East Paulding’s defense has yet another shutout. Only allowing 5 first downs if I counted right.

I dont see anyone in the state beating northside waner robins this year not tucker and not the guy who lettered at 4 different high schools at flowerybranch either

Now that we are several games into the year we have some interesting comparisons.

Grayson 7 (#3 AAAAA)
Kell 0

East Paulding 31
Kell 0

Hillgrove 21 (#7 AAAAA)
Sprayberry 0

East Paulding 31
Sprayberry 0

Hillgrove beat Sprayberry 41-21. I was at the game and it was 41-7 in the 4th quarter before Hillgrove emptied the bench.

Narrion: Proud of that aren’t you? Hillgrove would probably empty the bench playing East too. Only point to be made here is that the mercy rule would be in effect and the Hawks first string would still be trying to figure out a way to score against East’s backups.

ep fan you can talk all that smack you want but all he did is correct the score!!! Although east has a good team tells you boys to come back to the big boy level and win on a consistent basis and then talk some crap no need for yall to be playing 4A.

This is Camden Countys best team I have seen. They have played a very aggressive non region schedule, and it will pay dividends in the playoffs. Guaranteed

Don’t even start this crap about play “up with the big boys”…EAST played AAAAA in 08 & 09 going 15 / 7 with a 11 / 6 Region record and 2 playoff appearances losing only to GRAYSON by a tight 17 / 7 game…the GRAYSON team that went on to beat LOWNDES the next week!!!

EAST could have stayed at AAAAA but the opening of NORTH PAULDING split off a large portion of the EAST student enrollment leaving EAST at the very bottom if not under the enrollment of the smallest AAAAA school. EAST currently competes with many schools that while AAAA still have larger student enrollments to pull players from.

But you can believe what you want the EAST PAULDING team could play and BEAT most of the AAAAA teams in this area on any given friday night! Learn to “FEAR THE BEAST FROM EAST”!

Sorry about first post. MaxPrep bit me on that one, and thanks for correcting it. I wasn’t saying in no way EP is better or worse than HG or Grayson. I was trying to looking at what other schools did against same opponents since ALL we have is region/sub region games. It could have been any schools just happend to be HG and Grayson.

Looking at the PBF (from Hillgroves web site) of that game for the 1st half only.

HG 28
Sprayberry 7

our first half

EP 21
Sprayberry 0 (only getting 1 first down)

So still IMO a respectable comparison.

I hope our Hillgrove neighbors keep winning.

FridayNightLightsFan It gona be tight the rest of the year. this when it starts getting gooder and gooder, and the playoffs besttest and bestest…….

Wow MLK they ran off the bus took a battleaxe and began to beat the goal post, and the proceeded to hand it to Valdosta, the entire nite. MLK more physical than valdosta, was knocking boys out left and right….qb, rb, lds, etc……. It sound they needed a triage… set up under the cats bleachers… But seriously hope noone was hurt badly….
Way to go MLK, hats off…

glad EP is off this upcoming week…. think that we are going to Mceachern to check out that game this week…@ the truth… the East team has nothing to do with opening of schools…new schools in the county have taken away from EP and they still perform!!! GO RAIDERS!!!

October 1st, 2011

CannonRules…might want to check your sources or memory on EP’s visit to 5A for those two years. They competed well that first year and even had a shot to win the region. But that 2nd year was easily the toughest since Coach Reid took the job. Went 5-5 on the field of play and took a bit of a thumping in a couple of those games…no playoffs in year 2. Did not come close to dominating the region as they did prior to moving up and since moving back down. The Raiders were still prepared and still played hard…but they were going against more teams who would punch ‘em in the mouth.

You folks have a top-notch program over there that can stand on its on true merits…never have figured out why some EP supporters seem to feel the need to throw in the smoke and mirrors and blow it up bigger than it really is.

@OMacG – BOTH are right. EP Officially went 6-4 (Etowah game officially a forfit)

October 1st, 2011

Another thing that “The Cannon Rules” pointed out EP lost student enrollment to North Paulding a drop of 15% or around 300 students in 2 years (we will never know but could have made a diffrence).

FNLF- Yeh, I knew Etowah had to forfeit some games that season…thus the “on the field of play” when I mentioned EP’s record.

