Cheat-tahoochee barely beats a 2nd year varsity team at home in overtime. No state championship in the future with this squad.

Those kids at Johns Creek are 100% heart as they overcome an 60 yard bomb in 4th Q and produce a 70 yard scoring drive to tie the score with 5 seconds in the game.

Great game.

I’m sorry. Was that winning or whining? I heard lots of talk about the undefeated record of JCHS. Guess it was just talk.

The problem with CHS is they lack class – from players to parents – the community at large cheers on JCHS because of how they act and carry themselves – maybe CHS should take a hint….grow up and face that this is high school football.

With its state title, Chattahoochee has become the New York Yankees of North Fulton. Everyone, primarily JCHS wants to take shots and make excuses when they can’t beat the big dog.

1.JCHS clock management in the last 2 minutes was awful -cost them a chance at a TD.

2. How do they let the CHS kid get loose for throw over the top when CHS hadn’t moved the ball all night.

3. In OT, JCHS 3rd and inches and run a play with a shotgun to the QB with no halfbacks

A two year program… come on, seriously? Most of those kids were from Chatt. anyway. Also, in High School you typically only have Juniors and Seniors playing anyway (two years). Just face it, you steal kids from one school it actually seems fair; you lost again-move on.

Great game! I was there. It could have gone either way. It took me 50 minutes to get out of the parking lot!

2012 you could not be more wrong about CHS lacking class. I came away from last nights contest impressed with the friendly nature of this new rivalry. There was no rude or obnoxious fan behavior on either side of the stands, just devoted fans cheering on their teams. Neither was there a single demostration of poor sportsmanship by either team on the field. All in all it was a class act.

The New York Yankees of North Fulton! — stop stroking yourself. Including 2010, Hooch football has had about 4 good seasons in its entire history! Overall, a mediocre program in a weak region. Sure, everyone is jealous of you!!

As for Johns Creek. Tough loss to the first capable opponent you have played. Next week is your second loss, and you’ll need to regroup to claim third in the region.

I am an impartial observer, but anyone who writes that another entire group of people “have no class”, by definition has no class. You are all the same people, and it’s a high school football game. It is what it is, now move on. And quit talking about what is going to happen in future games. Whatever happens, no one writing here will have any influence on it.

Regarding Hooch history, Hooch had many playoff appearances at the 5A level throughout the late 90s and 2000’s. In fact had 5A playoff appearances in 2006 and 2007 where they lost to North Gwinnett and Grayson. In 2008 and 2009 they were mixed with the Gwinnett mega schools and finished around .500 both years.

I love this Home of the Titan stuff. If your kid is a good football player with potential to play at the next level, would you stay at Northview (never made the playoffs in school history)? Also both Northview and JCHS are Chattahoochee spinoffs, so its not like these kids are really travelling far.

Wait lets see. Half your starters from the past 2 years have been recruits from other schools. Whats the budget over at Hooch for recruiting. Go Hooch Titans!!!

Another tough break for JCHS – next year will be their peak talent year and they will get stuck in 6A with the Gwinnett big boys. Instead of 4A title contender, they will be a 3rd or 4th place playoff qualifier (still good, but no ring).

Another thing, they need to take the chains off the Overton kid. If that kid was allowed to throw more (like Byerly), JCHS would go a lot farther this year.

All you have to do is stop being Hooch wannabies and just be Johns Creek. Be proud of your accomplishments and not envious of another more successful program, To make negative statements about a team from a year ago that was one of the best in the history of Georgia High School Football is futile and embarrassing to you and your school.
Last night was a very exciting game between 2 evenly matched teams and you should be proud of the performance displayed by the JCHS players & coaches.

“one of the best in the history of Georgia High School Football”!? What a joke. Look, they won the championship, but let’s put the crazy, self- aggrandizing talk away.

Lets review 2010 – Hooch won 13 blow outs including 24-0 in the final and won in stunning 2 score comebacks versus perennial winners (Marist and Statesboro) in the other 2 games.

Best in history – yessss!!

As a HS football junkie I have saw this is the most lively blog this weekend. WOW!!! Hats off to both teams to a hard fought game. I’ve only learned a couple things and that is every year has to stand on it’s own AND tradition is is the basis of pride for the bloggers.

Today is all that really matters, if and team from that region is still standing after 2 rounds of the playoffs that would be a surprise to the AAAA would.

TICK ….. TICK……TICK ………..BOOM!!!!

I would have thought the ‘71 Valdosta team that won a national championship would be considered the best in GA history, but the Hooch fans seem to be real GA football historians, LOL.

” It appears from all these comments that hooch gets their players from other school (recruits?) It is really a shame that the coach can not develop players instead of having Northview do all the work and then what – they flash a rhinestone ring and tell them they are going to get recruited is that why these boys transfer? I know when you are not too smart it it easier to have a better class rank art hooch, but as parents that is pretty sad you would sell your son short to make it easier for them. I am truly disgusted that the hooch community can sit back and watch their program trashed so they can win some games and not put any work in to develop real hooch students. I remember when hooch could not win more than 5 games when they played the same teams as Northview or Alpharetta. Maybe if they stop kidding themselves a win will be real. And please , those yellow uniforms are disgusting keep with that nice blue.

Community Mom – you remember wrong. When Chattahoochee was playing with Northview and Alpharetta they were making the playoffs. Also Chattahoochee test scores are right up there with all of North Fulton schools and they come out with communication and social skills.

