McEachern gets national ranking; polls like Buford, Grayson

Fresh off a 49-0 victory over Gainesville, Buford is the highest-ranked Georgia team in three national polls this week.

Grayson is the highest in three others, and a seventh poll tabs Camden County as Georgia’s best team.

The biggest jumper this week was McEachern. That’s partly because the team that McEachern beat two weeks ago – North Gwinnett – routed nationally renowned East St. Louis (Ill.) 41-0 last week. McEachern is No. 57 in the National Prep Poll, near the spot East St. Louis occupied last week.

Southeast Region of Prep Nation Poll has:
5. Loganville, Ga., Grayson (2-0) (5)
6. Kingsland, Ga., Camden County (1-0) (9)
9. Valdosta, Ga., Lowndes (2-0) –
It will be a very good game on friday with Maceachern and Lowndes lacing them up. It will be well worth the trip to The Palace. Rankings are just that, someones opinion as to where they think that a team should be. Good to see Ga represented in so many polls though. Still a long season.

Lowndes number one in GA in the AP poll, and McEachern number 3. Almost identical to Lowndes vs NSWR in 08 (1 and 2). Personally I would have put Camden number one, Grayson number 2, McEachern number 3 and Lowndes number 4, perhaps number 5 behind Stephenson’s Allstars and Transfers. Should be a really good game Friday at our Concrete Palace. One notable thing is the reported McEachern itinerary for Friday supposedly posted on their coach’s blog on their website (I have heard about it but have not actually read it). It states a certain time for the players to get out of class Friday morning, a time to report to the Field House, a time to get on the buses, a time to arrive in Tifton for lunch, a time to arrive at Lowndes High school, a time to be dressed out and ready to warm up, the 8:00 kickoff, and “11:00 VICTORY DANCE ON THE TURF AT THE CONCRETE PALACE”, 11:15 “board buses and go home”. Our young Vikings are thinking about that pretty hard. H-mmmm. Kinda ballsey!

You might want to find it and read it, AVikingFan…”on the turf at the concrete palace” is not mentioned. I’d have a bit of an issue if that itinerary was posted in the MDJ or AJC…but it ain’t. It’s located on a website, 4 mouse clicks deep. I’d say it was for the team…and I have no problem with the ballsy-ness of it.(smile)

good thing about who ever wins on friday between Lowndes and Mac…..NO one can get on to the field at Lowndes unless they jump down a 15 foot wall from the bleachers… as we all know in region only those involved in the game and the media are allowed on the field…. fan can not get on to the field.

Camden hasn’t earned any ranking as of yet. The Cats will get their first test on Monday against Glenville. Glenville is not ranked, but they are HUGE and fast. I watched them take the top rated 5A team in Ohio to overtime, only to lose 17-14………Camden has zero returning starters on offense and 8 return on defense…..They were not very sharp on offense against Charlton and Glenville will be much tougher! On defense, Camden is fast, as always. But, we’ll have to see if they’ve improved in the secondary! Also, the Cats must tackle much better that they have in the past……Glenville will have an advantage in size and home field(crowd). But the Cats will be a step quicker and more disciplined……With all of that said, I predict a victory for the Cats!

I watched that Glenville game, unless I was watching a different game, they wer not very fast and had issues on the corners and with mis direction plays. However they were huge on the O line, comparable to Miami Central. The game was close because ST Ed could not close them out. They were playing not to lose once they got the lead. St Ed was faster and quicker than Glenville in my estimation. They also were susceptible to the pass. Each game is different as we know. Glenville had a stamina issue towards the end of the game, those big bodies began to fall out. I expect a good game in Ohio, wish both teams well, wish safe travels for Camden. Spoke to a lot of folks from there and they all seem to be headed to Ohio. I understand that a bus has been chartered for travel. Would not surprise me to see 1 or 2 thousand folks from Camden county making that trek to Ohio. After all it is a hoilday weekend. When I wathced that STA game in Ft Lauderdale last year, Camden may have had more fans than STA.

You must have been watching the wrong game! Glenville has speed both in the backfield and WR. Their most visible problem is, their QB is not very accurate and lack of dicipline! If he was, they would have defeated ST. Edward!

The vikings are a good team but not a number 1 team, maybe in the top 10. Wishful thankiing. Camden, Moultrie, Tifton and Coffee will give Lowndes a good a very good game and possible win. Very possible.

HSFF, that’s why I believe Glenville should have won the game…….Most of those penalties were because of a lack of discipline….IMO.

Quarterback play was critical in this game. Glenvilles QB was suspect, also ST Ed was tough off the edge. A lot of the running ST Ed did helped to tire out Glenvilles D Line. It looked to me that once ST Ed got the lead, their coach, as I said earlier was playing not to lose, he went conservative, which allowed Glennville to get back into the game. Camden has to close out Glenville when they get the lead, their coach cannot get conservsative and play not to lose. Have not seen Camden this year, but if that Wint T is running and that Kid QB who signed with Ga has his game, it will be a long game for Glenville. Camden has been known to have a quick defense, so that works in their favor. Camden REPRESENT GA well on Monday.
