Harrison has separated from the pack of top area volleyball teams and seems like a squad on a mission, winning 19 of their first 20 matches, including the last five in a row. Setter Kelly Scott leads the team with 378 assists, to go along with 58 kills and 40 aces. The 6-foot-1 junior has been a star for Harrison since her first year in the program, when she was listed as one of the top freshman volleyball players in the nation. Scott led the team a year ago with 816 assists and will most likely eclipse that mark this season. … In just their third year as a program, Johns Creek has quickly become one of the top teams in the state. The Warriors have been consistent from day one this season and are currently riding a 14-match winning streak. Senior outside hitter Becky Moye leads the squad with 119 kills and 40 aces. Senior libero Kellie Cappai has been one of the top defenders for JCHS with 107 digs. The Warriors are on a school-record pace with an overall record of 23-4. Tough competition awaits this week, as Johns Creek will face South Forsyth, Forsyth Central, Roswell and Riverwood. … Princess Forbes has been a bright spot during a lackluster year so far for Campbell. The Spartans have struggled to a .500 record, but Forbes has shined throughout the up-and-down season. The senior middle hitter leads Campbell with 141 kills in 43 games. She has also posted 29 aces and 17 assists, to go along with a team-high 17 blocks and 98 digs. Forbes helped the Spartans gain a playoff spot in 2010, and despite a 10-10 mark, Campbell still has post-season aspirations this year. … Lassiter did not live up to early expectations, but has recently won three straight matches. The Trojans are now 14-11, led by seniors Becca Arndt and Carly Crowder. The middle hitters have combined for 226 kills and 66 aces. If the Trojans are going anywhere this year, this duo will have to continue to play well. Lassiter will have senior night against Kell on Thursday, before competing in the Lovett Block Party this weekend. … Roswell’s Jennifer Shults has continued her stellar senior season with 232 kills, 17 aces, 140 digs, and 14 blocks, helping the Hornets to a 14-5 overall record. Maybe even more impressive has been sophomore Carlyn Gilbert, who leads the team with 356 assists and 26 aces. Six-foot-two junior Claire Yakatis has been a stopper for the Hornets with 45 blocks this season. Area play gets underway this week against West Forsyth. Roswell should be a team to watch out for when the playoffs roll around, especially with the likes of Shults and Gilbert leading the way.
