Spring football preview on Central Gwinnett High School Black Knight

(This is part of the AJC’s “30 in 30″ series — with quick hits on top high school football teams across the metro area and state during spring football practice. We’re doing 30 football teams in 30 days. Click here for a master list. Hey AJC, what about spring sports? You know, the non-football sports? Go here)

Central Gwinnett has two of the metro area’s top college prospects with tailback George Morris and linebacker Trey Johnson, a rising junior who finished with 152 tackles and 7.5 sacks last season. Quarterback Emmanuel Westmoreland threw for 2,800 yards and 28 TDs last year.

Malachi Jones is a newcomer expected to have an impact at WR. Said Wofford, “I feel like Jones can be a very productive player in our system. He has ideal size and speed, and is a smart player.” His older brother Tai-ler Jones plays at Notre Dame.

Charles King started some at DB last year as a freshman. “He is a very aggressive player with good speed and a nose for the football.”

Where are the rest of the spring football previews — only 20 of the 30 so far. I guess there will be 2 a days next week for the writers

Would somebody PLEASE put Kennesaw Mountain High School in a region by itself so they can make the playoffs in football for the FIRST time in their 10 year history.

I think they forgot about a few of players.
E-man Westmoreland is a prolific passer who can also run with the ball well. Reminds me of Charlie Ward and Tommy Frazier at times.
Francis Callon is a 6ft 5 senior from London who is playing football for the first time and already has eight scholarship offers. Central Gwinnett is a fast rising program that should make the playoffs this year.

running backs inthe state in 1967 and was highly recruited by Vince Dooley, however, Thomas
signed a Minor League baseball contract with the Dodgers and went on to play professional
baseball at the AAA Leverl…
