Chattahoochee 34, South Forsyth 0

Chattahoochee, the defending Class AAAA state champions, defeated South Forsyth 34-0 on Thursday night.

Chattahoochee sophomore C.J. Leggett scored the game’s first touchdown on a 17-yard run. On the final play of the first quarter, Jantzen Jeffrey threw a 78-yard touchdown pass to Marcus Sayles, who was wide open in the middle of the field.

A few minutes later, Chattahoochee’s Stephen Fullerton caused a fumble that was scooped up by teammate Conner Winn and returned for a 65-yard touchdown. In the final minute of the first half, Chattahoochee”s Chase Nelson broke free for a 97-yard touchdown run and 27-0 advantage.

In the third quarter, Winn had another big defensive play, intercepting a pass and returning it 44 yards for his second touchdown.

THE HOOCH’ IS PEEKING AND GETTING THEIR PARTS’ IN PLACE FOR A PLAYOFF RUN.IT IS
FUN TO WATCH. A YOUNG TEAM WITH FEW SENIORS COMING TOGETHER AT THE RIGHT TIME. CREDIT TO COACH CROWDER AND HIS STAFF. IT TAKES GREAT PATIENCE WITH A YOUNG TEAM. THEY HAVE IMPROVED BY THE WEEK AND NOW HAVE TO JUST STAY FOCUSED AS A TEAM & AS A STAFF. GAME TO GAME, WEEK TO WEEK!

Amen Bob as Fulton County is a sham! This is total BS of the GHSA rule of any player that transfers has to forfeit 1 yr of eligibilty unless his family physically moves into the area. Everyone else has followed this rule for years without issue. Now, unless you are a certain race, you seem to get a pass or look the other way attitude. I am sick of this! These transfer parents have not contributed a DIME to any of these programs, yet their kids move in and bump others that would normally be playing right out of the way. Funny, how we continue to allow this type of BS to continue.

Enough Said!

Hooch will end up the 3rd seed from region 7 which is pretty good considering all the players they lost last year. I see them maybe winning the first round in the playoffs but that’s about it. Don’t fool yourself this team is no where as good as last year. Lambert and JC or better

The new classifications have not been set or announced as of today. Last I heard JC and Hooch reported close to the same FTE numbers to GHSA, so you have no idea what you are talking about. and even if JC is moved up they will be playing the other local North Fulton teams not the Gwinnett side get your facts straight before you post.

Since there are so many Recruiting rumors surrounding Hooch -

I heard one about Saint Northview – Is it true you have a player that played in Gwinnett County last year?? Also, did he play for a coach NV hired from Gwinnett? If the entire family did not move to NV district how is this player eligible, hummmm following a coach from his previous school – would this fall under “Best environment for the kid” or recruiting. Just a rumor going around tbe community just like all of the rumors about Hooch – NO ONE HAS ANY PROOF of recruiting – For NV it is just sour grapes.

The reason players transfer to other schools is your program – Varsity program starts in 2002 and you have won less than 25 games including this years wins. In todays world everyone wants to “Win” not to mentioned the scholarship opportunities are much greater for players of winning programs. How many head coaches have your Sr. players had in there 4 yrs at NV at least 2 maybe 3 ?? How many coaches since Varsity program started?

FYI……..Hooch and Northview were open enrollment schools this year. For all of you who do not know how the system works, if you are a student in Fulton County and you want to attend an open enrollment school (which varies each year based on projected enrollment to keep the schools balanced) all that is required is to complete an application and hope the county approves.

Hooch got several students this year from open enrollment (plus students from Banneker HS because of AYP) and the students who came here were approved to play by GHSA.

If GHSA approves the kids to play, drop it and let it go. If you have a problem with the rulings of GHSA take one of the following actions:

1. Call the GHSA Office at 706-647-7473 and ask to speak with Dr. Ralph Swearngin
2. Remove your kid from public school and put them in a private school that competes in GISA.
3. Find another hobby other than viewing AJC message boards.

GREAT GAME LAST NIGHT HOOCH!! SEVERAL BIG PLAYS BY SEVERAL KIDS AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE GAME AT ROME NEXT WEEK. I WILL BE CLOSELY FOLLOWING THE LAMBERT/ROME AND JCHS/NW WHITFIELD GAMES TONIGHT FOR SOME POSITIVE OUTCOMES.

it’s not recruiting idiots, it’s called winning. If my kid goes to terrible northview, and i want him to play for a good program, then i don’t renew my apartment or home lease and move into the hooch district. it’s very simple. If you want kids to stay at your school, then start winning.

