No. 1 Milton defeats Norcross in basketball rematch

Milton High, which is ranked No. 1 in the nation by USA TODAY, defeated Norcross 72-66 in high school basketball on Tuesday night.

Norcross drops to 0-3 with the  loss.

Milton point guard Shannon Scott (signed with Ohio State) scored 28 points in the win over Norcross. His teammate, swingman Evan Nolte — who is considered one of the nation’s top college basketball prospects as a junior, finished with 23 points. Milton is 3-0 on the season.

It was the first meeting between the two teams since Milton’s Julian Royal (signed with Georgia Tech) sank two foul shots with no time on the clock  in a 52-51 win over Norcross in last year’s Class AAAAA quarterfinals. Milton went on to win the state championship in Georgia’s largest classification.
