pretty sure all the state champs from last year would beat WACO who would they actually beat? ..what I am saying is at the end the toughest classes would be 5A for girls and (4A Miller Grove vs 3A Columbia) boys and I agree that Columbia is the Best boys teams regardless of Class this year. Do you really think WACO would beat 1A-Wesylan 2A- Buford 4A champs-Fayette co or 5A-Norcross?? I’m sure Columbia boys could beat any boys state champs. I don’t think WACO would have beat them last year, and they wouldn’t beat them this year either. Bottom line is they wouldn’t even play those games.. I would like to see WACO play some of these teams..I guess the only reason these metro teams win is because they recruited all their players? And guess what? No South Georgia Teams on that list, South GA wants respect but for what? you haven’t done anything..nothing at all!! Now whats funny is during football season you don’t hear Metro teams complaining about the advantage of having the entire town attending one school!lol as long as they win. No respect for being SCARED! I can Give Columbia girls props..they at least played 2 out of the 5 state champs from last year, even thou they lost they at least played them..while WACO was busy bragging about a 50 game winning streak.. vs a bunch of nobodies!

I don’t understand your entire argument how many top ranked AA teams did Buford beat less than the top ranked AAA teams WACO did your argument about who they played doesn’t hold up there region is the toughest in the state for AAA based on state tournament results. How are they scared they play teams in Macon, Albany and Augusta during the summer and they do compete against metro teams at camp. You cant play games your not offered to play. There not in ATL so why would ther schedule be full of Atl teams? They have won 61 straight and a state title to say they suck is just silly. They are one of the two best teams in AAA period.

Allisha Gray is a great player but she is no Diamond Deshields. I have seen them both and Diamond is much better. WACO does not play teams with 5 or 6 top D1 players and that makes a difference. They hardly play teams with one D1 player. Well, she will be on the South team for the Jr all star game. Watch that game and see how she match up against Diamond and Kayla. WACO has a great coach who gets the best out his girls and that can make a difference. He is the best girls coach in the middle ga and south ga. area. Ms. Georgia should go to a player with a tough schedule and better competition….I am sure if Diamond was on a team like WACO and playing against teams that WACO play, she wil probably score 40 or 50 a night…..
