Class AAAA roundup

Cedar Shoals 66, Sequoyah 62: Visiting Sequoyah outscored Cedar Shoals 39-32 in the second half, but the Jaguars held on thanks to Kevon Scott. The Cedar Shoals point guard went 11-for-12 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter and scored 27 points total.

Chattahoochee 66, Salem 46: A stifling full-court press helped the Cougars limit Salem to six points in the fourth quarter. Point guard Jaron Blossomgame, a Clemson signee, scored 19 for Chattahoochee. Markus Terry and Trey Archambeau each added 15 for the Cougars.

Loganville 73, Creekview 59: The Red Devils used their home-court advantage in outscoring Creekview 16-4 during the third quarter. Three players scored six points each for Loganville in the pivotal quarter, including point guard Kyle Baker who notched a game-high 23.

Rockdale Co. 77, Woodland-Cartersville 73: The visiting Bulldogs led 20-12 after the first quarter and held off a late rally to defeat Woodland. Laronta Parks, C. J. Wilson and Darius Mitchell each scored 20 points for Rockdale. R. J. Williams scored 24 and Corey Tobin added 19 for Woodland.

Southwest DeKalb 70 Osborne 58: The visiting Cardinals led 53-49 going into the final quarter, but power forward Shaq Goodwin scored 13 of his game-high 32 points to help Southwest DeKalb advance. Guard Jordan Price added 13 points for the Panthers.

Props to Marist for representing Region 6 and taking down #1seed Lithia Springs. Lithia Springs got after it with their press but couldn’t hit the ocean from outside and Marist snipers were on.

Miller Grove vs SWD in the finals! That would be great!

No mention of the Wildcats of Lovejoy as they have already knocked off the team that eliminated them last year and the No. 3 team in the State in Fayette County. That loss last year was in the Elite Eight and I trust they are as hungry as the football team was. Let’s hope for a deep run and make Gwinnett our Destination of Choice for the Finals

SWD will be hard to beat if Shaq Goodwin continues to be a force inside 32pts, 20+ rebs, 5 blks vs Osborne. He has to be the focal point and the other players including J Price take a roll on the team. When Shaq gets doubled in the post, then the others can score off of him (inside – out).

sportsnut: Lovejoy is dangerous, but man Fayette Co was very overrated. Alcovy gave them the business last weekend and from what I saw, they didn’t look like state champ material. Lovejoy looks like they could go on a run but don’t sleep on Liberty Co. like NSWR did

If Douglas Co can keep their heads v ‘Hoochie, this week, a match-up with SWD could be a great game Sat

Too bad there were so many teams that were top rated playing each other in the 1st round. The toournament suffers when it’s not seeded

Douglas County Boys have a nice team but if there bigs get in foul trouble plus they have no shooters they will be in trouble. Whatever the Hoochie plans are if they press Douglas County
they might get ran out the gym. Douglas County is not Salem but alot better.

@ Chris == I was only refering to the above subject matter. Lovejoy has been ranked all year and I have no problem with recognition for this team. They lost to Fayette County last year in the Elite Eight and felt like they should have won if not for mental mistakes. They are back and I like what I see . @ C-town == You can rest assured that they will not sleep on Liberty Co. All the teams left at this point are here for a reason. If Jermaine, the point, can have a good game, the Wildcat’s have a shot at moving on. @ Chris == Fayette beat them by 20 in that game last year so you know it was a sweet victory.
