High school of NFL star Hines Ward looking for new head football coach

Forest Park has dismissed Jajuan Wright as the school’s head football coach.

Co-athletic director John Patterson revealed the decision in a statement:

“Forest Park has decided to go in a different direction with its football program, and has made its Head Coaching football position vacant.    Coach Wright stepped in as head coach, after budget cuts left the head coaching position vacant last year.  The new principal of Forest Park High School , Derrick Manning, is committed to raise its athletics program to the highest level.

“In doing this Mr. Manning, has developed a multi-year plan which will begin with bringing in an experienced football head coach and staff.  He is as passionate about athletic programs as he is his academic programs.  Mr. Manning is committed to bringing back the rich tradition of competiveness, stability, and achievement to football.  This program will instill high academic achievement, accountability, a continual strength and conditioning program …”

Wright, who was 2-8 in one season as coach, will remain teaching at the school.

Forest Park hasn’t won more than three games in a season since a 3-7 mark in 2002. Hines Ward played and graduated from the Clayton County school.

Now it’s YOUR turn. Who would be the BEST CANDIDATE for this position? Or any other openings in the state?

Forest Park would be wise to bring back Tom Van Tone.

This story must have been last but not least, to put Hines Ward’s name in the headline, so people will read this article! Forest Park will never have a winning program until they can hire ($$$) a good Coach, not just a teacher who is young and exciting. I would be very shocked, if ANY Clayton Cty school does well in any sports, until the trash has been taking out.

Shug obviously is old school. I haven’t heard the name “Van Tone” in twenty years.

If you really want to to be successful. Try to bring Coach Shockley and let him pick his own staff. He is a proven winner and it is time to forgive him and welcome him back. I guarantee he can turn that once prideful program around to champions on and off the field like he did North Clayton High School Eagles…

They had a good one in rod perrymond 3 yrs ago and let him go. They won’t get a better one than that man. He and Hines are boys but the former AD would not let him bring in coaches and forced him to coach with guys that stabbed him in the back. Good luck with that mess!
