HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL THURSDAYS ON WSB-TV
WSB-TV/Channel 2 and PlayON! Sports in cooperation with the Georgia High School Association announce a new night for exclusive high school football “Game of the Week” coverage.
Games will air live on Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m. on Channel 2.2, WSB-TV’s second digital channel. Fans can also watch games live on wsbtv.com and watch the rebroadcast Friday nights at 1:06 a.m. on Channel 2.

Great coaches win with average talent; average coaches win with great talent. Grayson has the latter. Worst coached game I’ve seen in years. Grayson should have beat Brookwood by four touchdowns. Grayson dominated the first half and Brookwood dominated the second half. Grayson coached as if they were playing on egg shells. Grossly over-rated but then so is Georgia high school football.

Gtayson threw a short pass and the kid was right on the sideline. After he was pushed out of bounds another player came over and hit him.

Grayson has never beat Brookwood by 4 td’s and i saw reason tonight to think they should. Brookwood is the defending state champion and you take a win over them any way you can get it.

Sorry, i didn’t think you were saying it was a bad call. What was going on when the refs called an official time out and ran over to the brookwood sideline and spoke to the coach for a few seconds?

I thought Grayson would win by a couple TD’s, but I forgot this was Brookwood vs Grayson lol. Brookwood lost in a crappy way, but this game just proves that Brookwood is still a VERY good team. I jumped out of my chair and yelled when Brookwood’s TE rumbled his way into the endzone. The Broncos will be a force in the playoffs just watch.

I was really surprised last year at the way the Grayson/North game went and i would rather leave North Gwinnett to someone else this year. But don’t be fooled by watching Grayson/Brookwood. Its usually this type of game.

@ All Colquitt fans – Excellent game. As a full-time fan I could not help but talk up the Trojans prior to the game. With that said I was not surprised by the outcome of the game. Probst is the coachinest coach I have ever watched. He plays harder than the players and plays the entire 48 minutes. Hope all of ya’ll made it home safely. At least we have the playoffs to look forward to.
I can’t wait to listen to the Valdosta bloggers holler about Colquitt cheating next week. You watch. it will start just about the time Colquitt is going in for their second score. And third. And forth …

Johns Creek 24 Northwest Whitfield 18. Northwest eliminated from playoff contention but still having a good season. Senior Night next week so come up 75 next week to Tunnel Hill and watch some exciting north Ga. high school football. GO BRUINS!

Almost missed the game as I had a sudden work commitment that had me in SE Atlanta at 5:00PM! Thought about watching on TV but boy am I glad I went. Announced attendance just under 11,000. See S GA, we *can* show up for games!
We looked really good during the first half. It was classic Grayson ball control with some passing mixed in. The Brookwood D was really strong but then so was ours. Brookwood had some great pass plays but mostly seemed to not be able to move the ball on the ground. For us to have been such a good second half team this year, it was like we turned into a turtle and pulled our head in our shell and got way too conservative and predictable.
We had too many penalties in both halves again. I didn’t say before the game but I really expected it to be close – no more than 1 score differential.
The Brookwood band is huge and really good as many have said. They played “where you at?” after the game and it was really funny how many of the parents were singing along. Overall, one of the more exciting games to be at in person. This has turned into a very strong rivalry and I hope it continues. For those watching on TV, you missed a lot.

Just got done watchin the grayson and Brookwood game. The secondary is weak ,and that #1 is the truth! But Grayson is over rated! Very over rated!!
grayson…………has not played anyone all year and should hav elost game against brookwood tonight. they will not do much in playoffs in my opinion. OVERRATED big time. Best they can do is 14-7 against a brookwood team who is down this year.
Colquitt county beat the s*h*i*t ouut of coffee just like i said COFFEETROJAN#44 and cc100 or watever your name is………yall are the 4th seed now my friend. Yall actually will have the easiest draw being the 4th seed. Coffee ………….quite frankly is a mediocre football team.
Lowndes dominated on defense tonight. I think we had 6 sacks . We missed two field goals and we also fumbled on tifts 15 yd line late in 4th. i will take a 21 point victory and a shutout though. Tift always plays lowndes hard………..we shut them out at home on Senior night with their season on the line.
Lowndes will get the loser of the stephenson ….mlk game in 1st rd. It doesnt matter to me……….we can beat either one if we show up and play viking football.
Colquitt will beat valdosta by at least 2 tds. Only team that can beat colquitt right now is colquitt.

mlk………..stephenson…………get ready………..the viking train and show is rolling into your town in two weeks. You had better bring it bc we will definately bring it. Lowndes has a big chip on their shoulder right now. We are over the valdosta hangover….luck…..——miralce. Whupdowns of coffee and tifton and now we are chompin at the bit to get a piece of whoever stands in our way.