As I stated, EP’s program is top-notch…wish they could have kept a 5A population and stayed in our region. Would have been some outstanding battles, especially this season where it looks like there might not be much challenge outside of Hillgrove.

valyboy —- Don’t leave Ware County out of your playoff travel plans. They will HAVE to be reckoned with before Northside can claim the trophey. I see Northside and Tucker on the right side of the brackets, I think with East Paulding and Statesboro (I will go back and look at my Crimson and White crystal ball again again!) A LOT of good teams at this level of play.

Northside needs to take eaglenationrising’s advice to Norcross to heart, and learn to play defense for 4 quarters. Looks like WR almost came back and pulled it out Friday night. WR did come from behind and beat NSWR in 2009, and no one will ever forget 1999 in the dome when NSWR did the biggest flop in the history of GA High School Football. Even bigger than the Mets and Braves epic collapses! Get this NSWR, DEFENSE ALL FOUR QUARTERS. That’s exactly what ENR said to Norcross. Sorry REEZE and Blu Eagle, just HAD to throw that spear toward our friend ENR. LOL!!

Come on let’s hear the NG and Norcross predictions! Where is NGHS 09?

Anybody but me hear that silence coming from Peachtree Ridge? Not a single post from Quinn of the Ridge, or any others. What’s wrong? Ya’ll can’t just give up guys!

OmacG —- Where are the HG folks getting together to smoke that crow they’ve got to eat? Top of Kennesaw Rock? That’d be big enoughand safe enough for the bonfire they will need to cook all that bird that surely are gonna have to eat next Saturday morning. Maybe the Wildcat folks down here, including your friend Monte, can put off their bonfire and just have a joint picnic with the HG folks. (I kinda think the Norcross people can join’em and really have a sure nuff cookout. Enough crow to go around for all three!)

If’en they need some good CROW recipe’s, we’ve got plenty of’em at Lowndes. In 2008, 2009, and 2010 we learned it ain’t all that bad if you cook it right. (YES IT IS!!!!!!!! AIN’T NO GOOD NO MATTER HOW YOU COOK IT!! TRUST ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Looks like the word would get around about crowing too soon. The EP folks seem to never learn.

Big game this Friday—–It is going to be close but I have to go with my boys!!!!

Norcross 35-NG 31

October 2nd, 2011
3:22 pm

Rank MLK, Norcross, and Walton above Hillgrove….21-14 over a team they should have killed…Come on!

October 2nd, 2011
3:35 pm

I’m not gonna make a prediction, but I will say this…Mill Creek wore down Norcross after the 1st half and started doing whatever they wanted on offense. NG’s defense is head and shoulders above where Mill Creek’s is. Mill Creek’s defense was unprepared for the speed of Norcross and then finally got their footing after the 1st qrt. Better coaching will prevail in this one. It has the last three years. This NG team is on a mission this year and anyone can see they are working their plan every play. I have been at practice this past week (shadowing Mo Dixon) and the feeling in the air is a presence i haven’t felt since the 07′ season. It’s written on everyone’s faces. Everyone I talked to kept repeating the phrase “unfinished business”. Again though, i’m not making a prediction. Just reminding Norcross who the boss of this region has been in recent years. I welcome the title of “underdog” in this matchup!

Brookwood is starting the raise the alarm again over there in snellville. We better listen well in order to hear/prepare for the storm comin’! 117 points in the last two games tells me somebody found their offensive line :0.

@FridayNightLightsFan – I don’t read too much into the scores against same teams played stuff. There are way too many variables that the score alone can’t take into consideration. For whatever reason a particular team may not be clicking well on a given night. The coaching staff may be holding back some. A key player may be injured. Rumor has it that Grayson planned to do only the tried and true stuff at the Kell Classic and not show their hand too much for the coming season. (If true, it almost bit us! ;-) ) As an example, would you have believed that a classic wing-T team would have the passing yards we do this season. We threw 19 passes week before last. There have been recent seasons where we didn’t pass that much!

I understand what people are trying to do and it is just as valid as any other method of ranking teams but it is a long way from perfect.

By the way, talk about EP losing students, we have lost over a 1,000 to Archer in the past two-three years. Welcome to Gwinnett’s world of enrollment explosion and new schools right and left!
