WTF with the Parking fees? What does the GHSA hve to say about that! Does every school charge to park on county property? Does that revenue go back to the County or in the hands of the booster clubs?

I think it’s just the Fulton County schools that do that. At least those are the only ones we encounter. Actually, Cherokee HS charged $2.00 to park. Really makes me mad but I think the money goes directly to the booster clubs. Really unfair to the teenagers who want to come to the game.

You pay to park only if the schools have it’s own stadium. Only County public stadiums don’t charge.

Well, Tift County’s misery continues but at least it’s over for this season. I think I hear the moving truck backing into Jay Walls’ drive now. It’s about time. The last three seasons at 2-8, 5-5 & 3-7 are reason enough. Poor coaching, poor discipline & unhappy players. Let’s hope Big Blue Nation has something to cheer about going forward.

You have an error here…. should read “Joseph Wilber finished 12-of-15″ not Joesph Tolbert.

Thanks for the great blog!

@ Luella. It must have been westlake. It is a disgrace that these schools charge to park and GHSA should not allow it. Not only did Westlake charge the $3 to park, but they charged me $7 for students. Did you encounter that? They even charged me for a 4year old. Same at Newton. Newton charged $7 for students. They had free parking, but they did have what they called VIP parking for $5 dollars. So unfair..

It was Westlake and we were told that it goes to the football team. @Did I Say That?: They do not charge everywhere, at least not in Henry County. @Response: we did not encounter the $7 for students, just adults. That is a crock that they charged for a 4 year old. GHSA needs to be told this is going on.

Cats vs Pack in Death Valley. Reminds me of the atmosphere when Pack played Valdosta in the Hogpen for the State Title in 94′. This may be the “oldest” rival in Ga. Two great teams with simular offenses and hard nosed defenses. Should be a historical battle for the Region 1 Title. Believe me the Packer team and fans will match the HomeTeam with passion and intensity.

May the best TEAM win!

P.S. Colquitt, Valdosta and Lowndes will still be around in the Quarter Finals and one will play for the Title in the Dome! Just a PACKER’s prediction!

Cheese and Rice people, most of these programs need the money, What a bunch of cheap asses, you should just stay home and hope they broadcast the game on your AM radio. I am sorry you probably needed that extra $5 bucks to pay the overage on your iPhone.

People, you are showing your lack of understanding of football economics in the 21st century. The schools do not contribute anything to the football programs in Georgia. Fulton schools do not allow the football programs to even get the ticket revenue so the parking fees are part of how they pay to put a team on the field. This is all completely sanctioned by the GHSA and the county school boards so your anger is totally misplaced.

I am certain the booster clubs would be happy to stop charging for parking if they could get some of the ticket revenue, but that money goes to help fund the rest of the sports that no one goes to watch.

Instead, I suggest you complain to the Fulton County school board officials that set these policies to begin with. Ask them to take money from some other dept and give it to football so you can avoid the $5 for parking. I wish you well with that.

In the meantime, you should save your pennies because the Alpharetta Raiders are region champs and will be collecting your $5 for weeks to come!

@ The Truth:

I believe some Cobb schools DO collect parking fees. And the one has sicne at least 2001 I believe. Plus the N Fulton teams that do…

If you have 400+ parking spaces that you charge for (x5 games or more depending on playoffs), that is a very quick way to make money where it is people other than just your own boosters paying for things.

@ Tift County Fan – I stated in a earlier blog that coach Walls shouldn’t be fired. I’m sorry to tell you this, but Tift just doesn’t have the talent right now to compete in region 1AAAAA. They have played about as good as the talent level will allow. No matter who the coach is, talent is the key to winning!!!

STEPHENSON JAGUARS & MLK LIONS THE BEST GAME OF THE YEAR! WHY??? Both teams are ranked in the states highest classification 4th & 5th respectfully, located outside the state capital, ATLANTA GA.. & Every DI coach called me in the country and told me to tell them bloggers to leave their little league football program alone in Stephenson High… They told me to tell those haters against Stephenson ., I’m just delivering the message”… :)

I understand what you are saying about paying for parking. What about us in DeKalb county we HAVE shared revenue. Which NO MATTER how many fans come out and support the team it is same!!! No disrespect but who bring in the bigger fan base should receive the majority of the money. Also when they play on TV!!!!!

Ok, Colquitt was ranked as high as 3rd at the begininng of the season then was dropped out of the polls and labeled as “overated” and now they have “dominated” Lowndes and Coffee. So, if the PACK dominates Valdosta in the same way this Friday night, is THAT finally enough to move them back up in the Polls, or are they going to have to wait until after their trip to the DOME to be ranked?

