Centennial football coach Measor resigns; replacement sought by end of year

Centennial High in Roswell hopes to have a new head football coach in place by the end of the year, says athletics director Phil Thomas. Head coach Jeff Measor has resigned to focus on finishing his doctorate.

Measor 24-28 in five seasons and 5-6 in 2011, when Centennial made the playoffs this season for only the second time since 2002. Centennial opened in 1997.

“We had some success, but it’s reached a saturation point where I’ve done all I can here and it’s time to move on,’’ Measor said.

Thomas said the school will take applications through Dec. 10 and begin interviewing Dec. 19.

Measor, who had been offensive coordinator at Coffee High in south Georgia before taking the Centennial job, is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership. He says he has a year of study remaining and wanted to give fuller attention to it.

Huh? What does this mean?

@ WarEagle

I view that comment Measor made as meaning “I am a wak coach and I am not capable of pushing my team over a hump to achieve long term success.”

About time, he didn’t look like he was interested anyway. Would see him walk up and down the sidelines by himself, without yelling no instructions to the kids Horrible decision making. Had at least 3 games in hand and let it get away by not sticking to what gave him the lead. It was almost predictable what he was going to do. Good ridance, hopefully Centennial will go out and get a real coach instead of these knuckleheads from the pop warner leagues. A coach that’ll recruit from the hallways, where a lot of talent was left behind, a coach that had about 60-70 players and played maybe 25 the whole game.

We are disappointed to see Coach Measor go and wish him nothing but the best. My son was fortunate to be coached by him for four years and he learned a lot.
