@ A Person Smart…..who cares if he said that about a black coach winning back to back, every commentator makes a mistake during broadcast, even NFL….it seems like it bothers you on more than one level to keep harping on it…..the Tucker coach deserves some shine for winning 2 titles period.

@elementary….. – your comments might be better if they were grounded in reallity! You made a prediction about a game that can’t happen as your team has been out of the playoffs fot 2 weeks.

@wake up – we are all awake and enjoying the playoffs. NSWR is out so I guess they weren’t the best this year.

Go RAMS!!!! I don’t know if we will win but I know we can! I hear a tailgate and championship game calling my name…..

Someone please tell the announcer that 1st and goal is when you have a 1st down inside the 10 yard line. Not when ball is outside10 yard line.

@Fred Northside is without a doubt the best team in the State Tuckers win over them was a gift and I give them credit for the victory but to say they are better no way. They know it Northside dominated them and would again and again. I do give them congrats on winning the state and hope we will see them again next year.

@wakeup, You my friend are dillusional. Great “rebuilding” year for the Champion Tigers. I am so proud of thise young men who did on the field, the coaches who prepared & kept the team focussed on the prize, and all of the Tucker fans who showed the class in supporting our Tigers this year. Congratulations to Tucker for winning the 4A championship. I was at the Northside-Tucker game and it was obvious that NS beat Tucker in everything but the score. The second half belonged to NS. Tucker’s offense never showed up. Thirty-eight yards of offense! NS was beaten by a fluke play. Tucker won the game but they didn’t beat NS, NS beat themselves. But that’s football. Tucker is the champ.

I appreciate GPTV doing the games, but they are making circus out of them. They ask those embarrassing questions or at least the participants looked embarrassed. You have a great event, you don’t need to add anything else. The sideline reporters just need to report.

Coach Franklin seems to be one heck of a coach that carries himself very well and it shows in the play of his team. Tired of hearing his color brought up.

It is a great day in T-Town!!!!!!! Another State Championship!!!!

364 days of taunting those narcissistic NSWR bloggers! (Right, @Wake Up?) Oh how it will burn in them for years! Just can’t accept it. “THE FUMBLE!! WE WERE BETTER!! LOOK AT THE STATS!!AT THE MAC!! A TEAM FROM UP NORTH??!!”

TUCKER HAS WON TWO STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS SINCE THE GOOD OLD DAYS AT NSWR!

Your team lost. Tucker won. Glad Tucker could ruin your Saturday morning.

Any poster who comes on here and says Northside was better is an idiot. Tucker beat Northside one week ago, and that’s it. Don’t have to guess who is better — the team with more points was better. Period. Anything else is make believe “if that didn’t happen” garbage. Grow up and move on.

Even though it is public TV, there is no excuse for having poor commentators doing the broadcast. Gil and the coach were terrible, the only one that made since was Trey. Im hoping that they give him more of an opportunity today, he is the only one doing his homework on the teams and individual players.

I am amazed and saddened at the overwhelming amount of Buford hate around the state. That was a great game last night to which Calhoun deserved to win. However, I don’t think all the venom is necessary.

My family moved to Buford years ago because we saw a community where the children and education are valued. Yes, they put a huge emphasis on the sports but there is a lot more to Buford than our football team. Because we have been successful in many areas, people like to hurl all kinds of accusations of “cheating”, “recruiting”, and so on. The truth is that we have a community that has found great coaches for our teams who are great advisors and examples for our kids. They continually remain humble and thankful to the parents and community for support. To folks who live in the community, our schools remain a focus and our kids success is always a priority.

Last night was a classic game that Calhoun fans will never want to forget. Buford folks remember our ‘78 championship like it was last week and our 2001 game over Bowdon like it was yesterday. Our fans would argue that the refs blew a couple of huge calls against us and that injuries to key players were a huge factor in last night’s game, but our fumbles and Calhoun’s mistake free play won them a very deserved trophy. As I told some of their very polite fans last night at the Varsity, “If it wasn’t for Buford, Calhoun would be the most hated team in the state.” Guess now they have earned that right. (unfortunately)

Buford- your run is over! There is, and will continue to be, a new king in AA! Look for the jackets to be back next year. It was a little more exciting at the end than it should have been, but the best team prevailed in the end. Go Jackets!

@Northside crybabies… and there are only a few. Who’s holding the trophy? I suppose you were the best team in the state last year, too… and all the other years you didn’t win. Show some class. The best team in the state doesn’t fumble away the ball when it has a chance to close the deal. The best team in the state is last one standing… and that’s Tucker.

Friday nights- It will never happen, but would lovvvvvvee to see any of the other class champs line up against either Buford or Calhoun. Higher the class does not necessarily mean better teams or talent. Its as meaningless an aurgument as the BCS, but it is fun to argue. Buford is as big or bigger than any other team, and Calhoun is as fast or faster. Tucker, Grayson, whoever….bring them on.

Don’t believe for a minute that Calhoun doesn’t recruit, etc. (Derrick Rogers) just like Buford. If Calhoun published their roster with players addresses, half or more of them would be from outside of their district. So, enjoy the win, just don’t pretend you did it with home grown talent. And, they must be teaching the that fuzzy math at Calhoun because they had to have used it to stay in 2A when at least one of the other schools in Gordon County that moved to 3A was no bigger than they were.

You people challenging Buford and others to come play with the “BIG BOYS” do realize that Buford would have double the number of students to chose from than they do now to qualify for the top classification unless you want a “gimme” against a smaller school.Get over it each class has its competetion and outstanding players-there are benefits to not having 600 students in your graduating class. And no I am not a Buford fan.