Walton does not charge to park. Most of the people like to park across the street at the middle school and walk to the stadium. I think Lassiter is the only Cobb school I recall having to pay to park. Definitely did at Etowah and Cherokee and all of the Fulton County schools.

TIME FOR A CHANGE

IT IS TIME WE LOOK AT STEPHENSON HIGH COACH RON GARTRELL, AND ASKED THE QUESTION, WHY HAVE U NOT WON A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW, YOU CAN NOT COACH. THE CENSUS AROUNG THE STATE OF GEORGIA IS, TEAM ARE NOT AFRAID TO PLAY AGAINST A TEAM WITH OVER FIFTEEN(15) DIVISION ONE COMMITTED FOOTBALL PLAYERS ON YOUR ROSTER. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT THE FIRST YEAR RON HAS HAD THIS KIND OF TALENT. SINCE THE EARLY YEARS OF CRAIG LUMPKIN, REGGIE BALL, ISRAEL ROUTE, T.J. GARTRELL ETC. YOU HAVE BEEN BLESS WITH GREAT TALENT. THE PROBLEM IS, YOU HAD GREAT TALENT. BUT TERRIBLE COACHING AND COACHES. RON GARTRELL SURROUNDS HIMSELF WITH COACHES WHO HAVE KNOW IDEA ABOUT FOOTBALL. THESE ARE THE MOST INFERIOR GUYS IN HIGH SCHOOL COACHING IN THE UNITED STATES. RON GARTRELL-HEAD COACH STEPHENSON HIGH SCHOOL IS A JOKE. EVERY COACH IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA AND ESPECIALLY IN 5-A FOOTBALL BELIEVES HE IS , AND KNOWS HE IS A JOKE. WHY, BECAUSUE HE CANT’T. RON GARTRELL TRACK RECORD SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. A SCHOOL THA T SITS IN A HOT BED OF TALENT. WITH THE WORST COACHING STAFF IN HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL. RON IS LOYAL TO A STAFF THAT CAN’T GET HIM TO THE NEXT LEVE. RON IS FORTUNATE BECAUSE, HE COACHES IN DEKALB COUNTY, WHERE HE IS NOT REQUIRED TO WIN, AND QUITE FRANKLY, HE HAVEN’T HAD A PRINCIPAL WHO HAS DEMANDED HIM TO WIN. OF COURSE THIS IS NOT CAMDEN CO., PARKVIEW, BROOKWOOD, VALDOSTA, LOWNES CO., OR ANY OF THOSE GREAT PROGRAMS WHICH DEMANDS, NOT ONLY REGION CHAMPION SHIPS, BUT STAGTE AS WELL. THE QUESTION WE MUST ASKED, HOW DID RON GET THIS JOB. RON ACCIDENTLY HAPPENED ON THE STEPHENSON JOB. HE HAILS FROM A SHAMROCK HIGH SCHOOL WHERE HE NEVER HAD A WINNIG RECORD. HIS BEST FRIEND DON SELLERS-STEPHENSON DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR HAS BEEN WITH HIM THE WHOLE TIME. YEAR AFTER YEAR NOT WINNING. UNCANDIDLY, RON AND HIS AWFULLLL, STAFF BLAMES THE PLAYERS FOR THERE TERRIBLE COACHING PERFORMANCE EVERY YEAR. WE KNOW RON HAS GREAT TALENT JUST LOOK AT COLLEGE, AND PRO FOOTBALL HAS QUITE A FEW OF HIS PLAYERS. RON BRAGGS ABOUT HIS PLAYERS PLAYING ON SATURDAYS AND NOW ON SUNDAYS. RON YOU SHOULD CALL CECIL FLOW OF THE GREAT PARKV IEW DYNASTY AND REQUEST HE TAKE OVER YOUR JOB AT STEPHENSON. THEN WE KNOW WE WILL WIN. OR CALL THE TUCKER HIGH SCHOOL HEAD FOOTBALL COACH AND GIVE HIM YOUR JOB. WHY, BECAUSE HE JUST GOT HERE AND GAVE THEM A STATE TITLE. IF RON GARTRELL DOESN’T WIN THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN REGION 5-A, THIS YEAR. AGAIN WITH OVER FIFTEEN(15) DIVISION ONE COMMITTEES. ” HE RON GARTREEL SHOULD BE FIRED”.
