After facing Cairo on the road and Sandy Creek in the Georgia Dome, the Drew Titans weren’t going to scare in a home game, no matter who the opponent was.
The Titans turned in a near-flawless performance, whipping previously unbeaten Stockbridge 31-7 Friday night at Southern Crescent Stadium behind Jadarius West, who rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns as the Titans (3-2, 2-1 Region 4-AAA) kept themselves in position to earn a playoff spot.
The Titans’ win avenged a 19-0 loss to Stockbridge last year and the Titans narrowly missed their first-ever shutout. It also gained a measure of comfort for the Titans, whose former teammate Marquis Magwood was seriously injured in a south Florida car crash earlier in the day.
“We were playing with heavy hearts,” said Drew coach Jarrett Laws. “There was a strange mix of emotions out there.”
Drew quarterback Jay Murray completed 12 of 18 passes for 130 yards, including a 37-yard TD to Devon Miller.