The Buford people always running their mouths about being the best no matter what classification. If they played in 4a or 5a they would play teams as good or better than Calhoun 7 or 8 times a year just in their region. I thought they had all of these great players, but hell, a ton of their players played both ways. Coach, you shouldn’t have kept giving the ball to #32 he was playing the whole game, he looked real tired in the 3rd quarter. It’s easy to coach when you play inferior teams evey week. What a joke.

Nobody cares outside about the A or AA playoffs.

The only positive that comes out of these two games are that at least they are competing against schools that have the same rules so it is fair to them in this game. Those public school kids that have been knocked out are the ones that were screwed.

How many different QB’s has Calhoun had in the last 4 or 5 years? Luck up with the Darlington transfers, lucked up with the Lamb kid moving in because of his dad getting the Mercer job. Not saying they recruit but they have benefitted from different situations and when you have as many schools withing a 30 mile radius and the population you are going to reload everyyear. That is where the rural schools are at a disadvantage. But who said life is fair. Schools like Tucker, Calhoun, and Buford should be in the Finals every year with the talent they get.

Got to the Dome last night in the 3rd Qtr of the BUFORD / CALHOUN game…came in on the BUFORD side so ended up sitting there…great spot on the 50yrd line! CALHOUN had taken advantage of turnovers and played a solid game to that point…looked like it was over BUT then the miracle happenned and in less than two minutes the game was tied and into overtime…

TUCKER folks were milling around behind us ready to get started when the overtime ended barely as it began and CALHOUN had their win! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

One more comment of the BUFORD / CALHOUN game they had BOTH brought good support and had loud fans cheering in both the lower and second levels…I say this because…

In the TUCKER / LOVEJOY game TUCKER had a nice size group BUT nowhere near the way BUFORD packed it in and the LOVEJOY side was a ghost town!!! Someone needs to tell CLAYTON Cty. they had a team playing at the dome in a CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!!

This was TUCKERS night from the start…they DOMINATED!!! Very fast group, once they got in the open or around the corners it was OVER they ran over and thru LOVEJOY all night!!!

I DO NOT see how LOVEJOY beat WARNER ROBINS to get to this game…this makes me even more dissapointed in the EAST / WARNER ROBINS game, if EAST PAULDING had beat WARNER ROBINS they would have destroyed this LOVEJOY team!!! They may not have beat TUCKER last night BUT it would have been a much closer game than what we saw with LOVEJOY!

Oh well…Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda…

All year the TUCKER folks have been on here talking about how they are a complete team and from the start have confidently said how they would win out for State! Last night in the dome they proved they were as advertised and that they indeed COULD beat the BEST the other teams threw at them!

GOOD JOB and CONGRATULATIONS TUCKER TIGERS!!!

a few thoughts on last nights games Calhoun almost gave it back found there composure and won it in OT great game…Tucker simply outmatched Lovejoy… but one thing I notied most of the Tucker starters were Seniors they have played on that stage and were prepared by a tremendous coach.. they will be losing a lot of players next year… repeat may not be as likely… Lovejoy seemed to have more underclassmen and a majority of their team was Juniors Lovejoy moves up to 6A they will be favored to play for their region championship…They were not ready for the big stage they should have opened up their offense in the first half… the Tucker team keyed on their #22 RB and took him away.. there strength was the short passes they will move up to the bigger stage next year we will see if they can make a run up there… looking forward to tonight… I would like to see Grayson get theirs…

Best coaching job in the state of Ga. was by the Prince Ave. Staff. They played the SC Raiders in the Semis and were not nearly as talented as the Raiders. Nothing against their team but how did they beat Charlton Co? Must have been great coaching and kids listening and being disciplined. That is the kind of team I like to watch.

Sounds like Obama and other politicians on here.

Just tell the truth. The A and AA private and city schools recruit like hell.

They have ruined what high school sports should be about. They don’t build their kids and programs up and teach work ethic. They take the college and pro way of going out and buying what they need.

Private and city schools are the big market Yankees and Angels while the public schools are the small market Marlins and Pirates.

This attitude is a cancer in our society. Whats worse is that now you have schools and people who used to never consider cheating that now are getting real close to crossing the line. Still doesn’t justify it though.

NO call…..I could go on and on ,but in the end The BEST team did win finally.I am glad to see at least 2 Buford folk come on here and give Calhoun its due, even though the BAD CALL thing gets throwed in.Thank you…To the Calhoun Gordon Co.local..Your an Idiot, and I doubt a Calhoun or Gordon Co/local…Ive coached most of those kids on Calhouns team in little leauge baseball so whats your next lie peckerwood??

The GHSA has let this get out of hand and if they had the guts to even try to fix it now I’m not sure they could. In fact, I know the bunch that is there now couldn’t.

This is a A and AA problem for the most part right now b/c those are the easiest classifications that a few recruits can make “the” difference in winning games and championships.

It isn’t the right solution but part of me wishes they would just do away with any rule that limits mobility from school to school. Everyone on the same page and playing by the same rules. What an idea!

Just my opinion but isnt recruting when a plaer is enticed or rewarded to go to a particular school?I think the vast majority of transfers are done legally under existing policies such as the city schools allowing tuition students from the county. It looks like most transfers are players who want to play with a proven winner rather than being loyal to the teammates he grew up with.As far as private schools recruiting-I dont pretend to know the rules but if athletes are on scolarship this would be a cause for major action.Does anyone know?
