White County High School will introduce Bill Ballard as its new football coach on Friday.

Ballard, who has coached the past four seasons at Peachtree Ridge, was approved by the White County school board on Thursday night, according to the Gainesville Times. It happened on the same day that Ballard lost his father to cancer.

“It’s a very good day for me and my family and we’re excited about this opportunity,” Ballard told Adam Kron of the Times. “Of course it’s hard when you lose your father, it’s something no one expects to deal with and be happy about it … It’s tough.”
