Colquitt had over 600 yds of offense to Brookwood’s 365. Brookwood scored faster and more efficientlly…thats the facts. Congrats to Brookwood for being dominate all year long. To the rest of AAAAA(myself included)…bettter luck next season.

Got a kick out of Todd Holcomb’s article elsewhere on the sport’s page claiming Metro Atlanta secured 4 state championships this year. Metro Atlanta is getting biger and bigger! It’s not even in the same county! Next year they will be claiming anything north of Macon! I noticed there was no comments section for his article. Smart! They would have gotten the rath of the rest of GA. The AJC is so “childish” in more ways than one.

How can people come on here and say their team was better than Brookwood. Thats like saying that for the previous two seasons that MacEachern or Grayson or Newnan or even MLK and Stephenson were better than Camden just because Camden did not play those teams in the playoffs. Bull$H1#!!! Nothing can be taken away from the Bronco’s this year. They won it ALL.
BETTER LUCK NEXT YEAR SOUTH GA!

Congrats to Brookwood who played a great game. Our Packers played a great game on offense but the simple fact was we didn’t score enough. You guys took advantage of the mistakes we made and that is a quality of a championship team. I could say you take away the two special teams mistakes and it would be a 38-38 game but again it is what it is. Next year the Pack will reload on offense with a green but very talented Qb and a set of running backs that mirrors Tevin King. Our Defense will be another year older and experienced. The Pack will take the rest of December off then back to work in January in the weight room. To the vikings fan who said yall would have beaten Brookwood….your team wasn’t there were they? You can IF all you want to but the simple fact is Colquitt was there and you wasn’t!!

You people that claim to be so intellectually superior to Vikingsrule did not even read or understand his post. NGinthehouse, he never used the logic you claim he did. You are the one that says if this team beat this team and that team lost to this team in their own stadium then it stands to reason that this team could beat that team too. The gentleman said nothing of the sort. He simply stated that he saw all of these teams play and in his opinion LHS and VHS were better teams. He claimed that Brookwood did not beat the best team out of Region 1. Fred and Jim jumped on him about south Georgia smarts and to be honest I see comments on here all the time about country bumpkins and inbreeding and fighting and thugs. Give me a break people. I was born and raised in Valdosta. I have two bachelors degrees and make over 200,000 a year. I live in Atlanta and I support local teams but I am a Viking to the bone. I am sick and tired of people trashing south Georgia. Congratulations Brookwood…job well done! Jim, Fred, NGinthehouse and Observer24, they call it Winnersville and Titletown for a reason.

Observer is the obvious sore loser. Carrollton lost the game. Sandy Creek played a conservative game on offense which was far different than normal and if Carrollton had converted those fourth downs it wouldn’t have been construed as bad play calling. Were it not for a blown coverage Carrollton would have been down 14-0 at the half….If ifs and buts were candies and nuts what a swell party we’d have! The best team won!! End of story.

Congratulation Sandy Creek! Well played game and well coached. To my Trojans, great year. You gave us all a year to remember. Most people overlooked you to get to game 15. To all Torjan fans, great turnout for the game. Remember, when all the 0-10′ers and haters start spewing their crap, just smile and show what class we have. Go Trojans!!
@ rhann: How would Burke County winning the coin toss caused Carrollton to loose? I know I’m not the brightest star in the sky but that comment makes no sense at all. Don’t hate, be thankful your team finished ranked as high as they did, some of the teams ranked lower than them that we played were a whole lot better teams. Get over the recruiting thing, we have been accused of that for years, it don’t happen like you think it does. But think about this, why would a kid wanting to play football beyond high school, not want to play for a Buford, Sandy Creek, Carrollton, Brookwood, Valdosta or any school with a history of winning football?

@Tracker 185 If even half of the Trojans are coming back next year, I believe you will be in the dome. The team played disciplined football and they are well coached. Yes, Creek won the game but there is no shame in losing because they showed that they were a top notch program and I am not trying to disrespect Peach County because they are very good as well but Carrollton’s running game would have worn them out and won going away.

