Duke’s Coach K to make special visit to Atlanta on Tuesday night — guess which prized recruit he is here to see??

You gotta be good — well great — to get Coach K to make a special trip to Atlanta.
Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski is scheduled to attend Miller Grove’s game at Douglass High at 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to Miller Grove coach Sharman White.
And who is Coach K here to see? None other than Tony Parker, one of the nation’s top juniors with more than 40 scholarship offers.
Parker is a 6-foot-9, 270-pound power forward who averages 19.5 points, 14 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.
“Coach K isn’t coming for a casual visit — Duke loves Tony and they want to sign him very badly,” White said. “He’s a 6-9 guy who can make things happen in the paint. They like his ability to score, and they think he’s a great kid — a ‘Duke kind of kid.’”
Parker, who has built a close relationship with Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt, says he has no favorites.
“It’s exciting that Duke will be here,” Parker said. “They obviously have a great program and I’m definitely considering them.”

I’ve attended his coaching clinics up in Durham. He has forgotten more BB than any of the chuckle-heads that criticize him will EVER know. Good for Big Tony. Make DeKalb proud and go play for the greatest BB Coach in History!

Coach Fox is going to have to go head-to-head with Coach K. on 2 juniors in the state.
Hewitt is a non-factor going forward. Gtu cannot afford to fire him, and unless he is handing out bags of Cam Newton Money, I cannot imagine anymore kids being stupid enough to go play for him.

I saw him play Columbia he is a great player they had a lot of GREAT PLAYERS on the court and it was a great game I was really impressed with the soph pg for Columbia he finished with 26 points and was feeling under the weather what a game. Hats off to Miller Grove and Columbia. Also the game before that featured Redan girls vs SWD and that was a great game. The ajc seems biased with their coverage (Milton, Wheeler, Walton) but after attending saturday’s games at MGHS I am convinced that dekalb county has the best teams boys and girls

@ Really, I’m no big Duke fan and I love to see Coach K lose but damn he is probably one of the greatest coaches ever his teams are always disciplined and always good. How you say he is overrated i do not know but i do know he is a great coach and I am sure that Mark Fox has the upmost respect for Coach K

Anybody who criticizes Paul Hewitt is a racist.
None of the poor seasons that GT has had are Paul’s fault. It’s the players’ fault plain and simple. We have discussed it over dinner many times and Paul knows more about basketball than many folks give him credit for. He is certainly on Coach K’s level.
My love for Paul goes beyond just friendship. HE LITES MY FIRE and makes my head swim everytime I look into his dreamy brown eyes.
Thank God for that 7 year forever roll over contract which allows me to continue my man love of Paul.
Paul if you read this….. know that I will always love you!

It makes sense for Coach K to be going after a stud PF in the class of 2012. Mason Plumlee won’t stay for his senior year and Duke will be thin in the front court. Of course, if Parker commits to Duke in the 2011 early signing period it will probably guarantee that he is a McDAA.

He should also go for the best players to develop a team not the one and done specials…..
