Midnight deadline to vote in the AJC Slam Dunk Contest!

We’re down to the final hours of the 2011 AJC Slam Dunk Contest. Voting will end at 11:59 p.m. Monday (tonight). We’ll announce the winner at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Editor’s Note: Vote totals are not displayed because  we love the idea of “suspense” as much as you do. Come back Wednesday at 6 p.m. to see who won!

Then there were four.

We’re down to the final round of the AJC Slam Dunk Contest.  We’ve got four finalists, and one of them will win the prestigious 2011 honor.

I think it’s safe to say we’ve never had this much overall talent in the AJC Slam Dunk Contest. You’ve got many of the nation’s top college basketball prospects. Here are the four finalists:

  • Brandon Morris, Miller Grove (UGA, Forida, offers, etc.)
  • Matt Citron, Woodward Academy
  • Kenneth Gaines, Whitefield Academy
  • Corey Heyward, Peachtree Ridge

Here are the details of the 2011 AJC Slam Dunk Contest: (1) You can vote once per hour, (2) voting ends at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 7, and (3) you need to click on this link to both see the dunks and vote … The winner will be announced at 6 p.m. on March 9 in this blog.

Again, to vote, click on this link

May the best dunker win!

No Shaq? I guess Milton students have better things to do than execute a viral voting system. Shame. Best dunker in state. period.

Yes Shaq is the best dunker in the state, but he needs badly to work on that jumper!

Great competition, these boys can fly. Good job AJC — what a fantastic online social media, networking and marketing experience.

None of those dunks were spectacular. If that’s the best you have, none of them should win. Besides guys who are taller than 6″4″ should never win a dunk contest as they aren’t really jumping!!

None of these were exciting to me. I saw several fabulous dunks from William Goodwin aka “Shaq” at SouthWest Dekalb vs Heritage High this past Saturday.

this round sucks and it is a farce since shaq johnson isnt in it. Yea he needs to work on his jumper but what other person in this contest besides the other shaq and brandon have an offer from a big confrence d1 school? so i guess he is doing something right

Milton Dad, and that’s when you are suppose to start encouraging people to support the home team and vote.

We are proud of Brandon for even making it this far and I will continue to encourage people take a look at the dunks and vote. (for whoever they think is better)

why did their vote totals go down? 2 of the guys had over 1,000 votes yesterday, do they start back over at zero each day or something?

Unfortunately we had some people abusing the voting system. There were thousands of votes coming in from the same IP addresses, minute after minute. Those users were banned and their votes were removed.

@ Joe – nice article on the Wilcox vs. Greenville game in the AJC. Sounds like a classic with Greenville going on a 10 – 1 run at the end to win. Caldwell-Pope hit 40 to lead all scores.