Plowboy-glad you cleared the diesel thing up for me. That knowledge will get me far in life.
Nonetheless, you are a south ga person and are for your team-fair enough. I just get tired of the south ga v. north ga talk-typically started by south ga. people. The inbred comments, etc. are made-I think-because football is all anyone thinks about as far as south ga. athletics. The s. Ga. people seem to keep that argument going and typically disapear when football is over becuase that is all they have.

One On One With The Great One … Please understand that the GHSA has the final say in where teams are put. After the 2007 season, Buford petitioned for 7-AAA but was denied. So learn a little back facts before you bash a school for the GHSA’s decision. Not to mention, Buford played two of the top AAA teams in North Georgia for the 2008-2010 seasons in North Hall & Gainesville. And to my knowledge, Buford played each pretty handily. So we know Buford is top in all classifications. I could see Buford 3rd in the state behind Carrollton and Sandy Creek. Enough said.

@observer…if you guys did score 16 we would have punched it in on the last play to make it 21 Carrollton still woul have lost. How can you say 3 good players then say we had a great defense…you are twisted. Carrollton did all they could do and it was not enough. lets play the if game. if we had not blown coverage this game would have been a shut out. if the ref didnt miss the pass interference call there would be no fumble on the one when we recoeved which I call justice. Trust me there are more than 3 studs. and if so, I guess the coach is that great….Go Creek!! WE ARE THE 2 TIMES STATE CHAMPIONS…We love our haters they keep us motivated..

Jim, you are joking right. No, actually you are showing your ignorance about something you know nothing about. Lowndes, Valdosta, Valdosta State, Valwood, Georgia Christian and Open Bible Christian have over 460 sports titles in football, baseball, basketball, softball, track, wrestling, soccer, tennis, golf, and weightlifting.
The Lowndes girls basketball team once went three consecutive years without a loss. During this time they were crowned region, state and national champs. Its not just football that makes Valdosta Titletown. Our kids compete well in all sports and they have won at all levels. Maybe you should take the time and research something before you spew off at the mouth. YOU have no clue sir!

The Pack had a great year!! Keep your heads up!! I have been on both sides of the State Championship game. I was a freshman on the 91 state runners up team that lost to Lagrange 17-16. It was hard but the thing is we have to get back to work for the next year. I was also a senior on the 94 State Championship team who went 15-0. That was a very special year that came with its ups and downs. To Brookwood Broncos, congrats and cherish it for years to come because you will always be known as being part of the highest scoring game in championship history. I guess I’ll have to start watching my Duke Bluedevils mop the floor more now that football is over. Oh yea the Falcons are still playing! Go Falcons! 11-2!

Joe and Jim, First of all Colquitt is not part of titletown and secondly Jim, I simply pointed out that we have titles in all sports as an answer to your claim that all we know is football. In the last 5 years only football as far as state titles with Lowndes and Valdosta. However, this was not your original argument.

sorry plowboy if I acted rudely-no disrespect intended. I hope you accept my apologies. My point is-and it is not a mpint but actual truth-south ga and/or titletown simply offers no competeition in other GHSA sports. Trust me, I have respect for Valdosta and Lowndes. I graduated HS in 87 and Valdosta and Clarke Ccentral were extremely feared programs (Football that is) in the state.

Great set of games this weekend… Congrats to Brookwood , Hooche , SC , Buford and Clinch……No matter what part of the state you call home or pull for , we should all agree that Brookwood , Hooche , Colquitt ,Calhoun and Clinch were impressive teams to watch…..Watching the games this weekend , I think the future of Georgia football is the spread offense……. In the near future the Camden’s ,Lowndes ,Tucker’s and Carver’s of Georgia football won’t be able to keep up with the Colquitt’s , Chattahoochie’s and Calhoun’s of Georgia football if changes aren’t made…….In Houston county, Hoco and Warner Robins switch to the spread this year and I think Northside will soon follow….

Jim, no offense taken but you are mistaken. You had a point when you said the last 5 years. But now you are saying in the last 20 that we only have football. Lowndes and Valdosta have both played in the state championship game in baseball in the highest classification and Lowndes has won it twice. Valdosta has won the state championship in tennis and weightlifting. Now that is in the last 20 years and only counting state championships in the highest classification. If you count the two christian schools then there are other championships in other sports than football also. Go further back than 20 and you find even more in other sports besides football. Count region and championships and not just state and the number goes through the roof in sports other than football. Your claim is just simply not true.