Jeff Witt graduated from Harvard and is currently in the Air Force… I think he’s doing pretty well for himself… and when Crowder initially came, he ran the Wing T, not the Spread offense that they currently run.

Thanks CuriousCat..OH, ok, then we (Cass) have the Hooch on our side at least. Remember parents and fans, the ultimate goal is to take the game of football to the next level, college (or higher) for an EDUCATION, and we all want our kids to be noticed on a “winning team”. However, talent has a way of prevailing no matter what, and the college recruiters will find the talent no matter what high school your son attends. And then it’s about the education, which is really what the high school focus is suppose to be about, and preparing our talented young men for the real world as they enter into adulthood and the college life. Let’s set good examples, shall we?

Northview…PLEASE win a game so you can shut up! I’ve been in the CHS system for 8 years now with 3 kids that have gone to CHS. I have lived in this area for 12 years and this is what I know about this area, people demand success in their lives. If there isn’t success, then there is going to be change. I promise you that if CHS was recruiting then they would be hitting up the schools that are a little better than Northview. We all want to put our kids in the best situation. I am thinking that the Northview people who are so upset right now are the ones that know moving their kids to other schools like Chattahoochee would not benefit their kid, because they wouldn’t play. So you are sitting around wondering “what could have been” if the others had stayed. Well what could have been is that your kids probably wouldn’t be getting as much playing time as he is now. So look on the bright side, with all of the kids gone that played in front of your son, at least you can see your baby play instead of waving at you from the sidelines. You’re a complainer, if you weren’t complaining about this then you would be complaining to your head coach about why your little one doesn’t get enough playing time. Northview, please start spending your time fixing your own program instead of being jealous of other’s success. I bet you will find that if you start winning then your kids will stop moving to other schools for a better opportunity. I bet if you start winning you wouldn’t be posting on every AJC article that has nothing to do with your school. Lastly, lets not fool ourselves. All of the schools in GA know of someone that moved to another school and we don’t think they should have. Northview, you aren’t above any of the garbage you are spitting out. If you remember your own history it seems like there was a particular famous NFL player that lived in the Country Club of the South but his son went to Northview to play qb and later played in college…Tuggle. Country Club belonged to Hooch at the time. So are you telling me that he moved out of Country Club of the South just to play football for a school that doesn’t really win. Wow! That’s a big sacrifice! Look the football season is almost over, give it all a rest and start working on your own problems instead of trying to stir up things for others…NO ONE WINS.

@Vegasjs; Da Coach is right. Those are the teams proposed for that region. If you would like to see all, go to ghsa re-alignment and the complete list is there. Granted, this is still not final but this is pretty much it.

TO ALL: The State of Georgia allows this to happen by law. The Georgia General Assembly enacted a law in 1997 giving parents and students the right to choose where they want to go school even if it is not in their attendance area. If you would go directly to Georgia General Assembly and search :School Attendance Lines, you will see HB121, better known as The Georgia Public School Choice Act of 1997. Now we know we all can do what others are doing. It’s just a matter if anyone wants to go to your school and play for that school or coach.

Chattahoochee is better than either Lambert or Johns Creek! I have seen all of these teams play in person. I watched Hooch v both Lambert and Johns Creek. When Hooch played Lambert it was the first game of the year. CHS has 2 returning starters on offense & 2 on defense. They have improved each game / week. By the fifth game when Hooch played Johns Creek they were a lot better than they had been against Lambert. The following week Johns Creek walloped Lambert. Hooch beating Johns Creek was no fluke either. I was at the game. Also, Hooch has not given up a point in its last two games. They ARE getting better each week. Johns Creek and Lambert have not been improving each week. COACHING! As far as overall player talent, Hooch has more than a few good D1 prospects. Whoever said they don’t is mistaken. Athletically they have been more impressive looking than the other teams on the field with them. Without question Chattahoochee passes the eyeball test. After reading some of these comments – I am hoping Chattahoochee gets another crack at both Johns Creek and Lambert.

@ fromwhereisit (your comments will not allow me to use caps when addressing you.) It is rather sad that you feel this way in todays world. Many of are trying to give praise to the kids for being involved in something other than the streets and no matter whether your kid plays or sits the bench, we should be glad and thankful that on Friday or saturday night, we know where our children are and that they are safe. Do not allow your personal experiences to stand in the way of your kid enjoying some of the best times they will ever have. Good luck to your team this week !!
