Class AAAAA roundup

Archer 35, Shiloh 0: The host Tigers got three touchdown runs from Ernest Alexander and three interceptions from Deandre Singleton to improve to 3-3 on the season. Archer quarterback Jarvis Holley and Sean Fowler added short touchdown runs.

Campbell 33, Kennesaw Mountain 7: The host Mustangs scored on a 31-yard touchdown pass from Zack Chandler to Devin Putnam to go up 7-0 in the first quarter. The Spartans stormed back with 33 unanswered points to end a 13-game skid to the Mustangs.

Centennial 32, Roswell 30: Centennial’s Connor Davis hit a 25-yard field goal with three seconds left to win the game. The Knights cut the lead to one at 30-29 when quarterback Jimmy Meyer scored on a seven-yard run. Centennial went for two and was stopped, but converted an onside kick.

East Coweta 35, Hughes 14: East Coweta used a stifling defense to come out on top against the host Panthers. The Indians picked off four Panther passes, and David Singleton intercepted two of them to increase his season total to seven.

Grayson 34, Dacula 14: Grayson improved to 6-0 on the year and knocked visiting Dacula out of a three-way tie for the Region 8-AAAAA lead Friday night in Loganville. Nkemdiche finished with three touchdowns, and quarterback Nick Schuessler threw for 165 yards and two scores. Callen Hightower scored on a 40-yard pass, and Devin Gillespie took a screen pass 27 yards to paydirt for Grayson. Parkview and Grayson are now both 4-0 in the region.

Marietta 35, Woodstock 13. Blue Devils quarterback Anthony Jennings used his arm and his legs to almost singlehandedly beat the visiting wolverines. Jennings posted three touchdowns through the air and rushed for a fourth. Jalen McLaurin rushed for Marietta’s other score.

Peachtree Ridge 28, Collins Hill 27: Myron Burton tied the game at 27-all on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Billy Best, and Conner Rouleau kicked the game-winning extra point as visiting Peachtree Ridge rallied from a 27-14 deficit in the final three minutes of the fourth quarter.

Pebblebrook 36 North Cobb 34, 3OT. Host North Cobb took a 14-0 lead into the locker room at halftime, but the visiting Falcons came back to tie the game late to force overtime. Sophomore Perry Sheldon caught the game winning two point conversion from quarterback C. J. Goodman.

Tift County gets blown out by Colquitt County 46-12. A bunch more turnovers. Tift is on it’s way to a 3-7 season. Hopefully it’s Jay Walls’ last one in Tifton.

You are dead on Sideline Dude . Walls needs to go . Tift Co. needs to go get a real coach with a proven record against similar competition and pay him big bucks .
We should be reloading every year . Seems we are constantly rebuilding . The rest of the Region never has to rebuild . We should never be losing games to smaller classification teams… NEVER ! The Program is pathetic and has set itself way, WAY behind . I can not see this Coach bringing it back from the dead . The next Coach will have to be a miracle worker .

I’ve been listening to you for quite a while now go on and on about Camden’s titles and that should be congratulated but give us a break please! Everyone in GA knows you guys have had a great run in the last 10 years or so and its nothing wrong with being behind your team 100%. I’m just tired of the Dekalb bashing you guys do, we have titles sure its not that many and it was in the mid to early nineties but the few we have had went through all these storied programs I hear about and respect. Stephenson and MLK were just a few better calls on the sidelines away from going to the semis and even finals in past years don’t get it twisted, just look it up. When they lose it hasn’t been by much and some better decisions down the stretch by both coaching staffs and things might’ve turned out differently. I was at playoff games against Coffee, Colquitt for Stephenson and also at a MLK-Tift playoff game in the past, those small decisions and tough breaks hurt them. Now I know coaching is a part of the state title recipe but don’t question if there’s a desire to win a title in Deaklb of course it is just like anywhere else! Who knows this could be their year, besides I was born and raised in Decatur and played at Columbia HS basketball, baseball and football in the early to mid 90’s. I never even heard of Camden Cty before 2000, I mean no disrespect but if it started for you guys why can’t it start for MLK/Stephenson at some point. Sorry its so long haven’t been on here in quite a while I got a lil long winded

I do agree they should’ve had a write-up about that game in the paper, although I’m surprised dude its the Atlanta Journal-Constitution not the Georgia Times! Maybe if yall bought more papers down there you wouldn’t have a problem. Does the paper in Valdosta have write ups about all of the schools here in Atlanta, I doubt it. No disrespect just asking

Does the Valdosta Daily Times claim to be a Georgia state wide news paper–just asking?