The mighty Broncos ran roughshod over the hapless Colquit Packers Saturday night. The Broncos proved that they are the best team in the state. Now the rest of the state has discovered what Gwinnett already knew, that the Broncos are the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. We will continue to run over, around and thru the likes of Grayson, South, Pview, the rest of Gwinnett and all of South Ga. A new Dynasty has begun. We will dominate and destroy all who dare to play us. All other schools bow down to the Broncos, THE CHAMPIONS OF GEORGIA.

To All … I have been pondering for some time … I would like to congratulate Buford on 4 straight. I do believe they should stay in AA … they cannot compete at the AAA, AAAA, or AAAAA levels … not enough students or talent of players as compared to the larger schools and elite larger programs. These other classifications just have too many kids to pick from … Buford can only pick from 1 middle school and clearly they don’t recruit! I’m surprised their numbers don’t allow them to play in A. They are the best AA program in Georgia football history, but no where close as it relates to the best in Georgia High School history. Just thinking!

@yo, Thanks for the clarification. Now I understand what you meant and we were very close in intent. I like to believe that the 10 teams were all very good with no stand out team but then I try to look on the positive side.
@plowboy, I think you have me confused with someone else. I make it a point to *never* attack anyone personally as I believe that if you cannot make your point without personally attacking someone, you must not have much of a point to make. I may take exception with someone’s point and address that issue but as best as I can remember (and I checked back over the past several days worth of postings) I never said anything about anyone’s intelligence. I take exception with anyone that says any region is inherently better than the other, has an unfair advantage or anything of the sort. More often than not, someone claiming to be from south Ga starts up with all the nonsense about south teams being so much better than north, especially Gwinnett. I will argue that point all day long.
I very much understand why Valdosta/Lowndes Co. is called title town. Remember, I said I remember back in the early ’60s how Valdosta and Avondale used to contend for the titles. Numbers can be made to say anything anyone wants them to. My point, and I think some of the others that post from metro Atlanta, is that many of the schools in the metro area have had a lot of success for the amount of time their schools have been in existence. Normalize the numbers to take into account the difference in almost 100 years of sports vs the 10 years or less for many metro teams and the numbers look much closer.
On a personal note, I congratulate you on dual degrees and the success you have had. I would hold you up as an example to anybody how hard work coupled with the proper education can be successful. I hope you are able to work with the student athletes to give them a positive role model away from sports. I am afraid too many of our youth look at athletics as the only and/or best way to succeed when the percentages are so very stacked against them.

Reality:
I agree with you on Brookwoods linebacker. He may be the best player i have seen this year. I know grayson or Colquitt couldn’t block him.
Of the teams i saw in person this season I think North Gwinnett and Brookwood were the best. Colquitt and Kell were also very good. Colquitt must have used the early season games as practice games to prepare for the playoffs, they were much better than Valdosta. Didn’t get to see Lowndes or Camden so can’t say anything about them.
Players that impressed me the most were
Brookwoods linebacker #38 Lynch.
Colquitts Running back #22 King
Grayson’s Linebacker #4 Denzel can’t spell his last name. (No double degrees for me plowboy
Grayson Linebacker #18 Peek

@P. Bull Terrier – thank you. I tried to say about the same thing a couple of blog pages ago, but apparently some folks that aren’t from around here insist upon holding on to their fantasies. @grayram, can’t go wrong with listing Lynch #38. Has a very low center of gravity which makes his blitz very effective. He can push the lineman either out of his way or into the QB. Syracuse is getting a quality player.
And that #22 King for Colquitt sure can move and is shifty. Both Brookwood backs are quick off the ball and can get through the line in a hurry, which leads to many yards. But that #22 seems quicker, and shiftier.

You can call each other dumb, ignorant, south vs north, ref. cheated, out coached, best player was injured, school divided, play up/play down, etc.
The fact of the matter is: Brookwood, Hooch, Sandy Creek, Buford, and Clinch are the champions. That will not change— AND who finished second/third/fourth will soon be forgotten.
And yes, the North kicked our butt this year. Get over it!