If Colquitt plays like they did against Lowndes and like it sounds like they did against Coffee (I did not see that game, but I listened to much of it on 93.9), the Cats will have their hands full next Friday. If the Cats play as well as they did against Lincoln and as well as they did in 2nd half against Lowndes, the fans will be in for a great game. If we lose I hope our defense can hold the Pack to fewer than 33 points so we will hold on to 2nd seed. One thing I’m sure of, Coach Gillespie will have the Cats ready to play.

Lowndes shut coffee down last week also Packer Nation. They had 10 on us and in 4th we had our jv in game late. Hill ran nowhere on us either. I am telling you………yall are good but yall caught lowndes at a good time. We were down bad after the valdosta game. Lowndes can give colquitt a much better game i can assure you. I give yall the edge right now……but lowndes is much better than what yall got 2 weeks ago

Bksmith14 apparently Lowndes isn’t the tean Colquitt is either. The Cats didn’t get lucky against Lowndes. You guys decided to play not to lose in the 2nd half, while the Cats continued to play to win. At all levels of any sport, when a team plays not to lose, they give a big advantage to team that will not give up but continues to play to win. Put that one on your coaches. On that night, Lowndes was not the team Valdosta was.

packernation……………i agree colquitt will be good for years to come but dont think for one second that lowndes is goin to sit around and watch colquitt take over………not going to happen……..to much pride and money goes into lowndes program. We use players that live in lowndes….valdosta……dont go out of state to get players that are to old in ala but yet can play in ga.
Lowndes 9th grade and jv whipped colquitts…..bleep this year by the way.
However…….with all this said…………..i am glad to see colquitt good again and i think colquitt has a good shot to win it all this year. Good luck………….

57 cat………lowndes is better than valdosta……we did however play conservative in the last qtr of the game. It was a combination of luck……not giving up and everything goin right that had to go right for the cats and everything going wrong for lowndes that had to for vhs to pull it off. Caoches made poor decisions late in game also.

a team like maceachern will match up well against colquitt. you will have to throw to beat colquitt. They can be beat as they have already lost 16-8 to warner robins. However they have a fairly wasy road if they lock up the 1 seed.

@bksmith14 – Well, some people might think Grayson is overrated but we are 9-0 and region champs and your team is……oh yea, 7-2 with 2 region losses in a 5 team region and #3 I think I saw someone post tonight. I’ll happily take our team.

@football4life you are just plum dumb if u think Pope beat up on East last week.. the game was not even decided until the last minute.. East also had 4 starters out or playing less than 100%.. its a different game if they are playing. Not saying Pope didn’t deserve to win because they did, they are a solid team. I might be bringing up a can of worms when I type this, but I’ll note that Region 8-AAAAA rotates in the playoffs playing 5-AAAAA, 6-AAAAA & 7-AAAAA.. But Gwinnett regions 7-AAAAA & 8-AAAAA never play 2-AAAAA in the first round, even though they’re right next door. I just wondered why the region numbers were made the way they were. Otherwise, Gwinnett might see a lot more of Stephenson & MLK.

Grayson was lucky to pull that out last nite. In what was one of the biggest bone headed play calling, Grayson goes on it on 4th down on their own side of the ball they let Nkimdche do it again but remember 5×200 lbs. beats 1 guy at 270 any day when they tackle high and low.That is where brookwood should have driven in and won, Grayson was lucky to have gotten away with that one.When Grayson meets anyone with an explosive offense they will be done. They are big and strong but their play calling seem 3 yards and a cloud of dust no imagination, again.

Hats off to Walton, an outstanding team on both sides of the ball. They will surprise some people in the playoffs. Tough loss for Marietta in more ways than the score. On the first play Jennings threw a 40 yard pass and took a late hit which gave Marietta 15 more yards and Jennings a concussion, out for the game after only one play. Hope he won’t be out as long as Georgia’s receiver with a concussion. Marietta played the rest of the way with a receiver (who had played QB as a freshman) trying to throw in the rain against a great defense. No chance. Look for the Raiders to make some noise in the coming weeks. they would have won regardless but a dry field and Jennings would have made it a lot more entertaining.