Norcross ate up North and lost the game, They did the sames thing at Mill Creek but still won, they still will go deep but need to hold on to leads. North needs respect for the come back good job. Collins hill will loose to the Hawks and will be out this year, Hawks will be the three seed. Remember Gwinnett plays Gwinnett in the first round, real interesting.

Sorry guys I been away from the blogging like my other regulars… I just would like to gradulate Dekalb only 2 Schools that play in 5-A. Stephenson & MLK. Although Stephenson is really a 4-A or maybe 3-A, we still continue to play up. AFter MLK beating of Valdosta and people are waiting to see what Stephenson does in the playoffs, I think more people are starting to respect these two dekalb county programs. I enjoy the wing t running of Stephenson & the timing routes of MLK. These two teams will be a very tough out when it comes to playoff… I have seen a change in these players more aggressive, & discipline

One of the many reasons that the AJC is loosing readership is due to it no longer being the “Paper that covers the south like the dew covers Dixie.” You can no longer buy a AJC below metro Atlanta.
A great paper that changed to meet the times is fading away.

Decatur 4 Life – you make an excellent point, “I never even heard of Camden Cty before 2000…”

I believe and I’m plenty will correct me if I’m wrong, but hasn’t Camden been to the post season for at least 20 or so straight seasons.

Yet no one in the state cared about their so called cupcake region until they start getting past the second round on a regular basis starting in 2002

I’m not sure, does The Valdosta Daily Times claim to be a Georgia state wide news paper? One thing I am sure about if they were a state wide newspaper North Georgians wouldn’t whine about our game not being covered because we have our own paper that covers us. No doubt they should’ve had some kind of recap for a game of that caliber in the AJC, I agree with u on that though

MLK giving up 42 points to Luella after giving up 3 to Valdosta? Who can figure that? Not a confidence builder for MLK in any top ten rankings.

I have no problem with Camden County being rated #1 from the talent they seem to have. Maybe this will be MLK’s or Stephenson’s year. If so, it’s about time, for even getting to the finals for 2-AAAAA is long overdue. And anybody that comes from that region should stop blaming anybody: referees, coaches, weather, kharma. What matters is what happens on the field.

Gwinnett Dad… Football is a funny game, the only thing that is for sure is it is played inbetween the lines and whoever is the better team on that nite will continue to move on while the other team goes home. It is anyones state tile to loose. No one didn’t expect Hillgrove to make that great run last year just like Colquitt County a couple years ago making all the way to VChampionship game with a (9-4) record. I only hope that football is just as exciting this year as well. I hope to see any Gwinnett team in the semis. I think high school football is great all over the state

The AJC is no longer a statewide newspaper or have respect as such. It hardly is respected
in the areas it purports to serve.

Sad. Used to look forward to reading it on a daily basis.

Okay guys——–The Atlanta Journal Constitution is a state wide paper. Let’s face it. Most of you who are arguing North vs South do not live in Atlanta, so it is a moot point. Honestly, you should be challenging if someone critized your paper if you are from the Norcross, Johns Creek, Tucker, East Point, Lawrenceville, Buford, Snellville, etc. Tell the truth—most you you live in one of these cities or another in the metro area.

My job takes me to Valdosta 5 days a week. I listen to the Legend Monty Long on an AM station 810 every morning. I hear a lot of talk coming out about how great Lowndes and Valdosta are , but I dont see the results on the scoreboards. All that titletown, winnersville is the past! The state has caught up to you guys and get use to it.
