Congratulations to Grayson, both for your national rankings and for winning the trophey last Saturday. The same for all trophey winners. Grayson survived some big challenges, including the battle with Brookwood and Colquitt, either of which could have gone the other way, and defeated Lowndes in a thrilling 25 to 17 second round game. Calhoun winning was a good surprise! They deserved it!
My biggest surprise of the season was Stephenson and how they ended up. We heard all year from sports writers, pollsters, and bloggers who went on and on and on about all their Division 1 recruits, and they absolutely did nothing against Lowndes. Then to top it off, only placed two players on the All Dekalb offense and 4 on the All Dekalb defense. Oh well, same old story every year.
I also thought Northside and Camden would have won titles this year, and I thought McEachern would have done better. Just goes to show why I’m not a sports writer – or coach!
Merry Christmas to FRED, YO, Lowndes 96, Viking 68, Sportsfan31313, grayram, ENR, Reeze, Quinn of the Ridge, and all my blogging pals, and I hope you all have a safe and happy New Year! See you guys next year!

@ Aviking Fan. Merry Christmas to you too. Have enjoyed reading some of your posts. I just have to say this….some consideration should be given to the Stephenson/MLK for how well they did against teams out of their classification (since these two schools played-up; looking at whole scheme of things). I was a little surpised looking at their competitors in comparison to size. However, I don’t want to take anything away from all the State Winners. Congrats to Grayson, Tucker and all who made it to the Dome. Well done.

Hey AVikingFan it gets down to coaching with most schools in Dekalb Co. Schools. Stephenson coaching is horrible, MLK is good , Tucker’s is outstanding! They use their best players at all times. Tucker’s qb was playing safety in the championship game.

I wanted to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone as well. Although I am a Brookwood fan, I must say congrats to Grayson. You beat my broncos and an impressive Walton team. Rams had a great year and I even hate to admit that I loved the videos that Grayson made. Very professionally done. AVikingFan you showed much class in your comments. Good luck next year. I try to be respectful to all fellow football fans. We have great teams here in Metro Atlanta and in South Georgia. Sometimes I feel that Georgia football doesn’t get enough respect cause our teams are so competitive that no one dominants compared to other states where the same team wins almost every year. Congrats to Tucker and Calhoun (defeating a great Buford team). I pray that everyone has a safe and blessed 2012.

Just my opinion and I think many would agree…….Camden beats all these teams no questions asked. Already beat Colquitt and yes I am dead serious. All who were there that night, knows exactly what happened.

@AVikingFan, Brookwood1000, grayram – Merry Christmas! I enjoyed chatting with y’all this year. See you back here in August.
@Elementary My Dear Watson – Yes, we know that you cannot accept that you lost to Colquitt. Good luck next year in region 1. See you in the fall!

If you thought the refs were bad in the playoffs, just wait until you get a taste of the home cooking that occurs in the regular season. Have fun at Lowndes, Valdosta and Colquitt!!!