2012 – Too bad he didn’t get that QB from Camden County. I am sure that we will recruit better next year.

It is funny how the NV and JCHS fans state CHS has no class etc.etc.. but NV and JCHS are splits of CHS for those positing this I guess the name of the HIGH SCHOOL you goto determines if you have class or not LOL!!!!

NVFootballFan – HALF OF THE STARTERS – pls name the starters from NV over the last two years – no were near half – _ I think JCHS has players that are districted for CHS but when to JCHS instead(Starting Fullback for one -transferred this year after playing for Hooch last year) and I understand they have a couple of NV players at JCHS as well – why are you not posting about this.

The game this past Friday was simply amazing!!

As a Hooch fan I will say that Johns Creek came over to our place and played a great game. Being that it was a rivalry game you could throw records out of the window because it was going to come down to the team who had the most heart and wanted to win the most.

The atmosphere was great and both sides were in full support of their teams. I will hand it to the JCHS fans when you all put up the newspapers….that was funny….an oldie but a goodie. The Hooch student section had a sign put up that said “NO White after Labor Day” in reference to JCHS’s “White Out.” Another funny antic…..All in all it was all good fun for a game. The only jab I will make towards the JCHS fans is that the next time you try to steal our “I BELIVE THAT WE WILL WIN” cheer, make sure you can back it up!!

I agree with you in that Skye Overton should be allowed to let loose and see what happens. He seems to be a solid athlete and I would love to see what he could do in the pocket.

@2012, this next part is especially for you……

As for those of you who are saying that Hooch shows no class, get over yourself and take a look in the mirror. I cannot tell you how many times Johns Creek parents/athletes/coaches/supporters/etc have constantly reminded everyone that they are “THE” school in North Fulton and that everyone else is now a second class citizen since JCHS opened its doors in 2009. So many of them put their noses up in the air and act as if their rear end produces Tiffany necklaces and cuff links on a daily basis and for many of them it is just because they live in an wealthy neighborhood and are associated with a new school.

Are there stuck up people at Hooch? Absolutely. Are they are JCHS? Yes. However are there down to earth people at both schools who care about academics and support athletics at their school? You better believe it.

I will give credit when credit is due and JCHS played a great football game on Friday. Best of luck for the remainder of your season and I wish you nothing but the best. Who knows, one fine day I may need to cheer for JCHS because you all beating someone will help Hooch (no different than me being a Georgia fan and needing Florida to beat South Carolina). However until that day comes you all will be my bitter rival and nothing more than the school down the street.

Thanks for the warning about next year but JCHS will be a AAAAAA (that is 6A just in case you cannot count) and heading to play with all the 3000+ schools of Gwinnett County. So enjoy yourself as you get you teeth kicked in by North Gwinnett, Grayson, Brookwood, Parkview (just to name a few). Chattahoochee will be AAAAA (5A….just covering all my bases) and if we play each other you will be nothing more than a warm-up game for our region contests.

Its sad that Hoochs win at all cost mentatlity and illegal recruiting tactics has tarnished any good that may hae come from winning State last year. Hooch should be ashamed

October 4th, 2011
9:47 am

First off, it was a heck of a game!!! JCHS had an excellent game plan to counter Hooch’s wildcat formation and to contain #4. The JCHS-Lambert game should be a good one! Hooch defense stepped up, but still needs to wrap up those tackles. Too many 3rd and long situations converted by JCHS.

Now to the subject of the fans, I saw no unsportsmanlike behavior anywhere. I thought both sides (teams & fans) were well behaved. JCHS had really strong fan support, most of the time it seemed louder than Hooch’s side. (this told to me by several Hooch players) At least until the final 2:30 minutes of regulation. Hopefully, this spirit will carry forward through the rest of the season.

Illegal Recruiting?? I was under the impression that the players (& their parents) were instigating the transfers. Does anyone have direct proof that the Hooch coaches are recruiting?? if not, then we’re are just speculating here! If there is a loophole (hardship transfers) in the system that is being exploited, then GHSA needs to fix it! Chattahoochee is an awesome school for academics & athletics & overall student environment! Why wouldn’t families want their children there!

Last year’s state championship was an incredible feat by that team! Those players & coaches worked their tails off for years to be in that position to contend for the championship! If rules are being broken, then I would expect to see some sanctions against the school & coaches. Until that happens, I’ll stick with my beliefs. I don’t see any tarnishing at all of last year’s championship! The stars aligned for Hooch & the team achieved all of it’s goals!

Now back to this week, I’m already excited about road-tripping to Cartersville to support Hooch against Woodland on Friday night! The team keeps improving every week! I’m looking for the offensive to really step up and put some points on the board this week! Need to get th eball into the hands of the playmakers again!

Good luck to both JCHS & Lambert this week too. It should be a good game!

GO HOOCH!!!!!!!!!

I agree with amost all of your post. Except that you are being very naive if you did not think the coaches have something to do with all the transfers to Hooch. The smoking gun is there. How is it that there is a rule in place to prevent recruiting but somehow Hooch Football team every year gets granted hardships due to mental anquish or some other reason you have to admit at a minimum it should send up a red flag.

Great game! In the band, saw it all, best game in a LOOOOONG TIME! Hooch’s going all the way this year,

For those who are yelling at us for losing to Lambert, i want to see you beat them. They’re undefeated, a powerhouse! They are like Hooch from last year, and Hocch is like Lambert from last year, still great teams!
